Recap/ Open Practice Highlights

by Tommy Dee on October 18th, 2009 at 3:53 pm

Knicks 106
Maccabi (and their psycho coach who I don’t think is so great anymore) 91

BOX SCORE

Recap on the way….but all you need to know is that the team continued it’s defensive presence, and still has not hit its stride offensively.

Also, had the chance to catch the open practice at Fordham yesterday and want to give  a shout out to Gym Rat Juan Herrera. Check out the video from practice here.

to bad they don’t have any euro teams in the nba cuz the knicks would be a 500 team.lmao.

I hate the Knicks sooooo much Jennings is looking great in Milwaukee mean while Hill is doing nothing and Gallinari is only shooting 3s when someone passes him the ball. TD is ok but hes not really in the convo as the 29 pick we should trade Hill before teams realize hes a bust, but as it is I don’t see Milwaukee trading Jennings to us we could have just drafted him.

The more I see the more I think this is the same team as last year + a backup PG that doesn’t have an NBA shot yet and a #8 pick that’s a garbage time player. I don’t know how many wins that adds, but given that most of the other teams improved more than that, it can’t be a positive number.

I didn’t think Milicic would add much because whoever he fills in for is a better player than him (Lee at C or move Lee to PF and take out Harrington on etc…). But I think he’s shown enough to think that in some games he could be a net positive.

Chandler looks the same to me. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting too much improvement because he’s been on crutches all summer, but I was hoping for a little better shot selection and improvement in other mental parts of the game. I just don’t see it. I see a guy who’s going to be overly anxious to shoot the 3 pointer even though he’s not good at it. He’s going to wind up being an inefficient scorer instead of using his athleticism to go to the hoop, draw fouls etc.. and be a positive contributor on both ends.

Gallo has been especially disappointing. Let’s be honest, the only thing he brought to the table last year was his great shot. He didn’t fill out the stat sheet at all (boards, blocks, steals, assists). We were all hoping that after surgery he was going to be quicker, more aggressive etc.. and fill out the other skills better. Instead, he looks slow, unable to do the things we hoped, and he’s not even shooting well.

It’s look like a perfect storm of disappointment so far.

N8 had a great game and David’s jumper is improving ,Jeffries looks tradable, with those positives I can’t believe how negative you guys are,do you really think the Knicks will not find their shot?I think you guys are looking at all the negatives without looking at the positives,ok we can’t compete with Philly and Boston yet but our Defense focus by our team and coach is a very positive signs you guys should start to get more positive,Jeffries improvement make his contract tradeable so we can sign two max players,if you can’t see the light your blind. The future so bright I have to wear shades.N8 is looking like a real star player if he ever can hone all that energy he will be explosive.Sure Hill looks awkward but I also see a guy with leggs that can sky and he has a nice shot I think he can be counted to get better with time and you see the more he plays the more active he gets.Gallo is a player he coming back from back surgery for Christ sakes ,nobdy here cuts no slack for coming back from injuries but it takes a little longer, give Ill Will And Gallo time and they will shine,I like our nucleus of players pre Lebron and ? after Jeffries trade.
