I think should Bosh join the team he will sign an extension beyond 2010 because the Knicks have Dantoni (players like him), they have cap space to get him help in 2010 (Lebron, or Wade or 2 good players) and it's New York. The majority of your paycheck is taken by taxes in Canada and just by coming to New York he would make more money not including the increased opportunity for endorsements. If Bosh was traded here he re-signs long term, no doubt.

Which brings me back to my point, someone earlier said..."i just can’t understand giving up our three best players for a guy we can easily sign in less than two years."

My argument to that is :

1) Our 3 "best" players are good to nice players that have not been able to carry this team. Bosh is a talent that can do that with the right system and coaching. I proposed Lee, Harrington and Robinson for Bosh and I don't believe Harrington or Robinson will be better than Gallo and Chandler in 2 years. We should hope so even without any trades.

2) There is not much difference talent wise between the potential of our 3 best players and players 4 through 6 .

3) By getting a superstar that other players want to play with before leaving it up to free agency you secure a player that increases your ability to add other talented quality players easily and many times at a bargain. Remember, Boston used a similiar strategy when they attempted to obtain Garnett. He initially refused but when Ainge was able to obtain Ray Allen he dropped his block of the trade and agreed to go to the Celtics. This opened the way for Boston to add depth at a discount rate because good players clamored to play with that nucleus.

Mucha- You are right with that. He would have to sign an extension before the summer of 2010.

Trading a lot for Bosh wouldn't make sense unless he agrees to sign an extension right after he gets traded. We can't risk losing Lee plus Chandler for nothing.

Wilson Chandler has the potential to be an all-star, we have to be aware of that. And I don't see how David Lee could be willing to resign in Toronto this summer anyways.

Chris- I see what your saying I was a bit unclear before though I meant that Lee and Harrington aren't as good as a package mavs can put together but after thinking about it a bit more and realizing bass contract (i thought it was cheap locked up for a few years) I would def take lee and harrington over howard and bass.
To trading lee and Chandler it might be worth it I think as good as lee looks in this system and as much as i like his effort on both ends, there is much bosh can bring to the table that Lee cannot. Plus would you rather pair a superstar with lee or bosh. Make no mistake abot it I think this is the choice considering if we dont trade lee than we probably re-sign him which kills the cap space in 2010 unless we can find anybody to take curry (unlikely). As much as i like wil's potential and his defense it might be a decision that needs to be made. hopefully we can get a deal done without him though say Nate, Lee and Harrington

I'd give Lee and Chandler in a heartbeat. We have too many SF/PFs. As of now, we have Chandler and Gallo who (barring trade) will be here in 2010 and Harrington who wants to. Plus, our goal would be to add two more big players, with the best case being Lebron (SF) or Amare/Bosh (PF). We need to turn some of these swingmen into big guys, and Bosh is as big and consistent as they come.

A guy of Bosh's caliber would require Lee, Chandler, and a third player (Nate maybe?) + cap filler (have not looked at the contracts) and probably a pick.

I'd do whatever it takes to have this guy already at 2010. He definitely re-ups here for the most he can get, and then we have Bosh, Gallo (+2 years of experience and hopefully weight gain), and either Al/Duhon holdover, and a pretty attractive roster for Lebron or Wade to decide to come play for.

I see Bosh as the most attainable of the Big 3 (Lebron, Wade, Bosh), because Lebron has the hometown ties and a championship caliber roster, Wades got Miami as a premier FA destination and a young gun in Beasley, while Bosh has the least attractive city in basketball and a team going nowhere.

Even so, I'd trade the house to gaurentee we get him. Half these guys wont be here anyway and how many minutes does Chandler get if we have Lebron?

Oh so now there are 2 Jalen Roses out there.who might just be saying this just to get Bosh traded. Even if this were true, Colangelo won't automatically trade Bosh right away because trading Jermaine O"Neal and maybe even Jason Kapono is supposed to be the team's priority right now and if they get 1 or 2 good wing players by the start of next season they could improve enough to convince Bosh to re-sign or to at the very least use his player option to stay with the team 1 more season thus becoming one of the best free agents in 2011. Colangelo would be foolish to be in a hurry to trade Bosh because it would end up being another Carter situation which would ultimately cost him his job. Even if he did trade Bosh it would be smarter to trade him in 2010 otherwise none of the top 2010 free agents will sign with Toronto. Plus Mark Cuban wouldn't trade Dirk and has already publicly stated that he won't trade Josh Howard, so that leaves Jason Kidd or Jason Terry plus expiring contract players or draft picks but Jermaine O'Neal's contract more closesly matches Kidd's than Bosh's and to get Kidd Toronto would have to make the trade by this season although with how hard it took to bring Kidd to Dallas, why would Colangelo risk trying to get him when he could try to get Nash instead even if they lost Bosh? but he's already satisfied with Calderon running the point as it is, so all that rambling shows how ridiculous the chances are of Bosh being traded to Dallas and that it leaves teams like Miami, Phoenix, Cleveland, Detroit to be the top contenders, not Dallas. If Bosh does get traded I would want it to be to Phoenix for Amare Stoudemire *wishes the Raptors forum would let me sign up to request this trade*.
