Ridnour in the Mix??
By Tommy Dee - Jul 2, 2008 3:46 pm

Since we’re shopping for point guards, let’s tear off the Luke Ridnour coupon, courtesy of the Seattle Times.

The 6-foot-2 Ridnour suffered his worst season since his rookie year, averaging 6.4 points and 4.0 assists. A quadriceps injury forced him to miss 15 games, and he lost his starting job to Watson. But with Watson recovering from the broken thumb, Ridnour seems less likely to be traded.

New York, Miami, Denver and the Los Angeles Clippers are shopping for point guards. A league source said Tuesday the Knicks are a likely team for Ridnour because he can run coach Mike D’Antoni’s fast-paced offense.

He’s made me scratch my head as to why he hasn’t blossomed, but I’ve always liked his tools as a lead guard. Let’s face it Seattle stinks. He’s coming off a bad year, was an 11-7 guy a few years ago. Doesn’t defend well, nor does he shoot it well, but could fit with D’Antoni.

Would they take Jared Jeffries for him? How about Malik Rose? Would anyone actually give up something of real value for this guy? Maybe Balkman?

You said it Tommy – he doesn’t defend. Maybe he “fits,” maybe he does not, but if he doesn’t play D then he has no place here. I don’t see the attraction with this guy.

Andrew Marchand reported that the Knicks have also made contact with Telfair’s agent. If the Duhon idea falls through, then why not on Telfair. I would have to asume that he would love to come to New York, given that it is his home and that the pg spot is up for grabs.

i’d take telfair. obviously that would all but guarantee steph gets bought out. there is no way they go to training camp with those two in the same locker room.

Earlier, Chad Ford mentioned that he has heard that the Warriors might be interested in trading for Zach. Now there is a report that the Warriors might be trying to sign Brand to a max offer of over 100 million.

This means two things:
1) One is that the Clippers might be interested in Zach if Brand leaves
2) Two is that maybe Ford is hearing right. Maybe the Warriors might try for Zach.

Thoughts?

Well, there certainly seems to be some buzz floating around about Z-Bo, and in the right deal, you probably have to do it. But we can’t him for the sake of trading him. He’s a productive player that can still help this team try to win.

So it all comes down to the deal on the table. It seems like there will likely be a number of offers, so Donnie will have some decisions to make.

Name me one point guard that actually plays defense.

Nash… nope
A.I…. he likes to roam and create steals but leaves his man open… a lot!
Kidd… if you call leaving your man open because you’re thinking about what your crazy ex-wife is going to do to your kids, then nope.
Andre Miller… against the Knicks, he’s great, put him against anyone else and he’s average.
Rajon Rondo… he’d get his ass beat by Garnett if he didn’t.
Derek Fischer… he’s get his ass yelled at by Kobe if he didn’t.
Tony Parker… with Timmy D, Bowen and Horry who needs to play stinky D?

Rid has game. He was pretty good with Ray Allen and the guy who wasn’t drafted till the 2nd round even though he was still in the green room crying and eventually left the Sonics for Orlando.

Zbo — I say keep his sorry butt or trade him for Eddie Lee Wilkins if he’s still available.

Who here remembers Eddie Lee Wilkins? Ahhh yeah… we’re talking old skool yo!
