Live at the Lottery

by Tommy Dee on May 19th, 2009 at 6:40 pm

6:39- So we’re in the house and as always this is a first class event. At first glance all the beat writers are surrounding Donnie Walsh, Chris Webber and Allan Houston are in the building. And wouldn’t you know it here comes Commissioner Stern so let’s see what he has to say…

7:03- Commissioner Stern just finished his State of the Union and he was very non-nonchalant with the teenagers going either to overseas or the NBDL saying that ultimately it was “the players and their families’ decision.”

He also had a laugh at the expense of the whole WWE situation assuring us that it would be taken care of. Again, the irony is that the two most brilliant sports marketing mind that I know, Stern and Vince McMahon, have collided. It’s a non issue though, in Stern’s words, again, it will be handled.

I asked Stern if he had ever seen anyone  , at the same age, as good as Lebron. His reply was, jokingly, “I don’t know much about basketball” but then went on to applaud Dwight Howard, Carmelo Anthony and Kobe Byrant.”

7:26- Spot on Hahn is next to me and he’s telling all his Fixers reading this to “go back to where you belong.” Alan is a great dude, and will be a guest on TKB.tv at a date TBD.

7:40- For those interested, check out my boy Sebastian Pruiti’s live lottery chat at netsarescorching.

8:05- bilas has thabeet at the second best player? Woah.
Also, houston brought reggie jackson as luck…draw your own conclusions. He should have brought winfield, at least he was Mr. May…

8:15- hanging with jonathan givony who will also jump on TKB.tv next week to talk draft picks. Draftexpress.com flat gets it done.

8;30- thabeet is going to drop like a wedding dress on draft night…

8:35- hey look, reggie and ahmad right in front of me…

8:45- yep that was me behind reggie.

846- needed winfield- it’s 8.

Give us the good word on who else is repping tonight.

Other than H20 and C-Webb providing heartbreak, will they destroy any other body parts?

Make sure you catch up with Kevin Love. His comments about being snubbed for the umpteenth time will provide me with a glimmer of hope.

I am in London and for some reason I am staying up til 2.30am to watch this (well if it is on League Pass Broadband).

I have like a 6.1% chance of going to sleep happy (3rd seed doesnt count)

  • pedro

i’m in europe also, but planning on watching the blackhawks and red wings.

  • Chris Alvino

    Wow. Pedro, where are you?

danisrob- I have to get out to London. One of my best friends is actually working for a bank in London. He moves out there in August.

  • Funk

what’s everybody thinking? what pick are we gonna land? I have a feeling were gonna get the #3, but in that chance that we do land the #1 pick, i’m calling it now that OKC gets the #2 right behind us..the stars are aligned fellas!

  • NJirish7

I think we’re sticking at 8. I think the NBA will make sure we never get the #1 pick anymore because there would be such an outcry and claims of the lottery being rigged in our favor it would be a PR disaster for them.

  • Chris Alvino

Im not sure on that. But the Knicks only have a 2.8 percent chance of winning the top pick. That’s not a high chance. If the Knicks were the Kings right now, I would think that the Knicks would have a shot.

  • CircleLimit4

    The suspense is terrible…

    …I hope it lasts.

  • Chris Alvino

    Here we go…

  • Chris Alvino

I want to be that Shannon guy right now.

  • CircleLimit4

The way they drag this crap out is ridiculous, it’s like an episode of 24. Is Jack Bauer the first pick?

  • KBT1615

In some weird way I like the suspense.

  • CircleLimit4

    Truth.

  • Chris Alvino

Hey Tommy, get me Reggie’s autograph. Please.

  • CircleLimit4

    I’m feeling another commercial

  • Chris Alvino

It looks like you have a good seat.

  • Funk

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  • Chris Alvino

    Damn.

  • Chris Alvino

If OKC gets that top pick, then wow.

  • CircleLimit4

    Ha C-Webb looked thrilled

  • Chris Alvino

I had a feeling that Memphis would get it. I wonder if my feeling will be right.

  • BiggieSmalls

    Welcome to NY Stephen Curry

  • Magik_Trick

So, is this the part we start contract negotiations with Stephen Curry?

  • BiggieSmalls

if Memphis gets #2 will they deal?

  • KBT1615

isn’t it funny how the kings got 5th pick haha.

  • NJirish7

    Start printing the Curry jerseys

  • Magik_Trick

If OKC gets it, givethem the Championship for about year 2013

  • Magik_Trick

The Clippers, really dont need Blake Griffin..

  • Mucha

    For Jordan Hill IMO.

  • Mucha

I’m not a hater, seriously. I am not. But I’m jealous.

  • Funk

i have a feeling we will be acquiring that #2 pick from memphis as long as we can promise them d-lee

  • Funk

which was the best possible team to land the #2 pick..this might actually be a good thing

  • CircleLimit4

Memphis might be really good in in a few years if Rubio lives up to a fraction of the hype.

  • Mucha

I still think the Knicks will be in a great position to trade up for Ricky Rubio.

The Grizzlies will trade down for Jordan Hill or trade up for Griffin if the Clippers want to get Rubio (and that would make a lot of sense). The Thunder will pick James Harden or Hasheem Thabeet in my opinion. And Rubio might want to play in a big market and NY is the only option left.

There are three options in my opinion, Stephen Curry, Tyreke Evans or Ricky Rubio if he blackmails everybody a la Gallinari.

[...] It’s the first thing I thought of when I saw Reggie, and Twittered and posted it immediately. Apparently, 1050 ESPN’s Andrew Marchand felt the same way. “…With Reggie Jackson as his good luck charm, Allan Houston could not move the Knicks up from the eighth spot in the draft. [...]
