The most consistent defensive player? Let’s not exaggerate, his defense is still suspect even though he has good instincts.

He generally makes things happen when he goes to the basket (lay-ups, fouls, assists), I think he should do it more often. The same goes for the midrange jumper.

Hate to think what people would be saying here if he had chosen to simply lay it in. The dunk means nothing to me. The anticipation on the steal and the determination on the drive do mean something.

Gallo is still a “colt,” physically. Some folks are going to be feeling a little foolish in a few years (assuming the back is not an issue) when his body matures and hardens, and he is playing in the NBA as a man.

He is progressing nicely as a player. Who would have thought that the stiff Euro who supposedly played soft defense would emerge as perhaps the most consistent defensive players on the team?

He is going to the basket much more this year, and despite being “unathletic, awkward, and stiff,” he seems to have good success reaching it.

It is only a matter of time before the plays now characterized as “flashes” of talent become the norm.

I think that by the end of this season he is going to be playing a lot different, and people are going to be happy that we have him.

Listen I am not as sold as some are on Gallo. Like Has said what has he done that leads you to beleive that he is going to be this incredible superstar that the top nba players are dying to come to the Knicks so that they can play with him. Beside the 3pt shot I have seen little else. Now I have a question for everyone that bothers me. These Knick commercials or their marketing department promote our Knicks like if they were some small market team. This whole declare campaign and the throwing of t shirts and so forth and so on to my knowledge never went down during the 90′s Knicks. Our gimmick was locked down defense, heart, hustle, and a will to want to win and beat MJ, Pacers and the Pistons. The latest one is with Al Harrington about do you love NY as much as he do! Are you kidding me? One game he goes literally insane scoring and emotionally he just lost it and guess what after all that we still lost. So what are everyones feelings about the marketing campaign.

I rather think that he hasn’t been allowed to show much of what you are pointing out. Gallo has obviously been ordered to stand glued to the arcin one place to keep the defense from packing down on the paint/strong side. It is tough to move or to make your own shot with strictures like that. Also tough to rebound effectively from the arc.

At least they’ve changed that ridiculous defensive scheme that they opened the season with. The one with all the switching that had Gallo and the other bigs out on the arc defending guards.It seems that Gallo is only being allowed to show a little bit of his game.

Maybe it is being done because of his conditioning, or lack thereof, much like Chandler because surgical rehab is different than strength and flexibility training. He does need some flexibility work as he does not resemble the Gallo of the Italian tapes. As I wrote last night, you can see why he does much better getting the ball on the move.

Thats just what Toney Looks like a Jason Terry type Point Guard. Is that a bad thing No Jason Terry is a very good NBA player and I would love to have him on my team but The JET doesn’t have amazing Court Vision like Toney and that isn’t learned.
I would want Sessions because he is a Up Tempo PASS FIRST point guard. Yea he may not be a Three Point Kill but he is a Floor General.
If Im over reacting O well but is pretty damn obvious to anyone that we need a Point. I still dont regret the J Hill picking because he makes Lee expandable.

itzyung1…. I have this conversation almost everyday with Knick fans. How do you know what Toney Douglas is?? he’s played all of 9 pro games and a handful of summer league/preseason games. Can the rook have some time to find his way?? Also why would you want Sessions?? See your the kind of over reactionary fan that demands change. Any kind of change and then blame the front office fwhen that change isn’t that much better.

LOL you’re alright bro – I don’t care what you say about the post, I’m just saying I don’t get the big deal about it. I’m the one who called it awkward; he’s certainly not the smoothest up the court day to day, but he is young… I highly doubt I’ll be viewed as a huge Gallo fan around here as the season goes on lol.. Just trying to take it all objectively, though

I dint say he was the next Jerome James.. just that he didnt look very athletic and a bit awkward in the open court.

he looked stiff if that is a softer word.
