Report: Jackson will be named coach

by Tommy Dee on May 6th, 2008 at 11:57 am

Andrew Marchand of 1050 ESPN Radio in New York has reported that Mark Jackson will be named the next Knicks head coach within the next few days.

We haven’t been able to verify this with any other sources. It appears Donnie Walsh wants Jackson on the bench and Jackson certainly wants to be on Walsh’s bench. Walsh interviewed Mike D’Antoni in Phoenix, and now there are reports of D’Antoni headed to Chicago. I guess we can gather how that interview went…

I personally am a fan of this move. I would rather a guy like Tom Thibodeau but with a young team like the Knicks have, Jackson would be my second choice. The Knicks aren’t going anywhere fast anytime soon, so why not groom a head coach along the way? All signs point to Jax knowing his stuff, so it’s a risk worth taking. Stay tuned…

UPDATE: Conflicting reports from KTAR in Phoenix say D’Antoni and the Bulls are hung up on money issues, possibly opening the door for the Knicks to get back in the picture and make an offer, which has been rumored.

Well if that doesn’t throw off your whole line of thinking, what will? We’ll keep trying to get to the bottom of it, so check back often.
