Boozer Stays With Jazz

As being reported on ESPN:

“After looking at his options, Carlos Boozer decided not to go anywhere.

“The power forward picked up the option on his contract and will remain with the Utah Jazz next season. He will earn $12.7 million and will join the star-studded free agent class of 2010.”

This doesn’t come as much of a surprise to me…

Boozer isn’t signing a long term deal, he is just collecting his 12 million for a final season in Utah — with the economy in shambles, and teams less likely to overspend on big talent right now, Boozer is wise to wait it out, collect his check, and see what he can get come next year.

Even if he is competing for the FA spotlight with the likes of LeBron, Wade, and Bosh, Boozer is a stud and will get plenty of consideration next summer as well…

Ben I’ve been hearing rumors that the Rockets are willing to trade Tracy McGrady for some help at the Center position now that the news about Yao Ming seems to be very negative. Reports have indicated that the Knicks are a possible suitor for McGrady and are offering Eddy Curry as that help the Rockets are looking for. Do you think Donnie would like to pull this move to get rid of Curry’s 11.3 million that is on the books for 2010/2011? I saw that this upcoming season is McGrady’s last year under contract and is scheduled to earn 23.2 million. I was looking into the Knicks roster and saw that they could pair up Curry’s contract with the expiring contract of Cuttino Mobley (who is scheduled to make 9.5 million this year) to make the deal work. I’d really like to see a Curry and Mobley for McGrady deal. Let me know what you think and if it is a real possibility.

Id love for something to happen betwen the Rockets and Knicks.

Realistically the Clippers sound like a better match with Kaman going to Houston as a place holder

Kind of bad news for the Knicks in that it collapses the Power Forward market.

    Does Milsap now move?

Sounds like Boozer couldnt get more than 12 mil per on a multi year deal or he would have jumped ship.

Or maybe he is just sticking with the devil he knows and buying another year to let things flesh out. He WAS hurt a lot this year so that has to affect his value

Detroit is stupid for not making it sound as if they would get him. If they spend 20 million on two free agents and one is not Boozer (which it will not be), then poor decision on their part. Hedo and Ben Gordon are not the same as Boozer and a MLE guard.

Just my opinion. They could have had Boozer with no competition. Absolutely none. Dumars blew it.
