Game Notes : Of course it’s been a long time since the Knicks and Pacers games have had much buzz, and at least for another year, that’s likely to continue. But the Knicks need to prove to their fans that they can beat less-than average teams on the Garden floor. They have to establish home court advantage.

Monday’s game against the Hornets was a step in the right direction. Of course, not getting blown out in the first half helps, but the team came out of the gates well, weathered a storm and made timely shots down the stretch.

Let’s see if that can continue and if the team can win two straight home games.

  • HaS

Surprise, surprise, Larry Hughes back on the bench. _’antoni, bless his heart, you gotta love him.

  • itzyung1

Interesting Lineup. And just Because Hughes is on the bench doesn’t mean he wont get major minutes.

  • Cheech

I think thats a typo. im pretty sure dantoni said he was gonna keep the same lineup…

  • Eduardo15

Hey hey now, don’t go questioning basketball genius coach! How dare you sir?!

I mean, sure Hughes was probably this team’s MVP for the last 2 games, but so what? He was a spark this team so much needed, but to the hell with it! He does bring some defense to the team, but who needs that? You gotta start Jeffries, with his all around skills that just makes everyone else on the court that much better.

His excellence, the coach, is just trying to figure out a way to play Al Harrington at the point, so his dream of a lineup consistent only of forwards (mainly of the small forward variety) can come true.

    Lucky us!

  • jho

I hope Hughes is in the starting lineup…i don’t trust any of those knick starters to be intense on D as consistently as Hughes.

  • Eduardo15

Aw it was a typo… lol

  • Cheech

Lets just come down a little. i know some of u are looking for any reason to hate dantoni, but just calm down a little…

  • itzyung1

Well I kinda wanted to see Gallo at the 2 but remembering Stephen Graham….Nah put him at the 3.

  • itzyung1

I like the websites new banner by the way Tommy.

  • Eduardo15

I’m just kidding around (in this case).

  • Eduardo15

The one thing that bothers me is the “written by Tommy Dee”. I mean, he seems to run things in here, but there are plenty of other writers.

Should be something like “Written by TD and staff”.. :)

  • bartnyk

Hughes started what are you guys talking about.

  • HaS

    Tommy corrected it, you’re late.

Why is _’antoni getting his own show? If it was a player wouldn’t people say he needs to concentrate on getting better? Especially on a losing team, this guy is starting to wear on my patience. I’ll give him one more year, he’s on thin ice though.

  • bartnyk

Because hes the star of the team.

  • HaS

The star of a LOSING team shouldn’t have their own show. Not during the season at least.

  • Cheech

Its probably going to be like a show about the knicks. like every team that has its own station has: the joe girardi show, mets weekly, jets nation. its just one of those…man u guys are vultures. jesus…

“u will give him one more year, hes on thin ice.” wow…well everyone will keep that in mind. i wouldnt know what to think if u didnt say hes on thin ice. im sorry man, but im sick of this man. its like ur opinion is fact or something. all u do is hate on half this team, no shit. we are a bad team! but u act like the coach is on thin ice in ur opinion…no body cares, no one has to prove anything to u, this is a bad team. and ur entitled to ur opinion, but come on man, give it a rest. try to act a little less like ur opinion is fact…

im sorry if this is mean, but im just sick of this. we are not a good team, and fans are frustrating. but u act like we are bad for some other reason than the fact that we dont have a very good team…

  • Mucha

    Depressing.

    Duhon’s defense is atrocious.

    And where’s Gallinari???

  • Cheech

i agree. he is really playing terribly. and why will not take an open jumpshot, but he will take an off-balance runner going up against hibbert???

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

knicks folded in the 4th an missed free throws

i thought they would play like they did on monday

    well 1-4
    cavs up next..

  • jgilch82

U guys can drink all the harrington kool aid u want.. He’s a high scoring black hole on a losing team his whole career

  • Mucha

Duhon is just terrible. I mean he’s just TERRIBLE.

Al Harrington played like a knucklehead and D’Antoni’s coaching was AWFUL.

    Another disgraceful performance.

The Pacers were without Murphy, Dunleavy and Hansbrough! Granger wasn’t even playing well! But of course, the Knicks found a way to get killed by Dahntay Jones, Roy Hibbert and TJ Ford.

    What a waste of time.

  • dino2008

we suck mike get it through your skull. PLEASE PLAY JORDAN HILL… thank you

  • HaS

The roster isn’t ideal, but when the coach is acting as scout and assistant GM then he gets some blame for the draft/not trading some players last year when they could have. My problem with _’antoni is he didn’t think defense was all that important for a whole year! He admitted he didn’t emphasize defense last year, granted he has made an attempt to correct that, but when your roster isn’t the most talented the best and most consistent equalizer is defense not the 3 pointer. Any High School coach knows that.

“im sorry man, but im sick of this man”

No, I’m sorry if you take my disappointment in _’antoni so personally. LOL it’ll be OK homie. 8)

What part of my opinion wasn’t based on or backed up by fact?

  • Eduardo15

This team sucks, there’s no way around it. No sugar coating…

Every time we had a defensive stop, it would be followed by a stupid play such as D Lee shooting from long range.

And the coach has his hands all over this mess. It sickens me…

  • Mucha

    Ask Duhon.

I don’t know, he’s laughing while Al’s at the free throw line with the Knicks trailing by 6.

And he had the nerve to talk about leadership, self-accountability blah blah blah.

    He’s a disgrace.

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

AL passes the ball once every 10-15 touches..

  • EQ1217

Can Donnie please trade for a PG that can actually push the ball in transition or at least be able to play.

Duhon has to be the worst PG in the NBA

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

all danni boy is thinking about is if they will fire him an he get’s millz for free.

danni boy doesn’t believe in the players or willin to give guys time like HILL
u never know how hill could play if u give him some time.

  • Mucha

    1. Duhon apparently didn’t want to play defense and his shot selection was terrible – but it’s all good, apparently it’s OK to laugh with the Knicks trailing by 6 in th 4th quarter. He’s a disgrace, seriously.

    2. Why did Gallinari have to wait 8 minutes or something to play in the 4th quarter?

    3. David Lee, it’s OK to take jumpers from long range in the 3rd quarter, but don’t do it down the stretch. I mean please.

    4. Al Harrington… I like him but he needs to get his head checked. Seriously. Why does he have to force shots when he’s double-teamed? Why does he always have to dribble – knowing that he’ll automatically lose the ball???

  • Eduardo15

You know what? I fcking hate what DW and D’Antoni are doing with the Knicks.

    There, I said it.

No more of this bs of “have patience”…

This team is a disgrace and to hinder all hope on whether LBJ will come to NY is ludicrous. Maybe he will, maybe not. And if he doesn’t… what, then?

Isiah was a mess when it came to coaching, trading… but at least the guy knew how to draft players (Ariza, Lee, Balkman etc). Now we have a lottery pick that does not see playing time and another one who is not close to being reliable to score night in and out.

  • bartnyk

NY is 1 Tracy Mcgrady trade away from being a good team maybe

    Larry Hughes

    Nate Robinson

    Eddy Curry

    for

    Tracy Mcgrady

  • Cheech

i agree with u on ur point about defense and how important it should be. and there is a lot of substance in what ur saying. my point is that even if this team had mark jackson as coach (as u suggested) we would be in a very similar situation. i think that it doesnt make sense to complain about the coach when he has a pretty good track record and he has only been here for one year. im sorry but duhon is a backup, hughes is decent defender but he is a chucker, lee is good player but as u say, he is not a good defender, al is a chucker, nate is out of control, wilson is lost alot of the time, darko is clearly limited, jj has the offensive capabilities of a rock, danilo is limited right now. mu point being this roster is not built to win, no matter who the coach. we have stunk for a long time, and now we have a GM and a coach with good track records and a plan. so i think it makes sense that we at least allow them to complete thier plan before we call for thier heads.

regardless of what u or i think dantoni is the coach and will be until at least the year after next…so im sorry if i was a little harsh. (the world series is also really depressing me, as a big mets fan)

and i did use the word “man” way too much…

  • bockersORbriefs

well, guess we signed up for 1-7 to start the season (1-4 now with Cavs, Bucks, and Jazz coming up) … These next 3 games are soooo ironic … the FA we won’t get on Friday (LBJ), the PG we could have taken on Saturday (BJ3), and the team with our lottery pick on Monday (Utah).

Plus, as an added bonus, that crazy nutty Knick fan may show up at the Cavs game Friday (Star-bury himself) … Hey it’s not all bad New Yorkers … looks like a Canyon of Heroes parade is on tap for Friday !

  • Cheech

i still dont like hughes, regardless of his first 2 games, bc he is still a chucker. al is a chucker and duhon is a backup!

im going to the game friday, a win today would have got me fairly excited, but now, im just hoping we dont get destroyed…
