Hahn: Curry Moving Well

by Tommy Dee on July 12th, 2009 at 8:40 pm

Hahn is live tweeting from Vegas...he’s saying that Curry doesn’t look too thin, but his knee seems to be in decent shape.

By the way, enjoying the LJ 4-point play game on MSG Vault as we speak…wait for it!

The Van Gundy Diet Coke, big players making big pays…Gosh I need some playoff hoops.

Tom Hammond sounds as if he’s losing his mind.

Assist king or not, to this day I still don’t know how Reggie doesn’t get the last shot…what was Mark Jackson doing?

Speaking of Jackson, Chris Childs was a really solid player. Although they were different players, I’d take Childs over Nate. If no other upgrades are coming, I think that Toney Douglas could be in that Childs mold and as you know I think Duhon is a Ward-type.

Obviously, towards the end it went sour, but Childs was a playoff WARRIOR.

Recognize.

    Via Starberman :

“Eddy’s not only lost weight, he has lost his cornrows. Moving around beautifully on the court during drills tonight.”

It would be HUGE if he gets back to Old Eddy Curry form.

  • barnaby8787

19.5 and 7 would make eddy curry pretty sexy; not gonna lie (no homo). If we could keep him here (and he becomes productive) while shopping jj to get cap room for next year and he returns to old form; him and gallinari could be enticing enough for lebron. Not keeping my hopes up though.

  • BiggieSmalls

us twitter heads knew the corn rows were gone months ago… we need some comparative pics.

dunking with ease is an improvement for big eddy.

  • Bart

I wonder if there tempted to throw him out there in a summer league game.

  • barnaby8787

Yeah, I think a starting lineup of ghostface, almond, ewing jr.(since gallinari is still recovering), hill, and curry would be fun to watch

  • Chris Alvino

If they threw Curry out there in a summer league game, there is a risk that he looks slow against lesser talent. I am not sure if that helps his value.

But if he dominates on the block, then that can only help.

He is a veteran. I doubt he plays.

  • Bart

I’m pretty sure Ewing Jr is out for Summer League

  • barnaby8787

Yeah, I forgot that he has a knee prob…either way, them four would be legit…

  • Its The Kid

Eddy isnt going to play… I’m sure the fact that he moved well and lost weight is good enough for the Knicks right now… They will monitor his progress closer when they get back from Vegas…

  • CircleLimit4

You know, CJ Watson reminds me a little of Chris Childs haha.

  • Jack D

totally agree…dump JJ and eddy in his old form would be beautiful. Even if we would trade Curry (this is assuming he plays really well), we won’t be just throwing him away. Maybe we could get a draft pick as well i dunno…

  • Mal

We’ll have to see Big ED come training camp and preseason unless we can unload his contract to Houston b4 then

Big Ed and JCraw were a good combo, we swept the Lakers with Bynum b4 Gasol. We kinda owned Miami wit Shaq and DWade. People forget it was Zeke and ZBo which destroyed chemistry

  • bob go knicks

    junior is out !

  • BiggieSmalls

    lttle water on the fire..

Howard Beck at NYT is saying the DW said EC lost about 30 lbs..Says Curry looks around 330 and needs to lose 30 more.

    oh well.

  • BiggieSmalls

BUT he says Curry is moving much better and the knee doesnt seem to be a problem.

  • Bart

Jennings is Shooting like Crazy in the game against the Cavs.

  • barnaby8787

Jennings is a talented kid, but the he’s bound to turn out like the next steph marbury because he runs his mouth too much; otherwise, he may have been ny bound…

  • KBT1615

YEAH Like people just straight ignored that whole season we were actually headed somewhere with that too bad Zeke got Zach and we got all messed up…

  • Bart

Jennings 23 points 2 rebounds 8 asists6 steals uh oh somebody dropped the BALLLLLLL.

  • Bart

    Shhhhhhhh 23 pts shhhhhh 8ast shhhhhhh 6steals

  • CircleLimit4

Umm it’s a summer league game.

  • coocoo4knicks

barnaby – why so worried that people think you’re a “homo”.
Don’t you have any Gay friends?
Dude – It’s 2009 and most sane people recognize that Gay people are human beings and not any more appropriate a target for ridicule than black folks were back in the day. Grow the fuck up so we can focus on your NBA insights and not your fear of the other..

  • barnaby8787

Uh, actually he had 10 pts, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals…plus he was 4-15 from the field, but ok….http://www.nba.com/summerleague2009/games/boxscore.jsp?gameId=1520900004

  • barnaby8787

My bad, looking at the wrong day, but either way, still a summer league game and he still only shot 11-26 from the field…

  • KBT1615

how we dropped the ball and we haven’t even seen J Hill play yet and he played the CAVS SUMMER LEAGUE TEAM, How bad can that team be?

  • mk218377

back to the post, chris childs was very underrated. he was scrappy and i remember on a few occassions he showed he wasnt gonna take any crap from anybody (KOBE) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRojWWlsbxk

speaking of 90′s knicks, one of my all time favorite players would be perfect for the D’Antoni knicks: hubert davis. if he started at the 2 for this team he would break 3pt records

First off, I really enjoy this site and I check it non-stop for updates( um like, I refresh the page every few minutes hoping to see some good news)…

That being said, Tommy D, excellent site and congrats with the wedding.

So, on to business…I have finally registered, this is my first response to this site, and I couldn’t be more flustered…I just finished reading a report that read “The Knicks Aren’t Relevant”. There is a smiling pic of Jason Kidd and information from a brilliant “agent”. Well, Tommy and everyone else… here’s what it said:

“Right now, the Knicks are not relevant, “a prominent player agent said…”Only the media in New York keeps them relevant…”

    I’m outraged.

Hill and especially Kidd have blessed us by “spurning” us. I’m disgusted by seeing our beloved franchise besmirched by the laughing face of J. Kidd in a report on the state of the Knicks.

I am a teacher in Syracuse, I love my New York Knicks…and maybe I’m naive, but I feel disgusted by the arrogance of somebody like Kidd. I realize that it’s only a sport, but athletes should show a little more dignity. After all, the the youth look up to you and we all know that…Well, I won’t waste my breath because we are the smartest fans in the world.

Otherwise, D Walsh makes me feel confident…I support D’Anton…and as for Dolan? Enjoy life, play the blues and beer’s on me if you wanna hear my 2 cents on the squad that I’ve followed since I seen Bill Courtwright’s awkward a$$ free throw stylee.

Anyway, that’s all…I’m venting, but I have a lot of faith in our young squad.! I will have more to say soon, but…

May the heart of John “Magic Juan” Starks, and the marvelous cooking artistry of Charles Oakley infect our team like a ferocious virus like eternity, meng!

    PS-Go Syracuse ORANGEMEN!

  • dino of syracuse

LBJ…if ya stay in Cleveland…we’re signin the kid that dunked on you! :p

  • KBT1615

lol, GOOD ONE, I like you already..Also that Agent is only saying that because we don’t have a star.

  • bob go knicks

TILL NEXT FRIDAY when ricky rubio will be ours

  • dino of syracuse

Bob Go Knicks– Rubio of course would be nice and I applaud keeping the youth movement going…point is the the only position where an older player (like me a 33 year old stallion like myself) can facilitate. Kidd though?…Tommy…am I correct in saying that his pic should be dartboard material in the locker room? I know that it’s agent hype, but still…I can’t help but get steamed every time that i see that quote. I’m as hardcore as you and the many hard working, devoted fans on this site and Kidd spat in our face as I see it… Never diss the GLORIOUS ‘CHISE!

PS–Here’s to P. Ewing making a lot but spending a lot, and um, Latrell Sprewell not making a lot but spending way a lot…

PSS–Oak, whatcha say about hooking me up with your cooking show sidekick hottie? :)

  • barnaby8787

    Coocoo, it’s a saying….stfu…

  • bmathews77

Hopefully Curry impresses and the Houston Rockets hear about it so that we can dump Curry’s contract on them.

  • IDunnoMyName

Those pictures of him from 2006 on Newsday made me remember how good he was during that stretch. However, it also is a reminder of just how fragile Eddy’s psyche is. It is no coincidence that his best season came after Isiah labeled him the franchise. He was wanted. He no longer was dealing with the negativity of Scott “tell him to jump” Skiles or Larry Brown. Instead he felt encouraged and wanted and that, more than likely, is why he excelled.

That being said, DW has been calculatingly positive, but D’Antoni is obviously not a fan or a believer. I wonder how long Eddy stays committed if his coach is not in his corner.

  • bmathews77

I think that year Eddy Curry under Isiah Thomas as the head coach was a fluke. Not sure if anyone remembers but every play went through Curry so of course he was going to average the 19ppg he had that year. And Isiah did not want to look bad by giving up all those draft picks for Eddy so he made sure that Curry was the focal point.
Eddy Curry can score in the low post no doubt but he has no desire or heart on the court. That’s obvious because he cant rebound or block a shot.
I don’t think he’s in the Knicks future plans and D’Antoni knows this as well. He can see right through players.

  • HaS

Hahn says he was at 340 the end of the season Berman says 345, so losing 30 would put him at 310ish, no? Whatever he could lose 20 before the season easy and most players lose during if they get playing time by the all-star break he might be at 280ish if he keeps it up.

Maybe the death of a child and legal problems have matured him. If they did he’s only TWENTY-SIX maybe they shouldn’t give up on him!

Dirk was a poor rebounder at the beginning of his career and he’s picked up miraculously. Even Yao left something to be desired in the boarding dept. and he’s one of the leaders now (Well he was. Get well soon Yao!).

  • Mucha

I’ll root for Eddy and I wish him the best, but he’ll have to hold himself accountable for his short-comings. Mike D’Antoni, on the other hand, will have to turn into a believer – and not just to raise his trade value, I agree with Marc Berman (to a certain extent).

He’s still the most talented player – along with Danilo Gallinari – the Knicks have, I would not trade him away as soon as he gets some trade value. Jared Jeffries has to go first in my opinion.

  • CircleLimit4

Eddy Curry is not zBo, though. He’s not going to produce at a level that makes his contract look reasonable. I would personally take the first offer that relieves us of cap space in 2010.

  • bmathews77

I have to agree. Eddy Curry is no automatic 20 and 10 or even 20 and anything for that matter. Fact is Eddy Curry has no desire to play basketball. A 5’9″ Nate Robinson averages more rebounds than a 6’11″ Eddy Curry. We should take what we can get for Eddy Curry if he gains any value in this weight loss/new attitude.

  • Mal

I stop liking J Kidd when he was a Net and they played us and he made a smart a$$ comment during press time well it was only the Knicks. I have not forgiven him for thta comment and thats why I really didnt want an old J Kidd, maybe 6 years ago Kidd but after his comment, Im not a fan

Afflalo to the Nuggest for nothing. I like Afflalo, he can hit a jump shot (or he used to, in College anyway) and he plays Ben Howland Defense. Good add for the Nuggets.
