Notes:
Drafted in the second round in 1998 by the Houston Rockets, Mobley went on to make his NBA mark
sharing an exciting backcourt with ex-Knick Stevie Francis, The Franchise. Within a couple of years, Mobley became a high-scoring, sharp-shooting lefty that brought a buzz back to Houston. In 2001-02, Mobley put up pretty monstrous stats, shooting nearly 40% from beyond the arc and averaging close to 22 ppg (That year Francis put up nearly 22 ppg, 7 rpg, and 6.4 apg). Mobley was eventually traded with his backcourt mate to Orlando for Tracy McGrady.
After a quick pit stop in Orlando, Mobley was then traded mid-season to Sacramento for Doug Christie. After the 04-05, Mobley signed with the Clippers, and ultimately helped lead the Clippers to the playoffs in 2006.
All in all, Mobley is an all-around professional. The man knows how to play the game the right way. While he might not be what he once was, he figures to help this team win games and help fill the void that Jamal Crawford has left. Actually, he will be able to help this team in ways that Jamal simply did not. For starters, Mobley is a better defender than Crawford. Despite his superior athleticism, Crawford never quite understood how to play defense. Mobley does. Even though he will not be able to score in groves like Jamal, Mobley will be a more consistent shooter for this team. My only question is this: will Mobley be the one to take the final shot like Jamal always stepped up to do?
