Monroe to Stay at Georgetown?

by Tommy Dee on April 5th, 2009 at 10:57 am

I’ve been talking to several people in the know in regards to the Big East Conference who have informed me that Georgetown’s talented (albeit underachieving) freshman Greg Monroe is heavily leaning towards returning to DC.

This would be a blow for the Knicks who do need a big man, although I think Donnie Walsh has something up his sleeve. He may trade up seeing that the talent seems to be getting thin. I think Walsh makes a big run at the top of the draft. The question becomes will he be able to find a partner to trade up with.

I like Monroe but I was more than disappointed that Georgetown was so bad this year. I mean, was there a BIGGER disappointment in ALL of college hoops this year than the Hoyas?

With Monroe seriously considering returning, the big men in the draft aside from Blake Griffin, Jordan Hill and Hasheem Thabeet aren’t considered top talents.

NBAdraft.net has the Knicks taking Kansas’ Cole Aldrich, yet draftexpress.com is reporting that Aldrich, himself, is leaning towards returning to school.

If Monroe, and Teague return this will be the worse draft in years. I pray to god we pull off the first pick.

Well a lot of players say that then declare – but this is really (I mean really) bad news anyways.

I really like James Harden and Tyreke Evans after Blake Griffin though. And I like Willie Warren’s potential.

Remember that you can declare and go thru the workouts and talk to the teams about your draft position. IF you do not hire an agent you can pull outup to 7 days before the draft.

itis a good idea to allow College kids to talk to the scouts, management of NBA teams to gauge their value before making the call.

If Monroe gets a top five promise why would he go back? Makes no sense. All players should go thru the draft process and then pull out if they dont have an agent. Draft slot promises are like gold. The teams never go back on their word.

I would LOVE if Donnie moved up to the 2 or 3 slot if we land at 7-9

Rubio is looking for a big market to pay that 8 mil buyout and it just doesnt make sense for a sponsor to make that commitment for Sacto or OKC.

Should be very interesting. I like out odds to get Ricky in Orange and Blue. Trade out Duhon and sign Nash after he ops out to be his tutor.

PLayoffs will be guaranteed in 09/10

With ball distributors like Rubio and Nash King James may demand a trade to NY during the season.

Don’t forget about Ed Davis as a big man. He has the most potential of anyone not named Griffin. He blocks shots, pulls down boards and has a nice touch around the basket.

  • Brett Justin

with this draft being “weak” if aldrich and monroe go back to school it would be a huge mistake on there part they both would be high lottery picks

Ed Davis is coming out this year? He is good but I would rather have Deon Thompson, I think Deon will be a good down low presence in the NBA.
