NY Post: D’Antoni Expecting Knicks Offer

Marc Berman is reporting something we at TKB heard rumbling around yesterday, that the Knicks are preparing to make an offer that could trump Chicago for the services of Mike D’Antoni.

“According to a source close to the Suns coach, D’Antoni is expecting to receive formal proposals from the Knicks and Bulls by week’s end. At least that’s what he hopes. The imminent nature of these two offers likely was urged by D’Antoni, who has been told by Suns GM Steve Kerr the club wants a decision by Friday.”

I would be shocked if the D’Antoni hire came down to money. I think this is a smokescreen and that Walsh wants Jackson. It will be interesting to see if D’Antoni does, indeed, receive an offer to coach the Knicks.

    Does anyone actually believe D’Antoni wants to coach this cluster*&^&*^ of overpaid, underachieving wastes of breathable air? (save David Lee) He’s definitely using the Knicks to drive up the price for the Bulls. I mean, think about this logically…D’Antoni is really going to take his run and gun style to a team that doesn’t hustle and has noone to quarterback a style such as this one? I don’t think so…Going from the Suns to the Knicks would be about as drastic as going from Giselle to Rosie.
