Gallo Gets the Start

by Myles A. Mills on October 31st, 2009 at 6:02 pm

Via Hahn’s Twitter:

“In dress rehearsal for tonights game, it is revealed: Danilo Gallinari will start. #Knicks”

Might be tough for Gallo with Iguodala and Thaddeus Young on the perimeter, but the kid has played great so far this season.  Hopefully, he can keep it up and propel the team to a much needed victory in the home opener.

Wow, I think Young will guard him – it’ll will be a though (but interesting) match-up. Both Young and Gallinari are studs.

By the way, I liked Jrue Holiday. Actually I would have been satisfied with Jrue Holiday and DeJuan Blair – I think it would have been MY combo on draft night.

I’m glad football season (both “soccer” and football already started) cause i have the feeling i won’t find this season attractive.

  • dino of syracuse

Start Dino! He needs to attack the rim with ferocity! Also, I’m proud of Duhon for standing up and being a leader…

  • HaS

“but the kid [Galinari] has played great so far this season.”

Huh? He’s driven to the basket what, twice? I’d say he’s shot well, but played great? Hell no.

Wasn’t it you who said he played some of he worst one on one defense you ever witnessed last night?

  • http://theKnicksBlog.com Tommy Dee

Explain to the readers what you think he needs to do to “play great.”

  • itzyung1

Finally Wilson is taking less 3′s. Lets get Darko in here and we may have something.

  • itzyung1

    and get Jeffries out.

  • Bob

notice that GALLO sinks 2 threes in a row,and now he doesnt touch the ball in 5 minutes.they should be feeding him the ball now

  • EQ1217

I see that too, it’s like the only one who passes to Gallo is Lee.

  • pedro

No defense whatsoever. Frustrating. Gallo is playing great. He can make a good team look like a great team. He’s a big offense threat from deep. Peja circa Sacramento Kings comes to my mind.

  • Mucha

    I like Gallo.

    I like Lee.

    And….

    That’s it.

  • HaS

He needs to drive to the basket, keep the defense off balance by not just launching from outside the arc all night. He has shot well for stretches, but playing “great”? G-R-E-A-T? Not to sound like Tony the Tiger, but c’mon?

How’s that serious layup line working out tonight?

  • Mucha

Maybe I’m wrong but I’d bet 20$ that Duhon secretely hates Gallo.

  • itzyung1

Sad thing is we look worse than last year somehow

  • Mucha

Well you know that Harrington’s one of my favorite players but like Clyde said he forces the action too much. He’s too quick for Brand and Dalembert when he plays inside the arc. The same goes for Chandler, let him develop his midrange game.

  • EQ1217

Wow, even D’antoni is chucking Gallo now. He should be playig 30+ minutes

  • BiggieSmalls

Gallo needs to do more than launch threes everytime he touches the rock

  • BiggieSmalls

Good to see Larry Hughes in the rotation.

Why he was banished to the bench is unfathomable.

  • itzyung1

    Larry is actually playing good.
Foot in mouth for me. This is what happens when we stop throwing three’s up and leave that to Gallinari.

  • Mucha

    He’s actually playing really well.

  • itzyung1

Duhon meant they weren’t focused and them playing in the layup line is an example.

  • HaS

They were focused tonight and got doubled up in the 1st quarter.

  • itzyung1

I have located our issue guys Chris Duhon.
He is lowing the tempo down on offense, throwing up three’s and playing average D.

  • Eduardo15

WTF!!!!!??? why are we still shooting and shooting then shotting some more 3′s??

What an awful strategy, we are blowing away chances of getting back in the game by insisting on this shit.

    Is D’Antoni really that stupid??

  • Bob

i always thought that, but never had the guts to say it,thinking that people would think im nuts!lol

  • itzyung1

Yea we were focused and playing good until Duhon came back in.

  • HaS

Well 1st of all, Duhon is just not that good of a passer to begin with. Maybe if _’antoni ran the PnR with Galinari then he would get more touches.

Secondly, if a player can only receive the pass around the arc it cuts down passing opportunities unless someone is driving and breaking down the defense, not Duhon’s forte.

Thirdly, Galinari needs to cut and more movement without the ball (this goes for most of the team).

  • HaS

So, basically I’m saying I doubt Duhon “hates” him. lol

  • HaS

_’antoni is learning on the job how to coach basketball other than 7SOL.

  • Mucha

I agree Has but still, Nate is “consistently” looking for him when they’re on the floor.

Bob – never thought you would ever be shy enough to remain quiet haha.

  • Mucha

    Gallo’s a stud.

  • Bob

not when hes shooting 50% from the 3

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

gallo is a good 3 pt shooter an will be in the 3pt contest

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

man i been told every1 on this blog about danni boy but i guess they don’t feel what i write or it’s 2 real for them

danni boy has a very low basketball iq

  • Mucha

    The Knicks are schizophrenic

  • Eduardo15

Man, I have to say I like him more and more… and he has to know by now that he can dribble and create opportunities for himself in the paint or go to the line.

That last 3 pointer in the regulation was a thing of beauty.

    GO KNICKS!!!

  • Bob

    lol

  • Bob

its funny, but i think id rather start hughs at the point instead of duhon
