Wizards Discussing Jeffries?

Via our pal Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo.

“…The Washington Wizards still have interest in bringing back New York Knicks forward Jared Jeffries, an Eastern Conference official said. Jeffries played for the Wizards his first four seasons in the league…”

There are few in this business as informed as AW. Who would be included on the Wiz’s end?  At first thought it would seem that Brendan Haywood would be the fit, but that deal doesn’t improve the team this year as Haywood is recovering from wrist surgery. Could it be the well-traveled Mike James? Yeah, there’s no chance that happens, it’s late and I’m probably already dreaming, but the salaries match.

Etan Thomas, Mike James, Brendan Haywood are guys that make it work. Another deal that works is Stevenson Pecherov

  • Chris Alvino

I want Blatche. I will give them Jeffries, Roberson and Jerome James’s insurance covered deal for Etan Thomas, Blatche, and Juan Dixon.

  • BiggieSmalls

James’ deal isnt insurance covered yet in a trade.

  • Chris Alvino

I wrote that before I saw your comment in the other post.

  • Chris Alvino

Bottom line is that I want Blatche. I do not know if the Knicks can nab him, but I want him.

  • DaJoka

Why do you want Blatche when they have McGee and Nick Young?
    Blatche is a headcase bro.
Keep him in Washington and send us one of the 2 mentioned above.
I can’t believe they have an interest in Jeffries….for what?
I also can’t believe Walsh screwed up that deal with the Bulls. How do you ask for more than Larry Hughes when your giving up 2 players that you don’t even use? (Malik and James)
Sometimes I just don’t understand what Walsh is doing. I praise him when he makes a great trade like the 2 that shed our cap space but how do you pass on the Sac deal and the Chi deal?
Come on Walsh….let’s be realistic here.

I would like to see something like this work out with the wiz..

    Knicks trade:
    Nate Robinson
    Jared Jeffries
    Anthony Roberson

    Wizards trade:
    Nick Young
    Brendan Haywood
    2009 or 2010 1st round draft pick

works in the trade machine. Both haywood and young’s contracts are up in time for summer 2k10, and the draft pick would be a lottery pick, giving us most likely 2 lottery picks in this year’s draft. Not sure if the wiz would give up this year’s draft pick, I highly doubt it, but it would be great if they did. nate would have to guarantee them he will resign a contract and stay with washington. A future lineup of Arenas, Robinson, Butler, Jamison, Mcgee or Blatche would be a good one for the wizards, as long as Mcgee and Blatche mature and reach their potential. The knicks would be able to activate Ewing Jr. and by getting washington’s pick, it would allow the knicks to grab a player like rubio or monroe, or both! =D

too bad the chances of this happening are very slim to none, but I know whoever is reading this has a smile on their face imagining/praying for something like this to happen.

The Wizards need money (expiring contracts) and they are reportedly willing to deal their first round draft pick if they can get what they want. The Knicks have more than 30’000’000$ expiring this summer. Dumping Jeffries would be great but I’d rather try to get their pick if the Knicks can get it.

Malik Rose, Nate Robinson and cash for Etan Thomas, Brandan Haywood and Washington’s 2009 lottery pick ?

etan thomas’ health is an issue for me, and something that I feel can hold back a trade. I think young can step in and be a contributor right away. i feel like if we give the wiz nate, they may give up that draft pick. Young would be a great fit in the 7 seconds or less system because he is a pure scorer. maybe walsh will read this and get some ideas!

    Chris,
I respect your opinion although I normally don’t agree with so much of what you say but on this one I think you are dead on. I believe adding Nate to and Jefferies contract is what they have to do, JJ still has some value and putting Nate in which they have to because they aren’t resigning him can actually bring them a player of decent value and caliber. You say you want Andre Blatche I can live with that I think there are some better players out there than that, but I respect your opinion. What I think people are to enthralled with is having a player who’s contract is done before 2010, but a guy like blatche 4 years for 2.5 mil a season is a huge bargain just like Salmons was. The Knicks have to be conscious of 2010 but if there is a bargain contract out there they need to find them, they need some good cheap pieces to put around two superstar free agents we can’t just have 12 new players. Plus I like bringing in Juan Dixon into this system also I think the guy can shoot very well.
Now that Chander is back with the Hornets I think the Knicks should go after him and , I think this is the direction the Knicks should go in
    Hornets get:

    Nate
    Jefferies
    and Malik Rose

    Knicks get:
    Chandler
Rasual Butler ( a guy that can shoot)

That only adds 5 mil in money for the year 2010, and brings us a piece that can actually attract a big star, also with that money they can resign Lee giving them a team of Chandler, Lee, Danilo, Lebron and whoever they draft this year is a bright future.

Getting Washington’s first round draft pick – which is available according to a few sources – would be greater than dumping Jeffries. If Donnie Walsh can get the opportunity to draft Griffin, he should not sleep on it. JUST TRY TO GET WASHINGTON’S PICK.

Malik Rose, Nate Robinson and cash for Etan Thomas, Brandan Haywood and Washington’s 2009 lottery pick.

  • Chris Alvino

    First off, thanks greatman.

Let’s not get out of control here. I highly doubt that Washington would deal their lottery pick this year for Jeffries.

I would also rather have Nick Young or McGee over Blatche. I just feel like Blatche might be attainable, where the other two would be unattainable for simply dealing Jeffries.

I think that if we do not resign Nate, we might be able to sign-and-deal him for greater value than simply rushing a deal with him now.

  • XMan

Just swap Jeffries for Etan Thomas, whom the Wiz want to dump. Ernie Grunfield loves Haywood, so count that out.
