More Gallinari and the Rumor Mill

As we head into the Fourth of July holiday weekend there is still basketball talk surrounding the Knicks. First the guys over at  The Hoop Doctors talk about the possibility of Kirk Hinrich and Drew Gooden for Zach Randolph. Predictably the Bulls didn’t pull the trigger on the deal.

Finally, I really enjoyed reading Alan Hahn’s column from the other day where he talks about Gallinari and some of the challenges he overcame in Europe. Still think the kid isn’t tough?

I have mentioned a dea like the one mentioned in my earlier posts. Instead of Gooden, I had Ty Thomas, but that was simply because I thought that Gooden and Hinrich made more than Randolph will.

This deal would work for both teams. The Bulls need a Randolph more than they need either of their two players. Rumors had Marcus Camby going to the Bulls for Hinrich. WHy would the Bulls want Camby? They need an OFFENSIVE post presence, not another Noah/ Ty Thomas in there. Of course they would not pull the trigger on this deal right now. Not before free agency starts. Hinrich is going nowhere if they lose Ben Gordon. Can anyone else envision teams throwing max type money at both Gordon and Deng, with the Bulls only being able to keep Deng? I sure can.

The Bulls would more likely try to get a guy like Elton Brand, who puts up the points without creating a fuss as Zach does sometimes. When the Bulls realize that Brand will not be going to them, Zach Randolph will be a much more attractive option to them.

Hinrich would be a great fit for D’Antoni because he is able to shoot the rock, much like Steve Nash was able to for him in Phoenix. This is going to be a long summer. We might have to be patient to get our man, whether it is Hinrich or Felton or Conley or whoever.
