Knicks Waiting on Lee

Sources tell TKB that the Knicks will in fact wait on David Lee’s extension, as was reported in today’s Post.

We had learned that Walsh had decided on extending Lee, but we were curious as to why he would choose to add contract past 2010 this early.

Walsh is again displaying patience, which it makes sense, and we’ve been told that there is no tension between Lee and the team. The same can be said about Nate Robinson.

Walsh will allow the market to dictate the value of both players, and it can be assumed that Lee would receive an offer in the 6-8 million dollar range, and Nate in the neighborhood, but he wants to see a full season’s production before making a call.

And the players understand.

At media day I spoke with Lee and he didn’t seemed concerned, he wants to be a Knick and feels everything will work out.

What Walsh needs to do is trim the salary cap before he commits to adding more, with his sights on 2010.

Again, there is no tension between Lee and the Knicks.
