Sources: Knicks will offer Sessions after August 1st
By Tommy Dee - Jul 29, 2009 5:12 pm

As restricted free agents’ situations appear closer to resolutions, sources say that Donnie Walsh is ready to offer Milwaukee point guard Ramon Sessions the first Knicks restricted contract of the summer. The deal would be a modest one, but it would cut into the precious 2010 fund, something Walsh been reluctant to do. But the delay appears to be over the status of Bruce Bowen with the Bucks.

Despite reports that the team is moving on from pursuing the Bucks point guard, word out of Milwaukee on Tuesday night is that the Knicks are still very much in play. That would be the reason why the reported signing of Nate Robinson is now in limbo.

“Sessions is more of a priority than Nate because he fits the system so perfectly,” one source said. “But it would seem the Bowen situation seems to be holding everything up.” more.

Yess. Let’s GOOO

Sessions
Joe Johnson/D Wade
Chandler
Gallo
Hill

I need this. Playoff series before my childhood is over. AND they just signed Jennings so its unlikely they’d sign him

Thats ok I guess…

Sessions
D Wade/ Joe Johnson
Chandler
Hill
Amare

is a little better though. I have a grimey but possibly a effective way of getting Aldridge and putting him at the 5. Offer B Roy a max and if the Blazers match go after Aldridge, they don’t HEY we got B Roy…lol

Sessions
Dwade
Chandler
Hill
Amare

that’s winning 60 games in the east KBT.

Easily. I have to admit I don’t like these final lineups that have J Hill and Bosh at center thats why I am constantly putting Amare in our 2010 plans. He isn’t that much taller than Hill and Bosh but he plays soo much bigger.

The linup of Sessions/Joe Johnson/Chandler/Gallo/Hill is not going to win you anything. That linup won’t even touch the eastern conference finals.

i strongly disagree. there’s something called a bench as well.

That linup doesn’t beat lebron, it doesn’t beat the celtics, and it doesn’t beat the magic. I realize in 2 years those teams will be different but just for comparative purposes. Yea we could add a good bench, but it is not going to best those three teams… star players will, which those 5 players are not.

How does Bowen’s situation positively impact the Knicks offer?

It sounds like releasing Bowen Aug 1 frees up money to match a deal for
Sessions.

DW should have put tyhe offer out 7 or more days PRIOR to Aug 1 so as to force the Bucks hand with Bowen.

So the Bucks end up giving up Richard Jefferson for Thomas and Bowen and release Bowen? Boy what a disaster. You’d think packaging Bowen and Thomas with Sessions to get a young player like Lee would be to their advantage.

If the Knicks pulled that off BEFORE Aug 1 then WE could have released Bowen and saved the 2 mil. As it is we tie up 7 days of salary cap and the Bucks release Bowen to have enough under the lux limit to sign Sessions.

Im flabbergasted.,

According to Tommy Dee’s report, releasing Bowen free up money but instead of holding on to Sessions, Milwaukee is planning on signing Hakim Warrick. If you believe that Milwaukee wants to go with Jennings and Ridnour, I guess it makes sense that they won’t match an offer for Session. It is a lot of “ifs”

Biggie,

I hear ya, but do you also get the feelng that the D’antoni camp is pushing for Sessions more so than Donnie is.
I have faith in Donnie, but does this have an LB/IT vibe?

Definitely coming from the D’Antoni brothers

Since DW was going to dip into the 2010 piggy bank for Kidd why not Sessions?

I keep thinking that Donnie has delayed an offer to Sessions (assuming he would consider making an offer) to wait and find out what his situation with David Lee is. You would like to think that Bartlestein and Lee are going to have to come to the table at some point soon and get this resolved one way or another. I could easily see the outcome with Lee impacting what Donnie wants to do with Sessions.

Biggie, I’d love to see Kurt Thomas on the Knicks for a year or two. He is exactly what they haven’t had for quite some time. a solid defending big who does the dirty work defensively and offensively, plays intelligently (generally) and has a nice mid-range game for DA’s offense.

would LOVE KT to be a part of the process.

Well so what, worst case scenario they match Sessions and we have more money for 2010 its a Win-can’t Lose situation don’t sweat. If we miss on Sessions Walsh will bring in Tinsley and we have TD we will be solid at PG at the very least.

Im just having trouble understanding how the Bucks can let Charlie V walk and trade RJ for nothing THEN let Sessions walk for the mid level.. When they originally said they would let V and RJ walk to pay Sessions.

THEN Sign Hakim Warrick? After he was released?

And WHY does DW wait til Aug 1 to see what happens with Bowen when Milly releasing Bowen does nothing but HELP them match Sessions.

I can see the Bucks wanting to do a S&T with Sessions to get some value back as they let two major rotation players walk for essentially a 38 year old Kurt Thomas.

Bethlehem Shoals is reporting that Warrick is an underrated player that Milwaukee wants to sign and will pass on Sessions. I thought Warrick was a flop but Milwaukee does not agree. Jennings is their PG not Sessions.

Yeah.. Warrick is So underrated that he didnt even get a Qualifying Offer from the Memphis Grizzlies.

So the Bucks let Charlie V, and Sessions and RJ walk for Kurt Thomas and Hakim Warrick?

No wonder they suck./

Well since The Bucks are in sell mode. anyone think we can take Michael Redd off their hands.

Comment by Myles A. Mills

possibly, but he’s always banged up and not a star. It would take Chandler most likely and he’s not worth it considering he’s a free agent in 2010.
