Hoopsworld is reporting that the Bobcats may have found a partner and if so, they will be making a deal soon.

“…Sounds like the Bobcats have a taker, and that in the deal they’re getting back more players than they’re sending out. According to a couple of well-informed sources the Bobcats have been aggressively working the phone lines as they watch their attendance drop in direct proportion to their winning percentage. It sounds like we could see a huge move made by the Bobcats in the next few hours…”

They mention talks with the Nets.

“…The Nets continue to be in trade discussions with Charlotte, which is desperate for frontcourt help, but they don’t have the expendable post player Larry Brown wants. The Bobcats are willing to part with Gerald Wallace for a player of consequence, but are more actively pushing Matt Carroll or Adam Morrison, mindful that the Nets are shooter-crazy these days…”

Okay, how “shooter-crazy” can they be if they passed on the chance to snag Marco Bellinelli, a gifted shooter with upside, in exchange for one of their logjam of forwards? And, rule them out for Gerald Wallace, unless they can move Vince Carter to Cleveland. Wallace and Carter would hamper any shot at Lebron in 2010.

So which team is it? Wallace seems to be on the move, but the Knicks are a long shot. Carroll would be a nice fit as Mike D’Antoni may be clamoring for more shooting help after another poor shooting performance in the second half of the Boston game. Or maybe Adam Morrison?  Now it seems with the Cats making room a bigger deal may be in place. That said, Charlotte doesn’t take Eddy Curry (Mardy Collins, 2nd rounder) for Morrison and Carroll, do they? Carroll is up after this year just signed a 5-year contract and Morrison has an option after 2010. Walsh has said he doesn’t want to add salary, and Carroll is due 4 plus million until 2012. That’s really not a lot of money, but seeing as they haven’t decided on either Lee or Robinson it’s tough to imagine.

But it seems like Michael Jordan and Larry Brown are itching for a blockbuster, and unless they can get a third team involved, like Golden State, a deal seems involving Wallace could be a long shot. But there is still so much buzz surrounding teams to make a deal, it’s time for that shoe to drop. Why not take the chance on Curry for relatively nothing?

The Knicks need to start trimming their roster fat. If Curry has no place on this team, Carroll and Morrison would. If Charlotte is a taker for Curry, then go for it.

Morrison is looking decent thus far, and Carroll seems to be out of their rotation. Both would be good scorers off of our bench. Morrison’s character would also fit nicely in the Garden. If he regains his craziness that he has at Zaga, I would love to see him fire up MSG.
