A Special Guest for Friday Night Against Cavs…

by Ben Chayon on November 4th, 2009 at 1:50 pm

In a special twist to Friday nights game Bernie Williams will be performing the Star Spangled Banner.

Via the NY Post:

“ Not that there is ever an occasion in New York at which Bernie Williams is not proudly hailed, but imagine him playing the Star-Spangled Banner at the Garden Friday night with dawn’s early light having revealed the Yankees as World Series champions. Noted Yankees fan LeBron James and the Cavaliers will be in the house to face the Knicks, and so will the four-time World Series winner, five-time All Star and one-time Grammy-nominated jazz-Latin-classical guitarist. Williams is doing some serious picking in his next chosen field, and as a longtime Knicks fan and sometimes Garden patron, he is grinning at the opportunity to perform there on a marquee basketball night.”

Hopefully Bernie will get a chance to talk to Lebron and let him know how special it is to play in New York. If the Yankees clinch it should be an interesting night at the Garden. Friday night really is shaping up to be one hell of a night of basketball. Imagine if the Knicks can knock out a bunch of wins during Nate’s absence… What will everyone say about Nate then? It’s my belief that the Knicks will play with more passion and intensity then we have seen in a long time with Nate out of the lineup. I hope I’m wrong and Nate can be a great piece of the puzzle but his immaturity is a severe hindrance to this team taking the next step. Larry Hughes has shown his professionalism and toughness on the defensive side of the basketball. The Knicks are in need of stability and as of now he is providing it. Now we must hope that the Knicks can trade either Jeffries or Curry for an expiring contract so we can HONESTLY have the most cap space next season. Why is Walsh parading around everyone claiming to have the most cap space in the NBA when this simply isn’t the case?

hopefully the yanks win it and CC is sitting court side so HE can tell Lebron whats up

  • Bob

cuz he already has a deal in place for eddy curry

  • jho

i PRAY that this is the case.
And I want Yankees to win in 7 so the timing is perfect.

  • DanL

Who has more cap space??? There isn’t one team that has more right now.

  • BiggieSmalls

the Nets have more cap space. And Jay Z. just sayin.

  • Ben Kopelman

the nets have more. we’re #2

  • DanL

You guys aren’t factoring in their pick this summer. We don’t have one. That’ll put them beyond us.

  • BiggieSmalls

And you are assuming we renounce both Nate and Lee. If we retain either one we are we are below.

the numbers in ESPN have us second

Depends on how high the Nets pick is. We have multiple second round picks as well. I think both Nate and Lee will be renounced. Maybe Lee resigns as an unrestricted FA after we sign our premire target.

  • ArbeeEye

How did you manage to turn this post about Bernie Williams and Lebron James into a rant against Nate?

  • DanL

I was assuming we renounce Nate, Lee and the rest of our last year guys. I guess we’ll see what happens with that.

I saw those ESPN.com numbers. They don’t factor in the draft pick this coming off season. That’ll put the Nets behind us.

  • BiggieSmalls

Im amazed at that too but the writers on this site take every opportunity to bash Nate.

Most of the commenters on the previous thread agreed that Larry’s PT should come out of Duhon and Nate’s minutes. With Nate being more effective with less minutes.

That draft pick, depending on who they bring in, also could make their roster more attractive than the Knicks’, If it isn’t already with All-Star Devin Harris, future All-Star Brook Lopez, lottery pick Terrance Williams and one of the steals of last year’s draft Courtney Lee.

“It’s my belief that the Knicks will play with more passion and intensity then we have seen in a long time with Nate out of the lineup”

Nate has been bashed for being TOO passionate and not being able to control or harness his intensity and now he’s the reason they play without either?

I even think Tommy has been praising Nate for playing better defense in preseason and called for him and Toney to play together. Since then Toney looks like he should be behind Landry in the lineup and now Nate is the reason the Knicks lost the 1st 3 games.

Yeah, it has nothing to do with Larry Hughes begrudgingly being put into the lineup by _’antoni and more with Nate being hurt I guess.

    No shots.

Too bad we won’t have a dynamic PG with no cap ramifications already on the roster in 2010 to help lure a top FA to the fold next summer … oh, we could have had one??? brose through this link:

    LOL!

I laugh to keep from crying…

Big has mentioned this several times. It might be the team’s only hope, there hasn’t been anything even remotely convincing in the basketball sense to sign with the Knicks that’s for sure.

Not sure if I guy that’s not from NY could grasp/explain (in CC’s case) what a KNICKERBOCKERS’ Parade down 5th Avenue would be like, though.
