No Offer Yet, Knicks exclusive with White Chocolate

by Tommy Dee on July 31st, 2009 at 4:21 pm

Update: The Bucks have released Bruce Bowen according to insidehoops.com…

Update: A source close to the situation tells me that Warrick chose the Bucks over the Cavs, who offered the former Syracuse star a $2 million dollar contract. Not sure how much the deal with Milwaukee is as of yet, but you’d have to assume it is more and the trade with Malik Allen shouldn’t affect the offer sheet for Sessions, which as we told you, wasn’t coming today.

Ken Berger is reportingthat the Knicks may want to negotiate with Jason Williams BEFORE offering Sessions, in a deal that makes no sense to me whatsoever.

“…Before getting involved with Sessions, the Knicks are focusing on Jason Williams and have been granted an exclusive, five-day window to negotiate a deal with the unretired point guard, Yahoo! Sports reported. Williams, 33, must navigate a minefield of beaurocracy after filing retirement papers last September, only a month after signing a one-year deal with the Clippers. L.A. relinquished its exclusive rights to negotiate with Williams last week. Any team wanting to acquire those rights would have to claim Williams off waivers first…

A play that Walsh thinks the Bucks will match??

Stay tuned…

Sun Yue is available. Just putting it out there…

“Lakers release Sun Yue. He is affectionately referred to as the “Chinese Magic Johnson” in reference to his height and playmaking at the point guard position.”

  • DKA

Warrick’s agent told Yahoo he signed for $3mm. And just say no to White Chocolate.

Can you guys please add up the salary for 2010-2011 and tell me how much money NY will based on who is on our roster now

Dont say Curry will be dealt. Same goes for Jeffries…

These moves by NY are all about improving the 2 spot while maintaining cap flexability to stay to the plan.

All you guys want them to sign Lee, Sessions when you dont really look at the $ situation next summer.

Add it up.. it aint pretty.

White Chocolate / Duhon is an upgrade

Tinsley / Duhon is an upgrade

    AI/Duhon is am upgrade

Also, having AI in a year where HE HAS TO CONVINCE PEOPLE HE STILL HAS GAME , LIKE ISOLA SAID, IS AN ASETT

    Do the math folks

  • paulempson

    meant 1 spot !~!!

  • NYknicks

There is a reason A.I. is nicknamed tha answer. This guy can take us to the playoffs without endagering our 2010 plan. If we sign “white chocolate” over A.I. or Sessions it will be the worst move of the summer by any team.

  • riossault450

I actually think it is a great pickup. Veteran leadership, solid point guard, great in the open court. I think it is an upgrade over Duhon in many ways.

  • NYknicks

If somebody has espn insider can they post the rumor central thing about iverson possibly practicing for the knicks?

  • Jeff Cykiert

    Hoopshype.com click on salaries.

If we keep Curry and Jeffries and sign sessions for about 5 a year, it looks like we might be able to sign 1 player for somewhere between 10 and 15 mil.

    from insider:

ESPN.com’s Marc Stein reports there were strong indications Thursday night that the New York Knicks were assembling the final details of an offer sheet they believe will ultimately land Milwaukee Bucks restricted free agent Ramon Sessions.

Friday morning, the agent for Bucks guard Ramon Sessions told 1050 ESPN New York’s Andrew Marchand that he expects an offer from the Knicks today. “If it is going to be an offer that will work, I don’t know,” Chubby Wells, Sessions’ agent, said. However, a source with knowledge of the Knicks’ thinking told Marchand that while they are still interested in Sessions, they do not expect to make an offer today.

The New York Daily News suggests Allen Iverson could be a cheaper alternative at point guard because he is willing to accept a one-year contract.

According to the newspaper, Knicks president Donnie Walsh and Iverson’s agent, Leon Rose, met two weeks ago to discuss the possibility of Iverson joining the Knicks.

    Thanks

  • Bart

Ramon Sessions Ramon Sessions Ramon Sessions I’m so tired of hearing this sign A.I. to a 1yr deal and don’t mess with the Cap. MLE signing don’t work for the Knicks there is no need to take the risk sign A.I.

  • Mal

Lets send a cheap offer to Chinese 6’9 point guard Sun Yue, since the Lakers are not picking up his option.

Jay Will’s days were over after he left Sactown, now he is conflicted and dont know if his heart is really in playing again.

Dont know about AI either, I guess Sessions is our best hope?

  • parkerstrong

Give Sessions full MLE for the first year and the Knicks get him. The Bucks would pay almost twice the salary because they are so close to the tax and lose the money they would get from the league for not being over the tax (about 2-3 million). I doubt the Bucks feel Sessions is worth 10-12 million.

  • Myles A. Mills

sun yue isn’t a point guard, he’s a shooting guard. I have no problem with White Choc if we also get Sessions.

  • KBT1615

    Nooo Id rather have A.I.

    Sessions>A.i.>Tinsley>White Choc

  • J-Knick

For once I happen to like Isola’s analysis of the situation.

He actually said that Sessions is a bit of risk and deteriorates the 2010 cap situation, which is objectively true even if this annoys some of you guys.

he doesnt seem overenthousiastic about adding him.

I share that getting AI at the MLE for one year is the best compromise at the PG spot. It’ s the safer bet to get a playoff spot and also the one leaving the most options open.

It was very funny Tommy that your conclusion didnt match at all Isola’s arguments … while he nodded to it !

  • J-Knick

MLE for one year is rather different than the infamous 5y deals given to JJ1 and JJ2 if that’s what you refer to.

  • KBT1615

Something I have been thinking about is if we get a star like Joe Johnson, D Wade, B Roy, or Lebron they will most likely bring the ball up the court and we run the offense through them so why are we looking for a Floor General PG?
We should be looking for a shooting PG like a Mo Williams.
