Knicks Need Bodies, Curry certainly has one

By now you’ve heard that Eddy Curry may be returning to the Knicks lineup when they travel to the great Southwest next week.

It what can only be seen as a smoke screen to feature Curry as trade bait, Mike D’Antoni has done a bit of a 180 degree turn on his feelings towards Curry. You may remember over the summer D’Antoni had plenty to say regarding Curry’s conditioning, or lack there of, so maybe now D’Antoni recognizes that Curry did in fact have an injury to his knee that flew under the radar and he deserves a chance.

Or maybe his team is in desperate need of bodies.

Chris Duhon was asked about the idea of having Curry back and the Knicks point guard responded with this not-so-ringing endorsement.

“..He’s definitely got to get into shape but we need as many bodies as we can,” Duhon said. “He can be another option late in a game…”

Curry is one of those people that is super sensitive and gets down on himself very easily. I think Coach D knows this and is trying to build his confidence sort of in the same way IT did. Remember Shaq commenting that he didnt want to hurt Eddy’s feelings?

At this point — with 40 some days til the deadline trying to get Eddy in a position where he can he traded for anything better than taking on someone elses problem is a pipe dream. Remember we gave up two number one’s for him. I know its split milk but we have plenty of time in the grand scope of things to rebuild Eddy’s confidence and perhaps get something more substantial next year.

If Coach D can motivate Eddy to play for him it will be his greatest accomplishment ever. I think the plan here is to get Eddy implemented int he system and runnig up and down the court and see what they can get from him over the next 13 months. At that point he’ll have another year off his contract and will hopefully have his image repaired to the point we can make a decent move with him..Donnie is Mr. patience and wont pull the trigger on dumping Eddy at a bargain basement price
