Hill: Warriors will probably take me…

“…[Jordan] Hill, 21, is perhaps unlikely to be there when the Warriors’ turn comes at No. 7, considering he’s regarded as the most NBA-ready big man next to Oklahoma power forward Blake Griffin, who’s expected to go No. 1 to the Los Angeles Clippers. But if Hill is there, he may tempt the Warriors to disregard need and go for the best player available.

Hill held a solo workout with the Warriors on Friday morning. He said he was “pretty good” in his showing, which consisted, among other things, of running the floor, shooting midrange jumpers and working with his left hand.

He said he had dinner with Warriors coach Don Nelson on Thursday. He walked away thinking No. 7 might be the lowest he’ll go.

“He said if I’m not picked in the top six,” Hill said, “they’re probably going to take me…”

Interesting that the Warriors would go big, especially when they can do well to pair a point guard with Monta Ellis. We shall see about this one…

Guys Jennings Officially took it back I guess someone made him or it was genuine either way he was smart enough to do it.

“One more thing, I went overboard about the Rubio thing, I was wrong for saying he’s all hype that’s not fair. I was wrong, I guess I just wanna compete against the best. But off the court the kid is a great guy. I will never disrespect him, I just like too go against the best”.

  • Chris Alvino

Even though he is brash, Jennings’ attitude about being the best is a good thing. A lot of times, players like that flare out, but other times, players with that attitude do whatever they have to do to be the best. They stop at nothing and are willing to run through walls to beat their opponent.

Hill to the Warriors makes some sense. The only true rugged forward they have is Ronny Turiaf. There have been rumblings that the Warriors would make a play at Amare or Bosh this summer, but if Jordan hill plays near the way he did in college last year, Hill will be a suitable starter for that team to pair with Biedrins.

They need a point guard desperately, but they need a PF as well.

The question, if they take Hill, becomes what to do with Brandan Wright and Anthony Randolph. If they take Hill, they cannot keep both of those players around. One has to be dealt. This draft is loaded at the point and not so much in the frontcourt. The Warriors could potentially deal Wright for a first round pick this year, or for an established PG. Would Brandan Wright for Kyle Lowry and a 2nd round pick be underselling for the Warriors? I do not necessarily like Wright’s game. I thought he was overrated as a freshman at UNC and I think he was drafted too high. Lowry would stabalize them at the point and the Rockets would get frontcourt insurance on Ming.

  • KBT1615

Flynn and Jennings aren’t the best PG’s in this draft but they are my favorite two.

  • Bart

I’m Just Glad its not Wilson Chandler Kobe is making these crazy shots on.

  • Chris Alvino

Haha, yeah. I wish the Knicks were good enough to lose in the finals though.

  • mk218377

they’d be wrong to take hill because itd be the wrong thing for anthony randolf. the guy has crazy potential. its a situation where drafting best available over drafting for need doesnt pan out. especially because hill probably wont be heads and shoulders above some of the pg’s that will be available at 7

  • Knicks4lyfe8

Knicks should build a team like the Magic.
Except with-out a 3 point shooting pf. (Dwight needed help down low)

    Pg: Stephen Curry/ Chris Duhon/Rodriguez
    Sg: Wilson Chandler/ Larry Hughes
    Sf: Danilo Gallinari/ Al Harrington
    Pf. David Lee/ Chris Wilcox
    C: Marcin Gortat/ BJ Mullins

    Definitely Play-Off worthy.
    maybe even a 7th or 6th -cede

    Anyone Agree?/Disagree?
    Opinions?

  • Bart

They could take Hill and use Randolph as the SF they do need a real big man so I could see why Hill would be a fit.

  • mk218377

maybe if that squad added amare in a year they could compete in the east

  • KBT1615

How about we go for Hedo? Him and Rashard causing mismatches is the main reason they won?

  • Bart

I was thinking about this, assessing the Knicks situation :

Stephen Curry – Can be a star PG, the last second shot taker, the clutch guy.

Sg: Wilson Chandler – Doesn’t worry me hes solid on both ends and still has a lot of upside.

Sf: Danilo Gallinari – ?? Unproven is he gonna be able to lead the team in his second year in the League.

Pf. David Lee – I don’t know if I can see Lee as a starting PF on a championship team PF is such a dominate position in the NBA Offensively and Defensively and he isn’t on either end.

C: Marcin Gortat – He can probably be a solid option hes a solid defender.

PF: Al Harrington – Can be a Odom type if he can understand passing the ball is a option also.

PG: Chris Duhon – Hes a Veteran that you need on your team to make things fit together.

We have some pieces but if the Knicks are really gonna get some where I think they need a DOMINATE PF with a post game not just a PNR guy thats if we don’t get Lebron.

  • Knicks4lyfe8

Not even Amare, wut about ty thomas?
    hes solid on both ends.

  • Knicks4lyfe8

This is a bold statement to make. but i can see Stephen Curry’s jersey in the rafters.

  • CircleLimit4

That’s big of him. I’m more at ease now about his leadership abilities and class.

  • CircleLimit4

Maybe they’re still confident Ellis can run the offense and Nellie has come to grips that he’s stuck with Crawford.

  • Chris Alvino

Haha… Curry’s name in the rafters. He is not even on the team.

And I think Gortat will be very overpaid, but hopefully not by Walsh though

  • Chris Alvino

What about Brandan Wright to the Lakers for Jordan Farmar and the 29th pick? What about Wright for Farmar straight up?

If the Lakers lose either Odom or Ariza, they can use Wright to help fill that void.

  • Chris

Hey, this is a great post and you have an excellent blog here. This is a great info center on the Yankees for my forum http://www.nysportscrunch.com. We are trying to connect all New York sports fans.

  • bob go knicks

the NEW YORK KNICKERBOCKERS..with/DONNIE WALSH have just shown us how to stay at 8 at pick the man everyone wanted at4,5,or 7.bring CURRY in,for two months tell anyone who will listen” this guy is the perfect fit for us ,,,we must do anything to get him…Soteams ## 3 to #7 are all psyched up to pick steph…….bing#@^*7&bang”!@#$boomso the other kids pick up curry and right into our laps falls at # 8brandon jennings, jordan hill.or jru holliday..our plan worked, curry isnt THAT good and we got a point wh is better.and we couldnt of done it without help from our ignorant sportswriters.each with the greatest job on the planet, making up fantasy about real people guys who play hoops for a living.these sports writers were fed bs,bs and more BS until the knicks made it look like curry was the next mike jordannot only did you guys make it look like stephen curry was the best thing since sliced bread, you got teams 3—-7 thinking “HOW AM I GONNA LIVE WITHOUT THIS GUY……STILL THINK YER REALLY INSIDE GUYS? AHHHH DONT WORRY,JUST LIKE WHEN YOU HAVE REAL GOOD STORIES,NOBODY REMEMBERS WHO WROTE THOSE EITHER

  • joetheknick

Opinion: Wilcox needs to be replaced by Brandon Bass a grittier FA forward. Gortat is too expensive as a free agent. Marcus Camby and DeAndre Jordan from LAC needs to be top priority for a trade. Camby will be an expiring contract. Eddy Curry needs some time at center with the hopes that he can be traded. Otherwise I am ready to go to war with this group. What do you think?

  • joetheknick

Lee is a dominant player. He simply needs a help defender beside him to guard the paint . Last years team was clearly inadequate at defending the paint and closing out games. Stephen Curry can be the game closer. All we need is a paint defender. Got enough offense. Will Charles Oakley come out of retirement? Whose our man???

  • Mucha

Not in my opinion, he’s a poor one-on-one defender, he has no post-game whatsoever and he’s a poor finisher around the basket (except when he dunks on people). Mayble he’ll get better I don’t know, but I’d much rather keep David Lee. Thomas is totally inconsistent.

  • ScottD

    Bob Go Knicks,

I’m just curious, is Stephen Curry also in on your conspiracy theory?
The reason that I ask is because it was him, not the Knicks who keep saying that he would be perfect in NYC.
I have only heard one comment which was credited to Mike D’antoni, and if I am correct, it came through Stephen Curry, not directly from Mike D’antoni, and the comment was that Allan Houston could end up being the being the second best shooter in Knicks history.

  • joetheknick

I totally agree David Lee is a keeper. Hopefully he will sign for 5 years at 40 million. That puts him at a salary level withTJ Ford, Jose Calderon, Jason Terry, Memet Okur, Josh Howard. Lee is definitey in this talent group. Why compare him to the skill level of a superstar who gets 15 million a year. Lee needs some help in the paint other then Jeffries or Wilcox or Malik Rose. I think help is coming.

  • bob go knicks

NOT THE KNICKS,the KNICKS beat writers! the knicks writers have been pounding it in our heads for weeks “what a perfect fit”the fans pick up on it,and think CURRY is better than he really is,in the meantime no KNICKS exec.has said anything,(year after year they rarely do)the media and then the FANS pump these guys up and niether has seen them play…i call it “ACCIDENTAL CONSPIRACY”….i mean in the last 6 weeks, what has manegment said, that tips their hand as to who they will take on june 25? NOTHING! the beat writer (who pretty much have ZERO info)write what they feel will happen without so much as a quote .OK give me one quote from DONNIE WALSH or MIKE D’ANTONI that makes you think they want STEPHEN CURRY on the team real bad!there is none, all of the quotes belong to the sporstswriters, who really have no info(also mock draft guys who also have no info)

  • Bruno

    My dream scenario:

Knicks trade Al Harrington & Jared Jeffries & #8 to Washington for Andray Blatche, Mike James & #5. Draft Steph Curry. Re-sign Lee, S&T Nate to Portland for Joel Przybilla.

    Przybilla
    Lee
    Gallo
    Chandler
    S.Curry
    ————
    Duhon
    Blatche
    Hughes
    E.Curry
    James

  • Bruno

I forgot to add in Etan Thomas.

  • Bruno

If Washington would take Mobley instead of Harrington, GREAT. But I’m sure they’d want Al to play SF between Jamison and Butler.

  • italian stallion

    I ike it

  • joetheknick

A good plan on the Nate for Przybilla but I doubt Portland will let him go. Washington works as well although I am not seen Blatche show any grit in the paint. Etan Thomas may be a candidate for retirement. If he knee will allow, I like his game. James works with his expiring contract

  • Bruno

If Portland could add a Ryan Hollins, or someone like him, I could see them letting Pryz go. Of course, we could also S&T Nate for Hollins.

  • Bruno

“Chase Budinger was awful in my opinion. He just doesn’t play. All he wants to do is shoot jumpers. That’s not basketball. He didn’t want to be there. Didn’t want to compete. He couldn’t put it on the floor. You should have seen his face when he was switched onto Paul Harris. He definitely didn’t want anything to do with him. “

  • Sergio

You can’t take Jordan Hill’s comments too seriously. Don Nelson is impossible to predict. There was a story last week where DeMar Derozan made similar comments about being told by the Warriors he would be picked if he was still available when they draft.

  • Mucha

Pryzbilla is too old and too expensive in my opinion. His salary would throw the whole “LeBron James and Co” plan out the window, we don’t need to add another Jared Jeffries type of contract. Looking at the big picture, aquiring him would be a terrible move.

  • Mucha

Lee’s a good player but he’s NOT a dominant player, I mean come on. And he doesn’t need to have a help defender, he simply needs to bust his ass and play harder on the defensive end.

  • Bruno

IF Jeffries went to Washington, you wouldn’t be adding a contract, you’d be swaping Jeffries for Pryz.

  • Mucha

I understand that but shipping Jeffries would be a miracle, why would you throw the benefits away for a 30 years old role player? You could just sign him in 2011.

  • bob go knicks

i agree with MUCHA,DAVID LEE isnt even close to being a dominent player,he needs to go.LEE IS an optical illusion, even though he is under the basket most of the time,he is a very soft player who doesnt like to mix it up

  • bob go knicks

how do you know that gortat is too expensive?hes def not as expensive as marcus camby

  • bob go knicks

if you are ready to go to war with this group, then be ready to be picking in the lottery again next year!(WHOOPS ,ALMOST FORGOT,WE DONT HAVE A FIRST ROUND PICK NEXT YEAR)so we better not “GOP TO WAR” with this sorry group of losers

  • joetheknick

Camby is an expiring contract at 7.5 million. Gortat is a free agent who will be looking for a big contract and may get it from a center hungry team. That is why Gortat is too expensive. We need cap room for 2010.

  • bob go knicks

man!you gotta get over your DAVID LEE wet dream!hes not even close to the player that you think he is!on a good team hes the 7th or 8 th guy
