Ah, a night off, finally. But of course, if I’m not working, that means there aren’t many games on, so what is there to watch? Well, the Detroit and Philly series was on, but it ended almost exactly the way I expected it to: disappointing.
Don’t get me wrong, Philly is one of the most exciting teams in the league. They run the floor better than a lot of teams. But really, why were they winning? Personally I think it’s because they are a scrappy team, and when someone lets up on them, they take advantage. In a 7-game series, teams are going to learn that you CAN’T let up on the Sixers. Once that element gets taken away, the Sixers are nothing more than a glorified New Jersey Nets.
But I must give credit where credit is due. Philly played their hearts out night in and night out. But Andre Iguodala faltered when it mattered, from the field at least. His defense and leadership was shining through his miserable shooting. Thaddeus Young played himself into a permanent starting role and guys like Louis Williams made a name for themselves around the league as legitimate top tier role players. The craziest part about that… out of the three of them, none have played more than three seasons in the NBA. The future looks bright Philly.
Here’s my “NBA employee that thinks they knew more than the everyday basketball fan because they watch basketball for a living” prediction: Orlando Magic over the Detroit Pistons in 6. Dwight Howard becomes a man.
