James Stays, Fans Irate

With the news that Ewing Jr. has been officially cut, Internet forums everywhere are buzzing with dejected fans confused by the decision.

Fans believe this should not have been an issue about money, since none believe Jerome James deserves to be in a Knick uniform. And poor Anthony Roberson, I hope the kid gets to play a few minutes to see what he can do.

Clearly Donnie Walsh isn’t concerned about the fans reaction, afterall he could easily have dumped James by telling Jim Dolan that he wasn’t his problem. But we know Walsh is a patient man, and thus is allowing James to waste another year rotting on the bench.

But the question most fans have is why would the team trade Renaldo Balkman?  Logically trading Balkman and adding Ewing made great sense, but to lose them both (granted neither were going to be in the rotation this year) has fans scratching their collective heads.

And pounding their fists…

    I’m actually really upset about this. This is the first time I’ve been critical of this new regime. I just don’t understand how they could cut Ewing Jr., especially with the way he had the fans enthused and behind him.

    I understand why fans might react negatively to releasing Ewing, but I can see managements reasoning also. If his name wasnt Ewing, then he is just a 24 year old rookie who has showed some athleticism, but doesnt have a solid jump shot and really has no position. I wouldnt be surprised to see them bring him back as soon as an injury happens or another roster spot opens however. If Roberson can find the touch and be a shooter off the bench, there is more of a need to have him on the team. I have nothing to say about Jerome James, maybe Dolan just didnt want to eat the contract yet.

    roberson should be cut he played well against bad players and pat jr as nymjk said got me as well as other excited about preseason knicks basketball and he made some plays that got the garden goin
