Fan Confidence Rating

Heading into the draft and with the off season in full swing, I’m interested to get your response:

On a scale of 1–10, 10 being most confident, 1 being no confidence at all, how confident are you in the overall future-direction of the Knicks?

    Hey Tommy,

I know this is off topic but with DW actively going after Memphis’ 27th pick, could you do a post on prospects at that spot? Maybe a post on the best combinations of first round players at the 8th and 27th pick?

I picked 7 – I have a great deal of confidence in Walsh & the Coaches, but I’m just concerned that the problems are still too big and it will take a few more miracles to make them respectable. At this point, I’d rather take a “solid” player who can contribute right away than take someone with more upside who’s more of a project.

  • Jeff Cykiert

But the whole team is a project, in and of itself. If we can have a 40 win team with the youngest starting lineup in the league and players developing into future-stars, i will be happy.

That being said, their are types of ‘projects’ you stay away from at this point – Thabeet.

I just read this on espn rumor central:
Will OKC Trade Down To Get Curry?
The Combine buzz is Oklahoma City, selecting third, also is very interested in Stephen Curry and has scouted him furiously.

“Like they had season tickets,” Curry said.

Perhaps the Thunder could be a Knicks partner looking to trade down.

    Hmmmm…

How about dealing Mobleys insurance padded contract and 3 million to the Hornets for the 21 pick and Antonio Daniels? We get a backup PG who comes off the books next year and another first round pick, the hornets save about 10 million in total money and lose a guy in Daniels that didn’t get much PT after they picked him up last year.

  • Jeff Cykiert

They got daniels for a reason – they need a backup PG even more than we do. I’m sure they’ll be changing the roster this year, though, so if a trade like that becomes available we need to get on that.

The Hornets financial sitch is about as dire as they come, I think the only way they give up a draft pick is if someone takes Peja’s contract.

  • Chris Alvino

    Peja might retire.

No way that is the only stipulation for them to trade their pick. It is not as if it is for the chance to take Blake Griffin. Their financial problems might lead them to simply deal their pick for cash. That pick is one to watch.

circlelimit- We will begin talking about late 1st round prospects soon. But that combo will change depending on which pick we could acquire. NO’s pick at 21 will yield a different player than at Memphis’ 27th pick.

what day does free agency start?

  • jcmoney

I picked seven. I love D’Antoni, feel mixed about Walsh. So far though, his activity this off season has given me hope that he is moving in the right direction. Still, 11 years of nothing keeps me weary.

Things look better then ever for getting Lebron in 2010.

This summer the Cavs are right up against the luxury tax and their two diminishing exposed bigs will both be stupid not to take their player options. Which means that the cavs will have no choice but to go into next season with virtually the same squad. After watching this series i see no way that the Cavaliers are going to win a championship with this team. If the Knicks can make smart moves this offseason(we dont need a huge offseason) then get lucky and get curry back in the lineup in shape and ship him out they will look VERY attractive for lebron or other allstars come 2010.

Shipping nate and JJ would be very smart in my opinion, maybe they get back a 2010 first rounder? or a first rounder for this year? in any case i think that getting rid of the cap for 2010 and nates selfish ways will be a huge help.

2010 could look something like this

    Curry or Holliday/Nash
    Chandler/Hughes
    Lebron
    Galo
    Amare

Bench would have to consist of a couple “stoppers”

Even if u get lebron out of there and put in even a decent player i still think that lineup could contend for chips under dantoni

  • CircleLimit4

I have to disagree. They’re not looking for Griffin’s, they’re looking for role players on the cheap. The Hornets will do everything in their power to keep Paul and West and draft picks give them cheap rookie contracts.

And don’t they still have to pay Peja if he retires?

    I voted #8.

I love Walsh, but have mixed feeling about D’Antoni. I love some things about him, but I think we may be looking to build a high powered offensive team that doesn’t play enough defense to win it all.
