Okafor wants trade; Knicks aren’t a match
By Tommy Dee - Jul 22, 2008 9:07 am

Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer notes that Emeka Okafor wants a big contract, or wants out of Charlotte.

“A source with knowledge of the negotiations says Emeka Okafor is ready to move on, rather than accept what the Charlotte Bobcats have offered long-term for his services.

The Bobcats can hold on to him for next season, but perhaps the best way to preserve value is to arrange a sign-and-trade.”

Walsh will pass on attempting to acquire Okafor, as he is seeking in the $12-14 million range, which will extend past 2010, something Walsh has sworn he won’t do. Plus Larry Brown and MJ don’t want anything on this roster past Crawford (they have guards) and David Lee.
