Yeah I thought of that...I thought JRichs was more along the 12 million dollar line in 2010 but even so, 6 million is offset by the Curry deal, we can still sign two max contracts and we have a star shooting guard to make the team more enticing. At 15 a season though, that definitely could be the reason though.

I think they may have been able to get JRich, but didnt want his contract(due $15 mill in 2010 vs. $9 mill for Diaw). That would be the only explanation I can think of.

This is just why it doesn't make sense to me:

If Lee and Curry can get us Raja Bell and Boris Diaw, and Raja Bell and Boris Diaw were just traded for Jason Richardson, Jared Dudley, and a 2nd rounder, why didnt we just trade for Jason Richardson who fits the system perfectly? Especially with a huge hole at the 2 guard, I mean, the guy seems to me like the perfect offensive complement for Duhon. 6'6 Guard who runs the floor jumps high and nails the three? Good for 20 points a game? He'd light up the Garden. The only catch is we would need to sign someone of the scrap to get some minutes at center, or involve another team and get a decent big for dudley and some parts from both teams for some height.

But what can you do, the team looks great, I personally dont think it's wise to trade Lee at this point anyway. If we do though, I hope its not for Raja Bell and Boris Diaw.

Hmmm... Interesting trade possibility. I like the idea of getting rid of Curry. And I don't really care to much for the prospect of paying Lee 12+ million a year. I like the trade in terms of it giving us more financial flexibility. I just wonder if we could get more help in the short term than just those two players for a proven and rising star like lee. I really like the idea of including Morrison or Carroll on that agenda.

One thing that doesn't quite fit is that Bell seems to fit Brown's style to a T. Why would he want to jettison him? If He wasn't included, Morrisson, Carroll and Diaw for Curry, Lee and Rose works unde the cap. Not sure if that;s the best trade you can find with Lee included, but it looks decent to me on paper. Neither one is shooting all that well this season, but I watch the bobcats quite regularly and they always seem to be shooting off balance with 2 secs left on the shot clock (like Q and Stardiedandburied did for Brown). You would basically get 3 players for 1, and although you would take on some salary for 2010, they would be the type of role players you would want if you can sign a few stars. just a thought.

I know that this is off topic, but I was just reading Julius Hodge's blog on HoopsHype.com. I agree that he is probably number 27 on Donnie's list, but I think that we should give him some serious thought. Read below and you'll see why I was encouraged...

"I just played against the Melbourne Tigers. We played really well, we battled hard, my mid-range jumper was working and we got a tough win.

Most importantly, my mindset while I’m playing here in Australia is that I look at the games to get a little more than the 25 points, double-digit rebounds and ten assists every game. My whole focus is not to drink the poison. I’m not going be the guy that drinks the poison. When I say that, I mean I’m not resting on my laurels, believing I’m really that good and I don’t have to continue to work hard and improve every day.

I’m out here working extremely hard before and after the game, before and after practice. I stay after every game and I make sure I do my five-spot shooting for about 40 minutes and then I lift weights for another 40 minutes.

Despite suffering a pair of narrow losses, I’ve averaged 26.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.0 steals and I was named NBL’s Player of the Week."

Lets rename the Team the NY Suns. Why get rid of Lee, he has gotten better and better every year. Not a fan of this deal!
Iam a fan of getting rid of Curry though!

I know that Diaw had a good game last night for the Cats. I know that he thrived under Coach Mike. I know all that.

But if Walsh trades Lee for him, he is absolutely nuts.

Watching last night's game, who was in battling for all the rebounds? At times it was 3 on 1....

Lee is a double-double man. There are not many of them out there. Like his game or not, he produces.

Diaw makes about 9 mill per year for the next few years. I think that if Walsh wanted him, he would have gotten him by now.

I am all in on Bell. If we can work out a deal with Curry for Bell and one other player, then go for it.
