Can Boston afford to give Rondo All Star Money?
If all else fails we can get Rondo and Joe or Amare.

And take minutes from Toney Douglas?!!! That’s blasphemy on this site! Ghostface is the point guard of the future! He’s as good as Gilbert Arenas, or so I’ve read in a recent thread.

You always need a backup plan just can’t throw all our hopes on Toney what if he gets hurt?
Just good to check everything. Its Ok HaS.

I was being sarcastic, but the fact that you took that statement as serious speaks volumes. Wow.

I said it before in another thread that I see Toney Douglas as a very fast Charlie Ward.

            Totally unrelated:

The new Knicks commercial shows _avi_ Lee when they show the caption “HUSTLE PLAYS HERE!” Disgusting.

That’s (Charlie Ward comment) not an insult btw, I like Toney and I love his defense, as I loved Charlie for his hustle. I just don’t see him becoming a star in this league.

            O you were being sarcastic!?!
I really thought for a second that you though Toney was better than Gilbert Arenas.
Wow you got me good HaS.

You’re right HaS. I am so sick of watching David Lee drag himself up and down the court for the last 4 years. I mean he plays like he doesn’t even care. I think he just got lucky with all those rebounds last year…they just fell into his hands. He is nothing but a lazy no good waste of a player. He shouldn’t even be playing on an NBA team. How’s that for some sarcasm for you.

David Lee played last year as and extremely undersized center. He also had a coach that did not stress him to play tough defense on his oversized opponent. I don’t think Dantoni wanted the risk Lee fouling out.

Please name another 6’9″ center in the history of the nba that could stop a guy like Dwight Howard. Or even any defensively dominant 6’9″ NBA center for that matter.

Sorry, but I truly believe that David Lee gives 100% every game. Oh, and btw grabbing rebounds is a very important part of the game. I’ve played a lot of basketball and most of my rebounds took a lot of effort and hustle…and that’s playing as an amateur

Yes, I am officially sticking up for David Lee here since no one else ever seems to….He’s probably our best player..if not our best, he’s definitely in our top 3 come on man

Defense takes hustle too. How about taking a charge? How about challenging players driving the lane? How about a hard foul and not giving up a bunch of “and 1′s”? He’s a very good rebounder, but he hasn’t learned to box out his man so that others can get the rebounds he doesn’t. I can’t remember the last time I saw him dive on the floor or end up in the 3rd row going after the rock either.

Those things take hustle. _avi_ is not a hustle player. Charles Oakley was a hustle player. (He also was an inch shorter than Lee, less athletic and used to guard Centers often to keep Patrick out of foul trouble.)

I’m hard on Lee because I believe he can play better, much better on the defensive end.

Trust me there are more than enough people taking up for Lee here. Yes he is one of the top 3 players on the team, but the Knicks are a below .500 team, so what does that say?

I see a lot more trashing David Lee on this site than people praising him. His obviously has holes in his game. That’s exactly why Paul Mislap got an offer this summer and Lee did not. But the thing that I am arguing with you is that getting rebounds takes hustle and scoring those junk baskets around the hoop also takes hustle. So when you go 15 and 11 last year playing center when you are built like a PF takes hustle. I also believe Lee was also doing exactly what Dantoni asked of him. I don’t think Dantoni wanted him getting in foul trouble last year. Who was his replacement? Jefferies? Wilcox? Those guys were a big downgrade.

            What’s his excuse this year?

There are 100 forwards backing him up now yet in preseason I saw a lot more of the same. He got lit up by Brook Lopez, he’s a Center you say? Ok then, how about getting lit up by Yi? Or how about the drives down the lane by opposing guards, those aren’t Centers are they?

Listen, I love his rebounding ability, but I want tough guys at the frontcourt positions, not guys that play Matador defense and take absolutely no pride in stopping their man let alone protecting the paint.

well i guess the only excuse in that it was preseason and I don’t want our players taking charges in the preseason. The worst thing that can happen in any preseason game in any sport is that one of your better players gets injured.

Point is that I am glad Lee is back, even with is defensive liability and I do think he hustles. He is just not a good defender. I never said he was, but he has a lot of other attributes that can help this team. Besides, what is our alternative?

“well i guess the only excuse in that it was preseason and I don’t want our players taking charges in the preseason.”

Wow. If there ever was an excuse made for someone that was it. Kobe Bryant takes charges in the preseason, he dives on the floor in preseason and he sacrifices his body whenever he steps foot on the floor.

As a player you should go all out every time you are on the floor, at BOTH ends. It is up to the coach to limit a players time to try and save them for the season. No one averaged more than probably 25 mins all preseason, I’m sure “Stay Puft Marshmallow” _ave would have been ok taking ONE charge.

You don’t learn how to take charges by trying to avoid hitting the hardwood.

I’m not so glad to see Lee back, mostly because I think he’s more concerned with getting paid than improving his defense.

Defense and Hustle go hand in hand, it is all about effort, some of the least athletic players have been the most stout defenders. Lee doesn’t have that excuse though, he is athletic (quick jumper, runs the floor well).

Name me ONE player in the history of the NBA that was labeled a “hustle player” and at the same time was known as a horrible defender.

            Amar’e Stoudemire

more of a star than a role player like david lee should be

but he hustles and runs the floor all game. i never think of him as lazy or someone that doesn’t hustle

but he is a horrible defender

we just disagree on the definition of a hustle player

ugh, can we start the season already. look what we’re talking about here…i cant wait until we can talk about games that actually count

“Stern to Lebron Stay in Cleveland”

This article sucks, Stern most be back talking, but why publicly say something like this when you have been staying mum on the subject the whole time.

There will be a backlash if LeBron leaves Cleveland. I’ve said it before. It looks bad for a player of his caliber to leave his hometown (winning) team for greener (money) pastures.

I just don’t see it being in his best interest right now. Nor woud it seem worth it for him. Nike could try to influence him to come to NY, but do you really think they’re going to play hardball with one of their number one breadwinners?! Could you imagine if Adidas swooped in (doubt it, but does Nike take that chance? They have 0 leverage.)?

I don’t really think rondo would be so great for us. he happens to be a very strong PG with a nice handle, but he got put on the floor surrounded by 4 hall of famers in their prime, all he had to do was penetrate and find open guys. I’m not saying he isn’t really good but i don’t think his success would be as noticable had he been drafted somewhere else, or if he were our PG, where his terrible jumpshot would be exposed on a nightly basis.

Think about rondo in this sytem… would he really do so well? He’s a great defender and rebounder by why do you think he can orchestrate a high octane offense, especially given he has no great offensive tool in his game.

I also don’t really like Joe Johnson, unless you’re talking 10 million give or take a couple mil. I think he is the most over-rated good player coming into the market this summer.

Nobody thinks toney douglas is amazing or the PG of the future necessarily, we are just saying that he shows some promise and his defense is great, and since we aren’t currently contending we might as well let him play and see if anything good can come out of it. Maybe he is the PG of the future, but we won’t know unless he gets his minutes and this is the perfect situation for him to do that.

man i dont know how you cant like JOE JOHNSON ,he looks like the most complete baller out there 21pts 6 asst 4.5 rebs plus he plays defense and the KNICKS sure could use a 2 guard .he will get clos to max money (if he were a few years younger ,i think he would get max)
