Sadly, I see the parallel to the Mets’ Pedro signing: They gave him four year contract and he lived up to about a year and a half of it. The advent of Pedro on the Mets had nothing to do with them bringing in Beltran, who wanted to play for the Yanks and in fact offered to play in the Bx for less money but the Yanks decided instead to (I think) resign Bernie Williams. Delgado declined to sign with the Mets as a FA (He signed with Florida) but was traded to the Mets the following season.

Kidd is just using the Knicks to get Cuban to up the ante. Ironically, the most selfless basketball player is quite a different guy off the court. I would be surprised if Kidd did anything but take the highest offer.

Does anyone think we should go after Shawn Marion? I know he plays 3 and we have lots of 3/4 on the team but he would give us another athlete and he had is best season under Mike D @ the MLE he would be good value.

Mccants is good, but may seem 1 dimensional. I love Von Wafer’s explosiveness and moxy, but he sometimes loses control. They are underrated contributors though.

I think they would be solid bench pieces but I’d hate to have 3-4 million prevent us from getting that something extra in 2010.

I think Von Wafer would go for less than the MLE he mad like 500,000 last season 2 or 3 mill should be enough, he is really good.

Random though, but if we can trade for nash, I feel like we might want to spend our money on another shooting guard (offering less than an MLE). Maybe somebody like rashad mccants or even von wafer. I feel like they would be good additions for maybe 3-4 mil or so a year. That would leave our options open in regards to dealing hughes if he was wanted while also providing more depth at the 2.
