Knicks Set to Extend Lee

As first reported by TKB, both hoopsworld.com and the NY Post are reporting that the Knicks are getting ready to sign David Lee to an extension, maybe some time during training camp.

You may recall, TKB noted that the team was anxious to trade Zach Randolph so they could sign Lee to a much-deserved extension.

The team is still anxious to move ZBo, but considers Lee a piece too valuable to lose. Lee did confirm trade talks regarding Memphis to me the other day and was “flattered” by them but that “he wanted to be here when this thing turns around.”

What remains to be seen is the decision the team makes regarding Nate Robinson, who is also due after the season.

With Stephon Marbury still in camp, Nate’s minutes are sure to be impacted in a crowded backcourt already consisting of Marbury, Jamal Crawford, and Chris Duhon.

Four guard rotations means heavy minutes for 3 and spot minutes for the 4th, generally.

Spoke with Alan Hahn last night and he reiterated what he blogged about- that Allan Houston has a real shot to make this team. His lateral movement isn’t great, but that will get better and was never that great anyway, and his stroke is as pure as ever. Either way, H20 will be a part of this team, whether it be in the locker room, or in the front office.

Hey good site you got going here. I was surprised to see the interest there was in Z-Bo, in that there was interest, but i think that can indicate that as time goes by there may be more teams interested. Randolph is simply not a championship type of player, and he doesn’t do anything that a supporting player would need to do to accompany a real superstar. I’m liking Lee this year, I’m liking Stephon. The Jeffries injury is too bad because I could have seen him run a bit, be the only player providing some decent D. I’d hope Curry is shipped out of town as soon as possible, and Crawford’s value could be at its highest this year if he can (and he should) thrive under Dantoni’s system. Ship him out too, there will not be any room for him soon and he’d probably yield the best returns in a trade. I love Lee like the next guy but he may be shipped out too. Stephon, obviously, nearing his end as a Knick. Unfortunate as he was and will always be my favorite player. I’ll see what Gallinari and Chandler have but I don’t care if they re-haul this whole team in the next few years. I don’t care. In the NBA you need to build for the championship, or sign a superstar. It’s time to build now so we can sign a superstar in 2010. And the only thing mildly entertaining to me as a Knick fan is seeing the revolving door of players, the next guy coming in, guys getting traded all over the place like some video game. Make some moves, Walshy. Let’s go Knicks.
