Breaking: Mobley Fails Physical

by Tommy Dee on November 24th, 2008 at 10:40 pm

In a dramatic twist to the Knicks saga, Cuttino Mobley has failed his physical with the team.

However, it is our understanding the Knicks can waive the physical results, accept the deal and allow Mobley to play with the team tomorrow night against the Cavs.

Stay tuned to see what Walsh does.

For more see David Aldridge’s report on nba.com.

….Update 7:00 AM….

….Andrew Smith writes….

Cuttino Mobley’s pre-existing heart condition is holding up the trade to New York. Obviously, there were no issues with either Randolph or Collins’ physicals, it is simply procedure to not allow them from playing.

I don’t know what the Knicks’ exact options are in this situation. They obviously can’t demand another player that would automatically be included. I assume it would simply be trade on/trade off.

My guess is Walsh accepts the failed physical and allows the trade to go through as quickly as possible. But, more importantly, I hope Mobley is healthy and that this is a condition that he was aware of.

    They should try this………..
Knicks should try to get a pick thrown in.
They should try to switch Mobley and Camby.

Also make the deal no matter what!!! and didnt Curry have a heart problem as well and i dont mean effort and care lol. Also i would wait till the last second as well to waive the medical report.

    GO KNICKS!!!

I said to wait till the last second to make this deal. however apparently tomorrow is the last day. so the question is do you make the deal if mobley is actually hurt???
    opinions???

If the true nature of this deal is to get cap healthy by 2010, which it is, then we should care not whether the team has a healthy Mobley. The Knicks clearly have to accept this trade and either pray that Mobley is capable of playing with his condition or be prepared to play without him. 2010 should be all that matters.
