I don’t think it was racist, I think _’antoni is just a stubborn coach who held a grudge and wasn’t about to give Marbury the “clean slate” he mentioned in several interviews. He strikes me as the type to “Cut off his nose to spite his face.” Mike is epically stubborn.

“Pretty good” is not good enough for a nutball. He was rejected by D’A. His value was $1M to the Celts and he was insulted, and no other team wanted him for any $.

Lee is 26 Marbury is on the wrong side of 30 and his trade value couldn’t be lower. Why would he say anything to prop up his value when he was headed for unrestricted free agency, that statement made no sense and Curry and _avi_ is a bad analogy.

He definitely looked done, but remember the guy hadn’t played basketball in months! He looked pretty good in training camp and preseason last year. I doubt he’ll be back in the league next year either.

The minimal contract offer was a token. If they really wanted him back they would have made a much bigger offer, like the Knix did with Lee. Did Doc plead with Ainge to raise the offer when SM turned it down?

Doc and all GMs and coaches say positive things about lots of people, usually because they want to prop up the poor guy’s image out of respect or they want the bums to have trade value, like with E Curry who the Knix brass won’t trash because they want some sucker to take him. Ya think DW or D’A are really optimistic EC will help the Knix. I don’t think so.

Read between the lines — SM sucked, iis too slow and is not considered by any team to be of any value. Every time he opens his mouth it cements his image as a nutball, and his performance with the Celts shows he’s got nothing left. Rondo outshone him. SM is delusional thinking he will come back next year….maybe in Italy or Bolivia, but not the NBA.

@Knicks4life and a few other non-biased Knick fans…..I swear, when it comes to D’Antoni vs. Marbury, its way past basketball; its personal and racist….I’ve never seen so much hate from a guy who does so much good outside of basketball…its baffling
