The Knicks came out hot and the Pistons came out flat in the first half. Despite seemingly doing everything in their power to blow a 22 point first half lead, the Knicks went on to beat the Pistons 104-92. Big shots from Wilson Chandler and Al Harrington down the stretch sealed it for the Knicks, but the real stories of the game were Chris Duhon and Q Rich. Duhon played all 48 minutes of this afternoon’s game and he played extremely well, putting up 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 9 assists while only committing 2 turnovers. Great game from Duhon.
The Knicks avoided their 4th straight loss, but the lack of guard depth is still a problem. Duhon cannot keep playing all these minutes without any help off the bench. If Duhon comes out flat or gets hurt, there is literally no one on this roster that can come in an back him up. I hope that Donnie Walsh sees this because we all do.
In any case, the Knicks needed this win today. In beating the Pistons, they reversed their losing fortunes going into Tuesday’s game at Chicago.

Yeoman effort by Duhon. 25-5-9 and going the whole way… obviously makes the Roberson signing and the Marbury burying look bad, 2 roster spots on unused PGs…
Notice the fury D’Antoni had on Tim Thomas early in the 4th after Tiny Tim blew multiple defensive assignments? Quickly inserted David Lee, CAME GHANGED… Lee with 12-19-3. At some point D’Antoni will learn you have to pick your spots w/ Tiny Tim, he’s is a HORRIBLE defender because he appears to never give effort on that end. Unfortunately he doesn’t have much of a choice right now…
If D’Antoni doesn’t have confidence in Roberson, cut him and sign a body who can play PG. Then when the Marbury situation is resolved either they need to get a shotblocking big or hey, maybe re-sign H20 (yes I’m biased as hell but he’s healthy and would infinitely help).
Frankman you are absolutely right, if you can’t play Anthony Roberson in a game where Duhon goes 48 on a bad back, then get him off the team. There must be some undrafted guard or someone in the d-league who can step in and play 10-15 minutes a game. This roster is getting ridiculous. We are not asking to bring in talent, we are asking to bring in people who can get in the game. I dont care who it is but to play our guys such heavy minutes is completely counterproductive to what we are trying to do.
I find it absolutely ridiculous that we traded our two best players who are under 30 in the prime of their career and we couldnt bring back ONE PROSPECT. Not one young player to get some minutes and maybe develop into a ball player. For Gasol who averaged 19 and 9 with a block and a half (rounding up on all stats), the Grizz got crittenton and marc gasol plus two first rounders. We only got Tim Thomas for Zach. Thats ridiculous. Not a draft pick or a young player to just throw out there in garbage time? If anything, we got fleeced of Mardy Collins who as much as I hated as a Knick could be getting some meaningful minutes right now.
Donnie, do something. Get another player out there or our guys are all going to go down. Jeffries has to leave the game in his first game back. Nate gets injured in his first game back. Duhon is playing 48 minutes through pain. Where you are playing guys such consistent, heavy minutes, they are gonna get injured. We need to make some room for some actual ball players, not bench warmers.
