More from Heyman Regarding the Yanks and Lebron

by Tommy Dee on May 31st, 2009 at 11:34 am

This is from Heyman’s twitter page. There’s nothing more in depth than his last note, but there is something about Heyman that I trust. He’s a solid reporter. Of course, with Lebron now out, the only thing in my mind keeping Lebron from the Big Apple is a championship next season.

“…there’s a lotta scuttlebutt among yankee types that #lebron will be a knick. could just be wishful thinking, dont know…”

The Daily News grabbed C.C. the other day and added some more fuel to the fire.

“…Sabathia, who became friends with James during his years playing in Cleveland, won’t make any predictions, though he seems to believe that James would be a good fit in New York as a Knick.”It’s the biggest stage in the world and he’s the best player in the NBA,” Sabathia said. “If he wanted to come here, I think they’d welcome him with open arms.”

It’s gonna be a LONG 13 months…

Tommy- I thought you thought that winning a championship was the most likely way that LeBron would leave?

I think that was just wishful thinking from die-hard knicks fans who started thinking the Cavs would actually win. Now that they lost again, we can revert back to our original, more logical ideas.

After watching the cavs crumble like that, you gotta believe that if they keep the same team and lose in the playoffs again, that is definitely our best shot to get him.

Last night was the first night i have actually felt hopeful about getting LeBron since… well, since we first started talking about it.

The problem is that the cavs now KNOW that the team they have can’t matchup well enough to win a tight playoff series… Who else can defend the wing? Who else can score in the paint? Delonte on Turkoglu and Andy on Rashard, all game? Are you KIDDING!? That alone should spell automatic defeat.

Anyway, the reason that’s a problem is that now they are more likely to go after a big name this summer, but i suspect whoever goes to CLE (bosh?) will talk to LeBron first and make sure he actually wants to stay there… So, if we see one of LBJ’s olympic friends suite up in Cleveland next year, i think that’s a huge step closer to him staying. After watching Z and Andy and Wallace in the paint all night, and Mo and Delonte and Gibson guarding 6-10 guys who are superior to them in every way imaginable, I realize that the cavs have one piece and that’s it. The lakers can be amazing when odom, gasol, kobe, ariza, etc… play well, but the cavs don’t even have any other game changers like that. I suspect they will be getting one this summer.

Maybe bosh goes to Cle, they both lose together next year to orlando, and both come here together!

Lebron Is Frustrated With Cleveland You See It On His Face And After Last Night Im 85% sure he is coming.
    Going To Love That
    Curry
    Ill Will
    KING JAMES

    lineup.
Guys Right Now Kobe is Better Than Lebron but when Bron is 30 he will be way better than Kobe was when he was 30.

That lineup is good, but Lee and Amare probably wouldn’t play together, they play the same roll for us.

I’d stick galo in at that spot and bring lee in off the bench.

Chandler, LeBron, Lee, and Amare on the floor together isn’t nearly enough perimeter play or shooting.

I agree. Unless Chandler improves his outside shot a lot, I see Gallo being out there over Lee if that’s the team.

I believe we have to stop thinking in terms PG, SG, SF, PG and C. We have to start thinking in terms of skill sets. A team needs a balance of inside and outside scoring, passing, rebounding, ball handling, ball stealing, shot blocking, interior defense, preminter defense etc.. In the old days, those skills were more or less defined by the position a player played. That’s not the case anymore. Players are way more versatile. There are big guys that can shoot from outside really well and handle the ball and little guys that rebound well and get to hoop easily etc… .

The bigger problem is putting together a team that can defend all the various combinations teams throw at you these days and still have a good offense.

    I love that team! :-)
