Portland Makes Offer to Miller

by Chris Alvino on July 24th, 2009 at 3:08 pm

UPDATE…

The Oregonian is reporting that this deal will go down.  This is a deal that tops whatever the Knicks would have offered.  Oh well.  Down to Ramon Sessions and the band-aids.

Chad Ford is reporting that the Blazers have made a 3 year offer to Miller worth $21 million dollars. The first two years are guaranteed and the third year is at a team option.

Hard to see Miller to Portland not happening. The first domino is about to fall in the PG hunt.

How long until DLee has to make a decision?

IMO a very fair deal in this market. 7M guaranteed for each of 2 years and team option. If Lee comes down to earth this type of deal would be right for him? After all we are in a global recession.

  • BiggieSmalls

good.. Didnt want Miller here anyway.. now o get Sessions for less than the MLE.

  • gilcher82

if Gallo can average 15 per in the first week of the season ill order my jersey

  • paulempson

    Next up……

    D Lee for 7-8

    Sessions for 4

  • Bruno

I could see a 3ry deal for $4/$4/$6m for Sessions

  • jaknicksfan

hi, i just read on buckets over broadway that the knicks have signed sessions to a 5 year offer sheet. is this true?

  • jaknicksfan

    how about d-lee 5 years 40 million?

  • BiggieSmalls

Paul Millsap actually GOT a 4 year 32 million dollar offer sheet.

Why would D Lee get more than that when no one will even come to the table with an offer?

  • BiggieSmalls

the third year is too much. 8% raises is the max allowable. But would Milwaukee watch that?

Id put a fourth year at a player option out there with a higher first year, low second year and a high thrid/fourth year. But starting at around 4 per.

  • italian stallion

That rumor was from yesterday. So I guess it wasn’t true.

  • jaknicksfan

I Wish it was true, what are we waiting for?

  • jaknicksfan

BiggieSmalls You are right its just frustrating that nothing is happening

  • BiggieSmalls

its kind of a stare off with 2010 on the line.

    whoever blinks first loses.

we have to be patient here.

it is frustrating but where are all these S&T offers that were out there?

I ready Minny lost 19 mil last year and their shareholders are fretting more losses. Could they be interested in a cuttino mobley insured contract salary dump to save 8 mil or so?

  • jaknicksfan

thats wild that they lost that much. maybe cuttino contract would be perfect for them to save some cash and get us rubio or flynn?

  • Mucha

Great article (Frank Isola) : http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/knicks/

  • knicksbro

Get a future first rounder in a Lee S&T. Package 2 first rounders and Harrington/Chandler for Rubio.

  • knicksbro

Or include a player from a Lee S&T (Fernandez?)

  • Cheech

Yeah, i read the Isola article. Im a little disapointed in Dave. I love him and want him back more than anyone. But i hope in retrospect that he realizes he should not have said anything. It does sound a little spoiled. I thought he was willing to take a pay cut to stay here? And i think his agent is a bad influence (as most agents probably are).

Regardless, im praying we sign him to 7-8 mill and get Sessions. I really think that would give us a decent core (obviously, the development of Wilson, Danilo, Sessions, Lee, Hill, and Douglas would be the most important thing this season. And maybe to a little lesser extent Darko too.)

  • Cheech

O, and can we not play Larry chuck o’ lot Hughes…please. he is a detriment to the growth of the young players bc he does not pass.

  • dino2008

DLee doesn’t sound spoiled. He is trying to sell himself, just like anyone going out on an interview for a job they really want. Yeah you seem cocky, but in reality that is what you have to be if you want to get the job… let the interviewer know you are more qualified than the other people. Keep DLee in the Big Apple and playing in MSG and give him what he deserves.

  • Chris Alvino

The bottom line with Lee is that while we scrutinize every move that is made by each side, the fact remains that the season does not start until October. It is still July. When it comes down to it, there is no real rush here.

  • J-Knick

Maybe a Lee S&T to Portland with Bayless coming to NY !

I’d rather bet on Bayless on his rookie contract than Sessions with the MLE

  • J-Knick

I think he listened too much to people that said he was a borderline all-star and that it was unfair he wasn’t invited to Vegas .. which is obviously not true.
