Knicks Classics Game 4

Is on right now on MSG. Remember the series vividly including referee Jake O’Donnell’s  pathetic,series-changing,   illegal screen call against Patrick Ewing in Game 3. I mean, how many superstars do you remember have a ticky tack call made against them at home in the last few minutes?

Anyway, pay particular attention. The Knicks guards got over EVERY Houston screen, something that I’ve screamed about from this team for some time.

I mean, people can say all they want that the game has changed since then, but by getting over a screen the offensive player with the ball can’t comfortably identify the trailing defender and it keeps the hedging big in a better position.

Coach D’Antoni, towards the end of the year, switched on everything, which I’m not a fan of.

Just saying.

    Switching on everything is a sign of weakness. This the hardest part of the game and it is a good tool for measuring hustle.

    Nate just fades away every time a screen is set and Lee ends up guarding the PG.

    ahhh. the good ol’ days… anthony mason bringing up the ball… fighting over screens…. derek harper hand checking…. oakley swinging elbows…. i miss those days

    Yeah, those were some good times for the Knicks franchise. Every NBA team was scared to play the Knicks back then. Unfortunate that our beloved Knicks turned into one of the elite teams to one of the laughing stocks of the NBA all because of some terrible moves by Scott Layden and mostly by Isiah Thomas. I really hope we can all see the Knicks get back to the top.

    Ah Yea, the days of being a major power in the NBA…GOOD TIMES, GOOD TIMES!! The fall started with the trade of Ewing even Shaq who always seems to have nothing good to say about BIG Pat said not in these words, it was not a good thing getting rid of a legend.

    Then Scott Layden bringing in all his Utah crownies paying them duds superstar money and then Zeke who we thought would clean up Layden’s mess did just as bad if not worse.

    Thats why I have a hard time Im sure not only me watching us be laughing stocks in the league. Those Knick teams believed in defense and hard fouls, some old heads also said it was because of those Knick teams that the NBA made all the changes that has made the NBA soft happened. I would have thought it was the “Bad Boys”, I heard Zeke say that once on the Dan Patrick Show because of the “Jordan Rules”

    Anyway If Mike D can get these guys to play one iota of D as those Knicks coupled with the way they can score it could be special.

    @ Jeff C, I too hate the switching on every screen causing mismatches everywhere and the matador D to the basket hurts also
