Jordan Hill Mix…

by Tommy Dee on November 12th, 2009 at 8:50 pm

Why do I post this? Because he’s got talent. And fans should see that sooner before later. Check out his banger against Cole Aldrich and Kansas (1:15)…The kid will be given the time to shine.

And I think this is an important point. Hill, in college, and all college kids for that matter, know their name will be called and their prep is different. He scored in double figures in all but one game last year.

  • Magik_Trick

    Jared Jeffries Out.
    Jordan Hill In.

  • jaknicksfan

I Couldn’t have said it better myself! The Guy deserves to play and develop!

  • HaS

    Proves nothing.

Everyone looks great in mixes dedicated to them with a hip hop backdrop. Nice track btw. By “Blu” I believe.

Don’t believe me? Check this one out.

He should be playing though. Period. There is no way you can justify a top 8 pick not playing on a terrible team.

  • http://theKnicksBlog.com Tommy Dee

    LOL…stop it. that’s ridiculous.

hill has more upside than Jeffries, no?

  • HaS

Of course, he has more upside than Jeffries, 6 years younger.

But the fact that he can’t average 10 mins. on terrible team speaks volumes.

    Like ya man said:

  • http://theKnicksBlog.com Tommy Dee

    lol…luv that.

he’s coming. guards can play right away.

  • Its The Kid

Jefferies was supposed to be the next Danny Manning (minus the injuries) so I would say that his upside was much higher when he came out of college…

You can show all the highlights you want still doesnt take away from the fact that the Knicks missed out on the best player available when they picked, as well as their biggest need… And as much as you may like to downplay Jennings, he is looking like the early favorite for ROY and a much better fit for this system… I wish Hill the best but I cant ignore the obvious…

  • Its The Kid

Every player makes progress at their own pace… Guards typically develop into their role sooner but thats not always the case… Especially at the point, there are alot of nuances to learn and running a team is the hardest job in the NBA… Look at Nash or Billups their transition took alot longer…

  • http://theKnicksBlog.com Tommy Dee

Danny Manning coming out of college?

    Hardly.

  • HaS

The next Danny Manning? That’s not saying much anyway.

  • HaS

Danny Manning. Good numbers. Always injured.

Well they were only half wrong.

  • Its The Kid

Yes… Ask around thats what many Draft specialist said… Remember he lead his team to the NCAA Title game against Maryland, and was the only good player on the team… He also came out after his Sophomore year, he had alot of upside… Why wouldnt you believe it, Hill has been compared to anything from Amare to Channing Frye… We already know he’s not Amare he lacks the fluidity but people still speculate…

  • manners

There’s a theory that people like to see others do bad and I am starting to believe that is the case with Knick fans who are ALWAYS so negative. HaS…. Hill not getting minutes doesn’t reflect on his talent. It’s the kid…., it’s been what?? 8 games into the season?? Let’s see what Jennings ends up being . And NO ONE said that Jefferies was the next coming of Danny Manning!!! NO ONE SAID THAT!!!!!

  • Its The Kid

Yeah Manning was a problem when healthy, but that was hardly ever… But I’d be happy if Jefferies was a poor, poor man’s Manning…

  • Its The Kid

You are wrong, many people said that… I have no reason to lie… People said Morrison was the next Bird… Did I make that up too? Listen, think what you want I speak fact… And I love when people say stuff like “NO ONE SAID THAT!!!!” Like they contacted everyone and asked before they made the statement… “Like wishing dont make it so”… Putting something in caps dont make it true… And by the way I did say I wish Hill the best, I want him to be the Next Amare, Tim Duncan, Karl Malone if possible I just dont see it…

  • http://theKnicksBlog.com Tommy Dee

Dude, manning and jeffries in comparison isn’t even in the ballpark.

Manning won a title in 88 by himself (oh wait with Larry Brown) they beat Stacy King, Harvey Grant, Blaylock etc.

He beat 3 first round picks BY HIMSELF.

Not even close to the same skill set as JJ. Not even close.

  • http://theKnicksBlog.com Tommy Dee

i don’t have to ask around. I saw Manning and the 88 tournament.

    Did you?

and I went to maryland. Coverdale played out of his mind so did jeff newton.

Jeffries was good, but not even in the ball park from a skill set to Danny Manning.

    Sorry bro, next.

  • http://theKnicksBlog.com Tommy Dee

    Manning was a problem?

Yeah I’d say so, he won a title by carrying the team on his back and beat 3 first round picks.

  • http://theKnicksBlog.com Tommy Dee

LOL first jeffries was manning and now morrison was the next LARRY BIRD?

Dude who are you talking about? Who said that?

again, reason 1,000,001 why I hate comparisons.

    they are laughable.

  • Its The Kid

Got this off ESPN… An Old Draft Tracker… I love when people play themselves, dont do research and talk like they are soooo knowledgable… Quit while you ahead Tommy, Please… And if you are still a none believer go to google and type Jared Jeffries comparisons to Danny Manning… And see what else comes up… Oh and “manners” this is for you too…

As a freshman in 2001, Jeffries was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and Sporting News Freshman All-American. He was named to the 2001 All-Big Ten second team.

Positives: Jeffries is a freak of nature. He does everything well, but nothing great — yet. He can score, rebound, block shots, run the floor, handle the rock and dish it to an open teammate. One of those rare players who has the ability to play comfortably on both the perimeter and down low. Very intelligent and disciplined. Think a more athletic Danny Manning.

Negatives: To make this jump after two college seasons, Jeffries needs to add another 20-30 pounds. Unselfish to a fault, he won’t be able to use his low post skills until he adds muscle and toughness. Jeffries is neither overly athletic nor quick. May have difficulty guarding smaller forwards.

  • http://theKnicksBlog.com Tommy Dee

And I love when people need to reference ESPN and not their own 2 eyes. you don’t need ESPN do you?

again, did you ever watch manning on college?

  • Its The Kid

Espn said, Nbadraft.net said that… The same people who compare everyone…

  • Its The Kid

No I said people compared Jared not me… Never said me… But you must not have read that part… Facts are facts but instead of seeing the facts you wanna ask me what I think… Yes Tommy I saw Manning play… I saw the NCAA championship in 88… And I saw Jared play for Indiana and carry his team to the Chip… Thats where the comparisons may have stemmed but dont try to change the subject… You asked me who said this and I told you… I would never say JJ was on the level of Manning but in college he had way more skills than he has now… He shoot the ball well, played inside and out… And could hit the 3pt… We arent comparing apples to oranges… They had similar skills…

  • http://theKnicksBlog.com Tommy Dee

Uh no i saw your first comment

“Jefferies was supposed to be the next Danny Manning (minus the injuries) so I would say that his upside was much higher when he came out of college…”

    Where does it say “people?”

If you did see both jeffries and manning play, you’d know the comparison was the run to the finals with the lack of talent, not how their skill sets compared.

jeffries wasn’t even their best player during the run.
coverdale was then got hurt and jeff newton had a huge run…dane fife.

    they were a great team.

Again, from a comparison standpoint, i don’t need help.

So does that mean I played myself?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1ysi7yB1fg

  • Its The Kid

“Supposed to be” doesnt imply that I thought that, just means that many people did… But fine if you assumed that, no problem… Jeffries was far and away the star on that team, he received all the accolades.. Where did Coverdale, Newton, and Fife go in the draft? They’re were not a great team, they were not expected to be in the Final 4… They overachieved and played well at the right time… Maryland had more draft prospects… I was never a huge Jeffries fan but he played great in the Final 4… And had a great skill set coming out of college, much better than Jordan Hill…

  • http://theKnicksBlog.com Tommy Dee

Dude, talk about changing subjects. You’re all over the place.

Manning was abetter college player than jeffries with a different skill set. JJ was 2nd team All American. All manning did was win National player of the year.

You are confusing the lack of surrounding talent, but Jeffries’ talent was better than manning. Manning won games by himself and won the chip.

Hill is stronger and has more fluidity and skill offensively. jeffries was more polished defensively and from 3.

jeffries was the 7th big man taken in the draft

  • itzyung1

Guys Chris Paul is really getting frustrated over in New Orleans….
I wont get hasty but ima suggest everyone keeps that in the back of their mind.

  • DVJ

The Kid…you need to quit while your behind within reasonable distance lol. This is a great debate but I think Tommy has a point. Your all over the place bro.
Jeffries is getting playing time because he’s going to be traded. What’s so hard to understand about that guys? Like Tommy said, Hills time will come sooner or later and I think he’ll prove to be a great pick. As for Jennings, he’ll be a great pick also if he can stay out of trouble. We all know what he did when we passed on him at the draft. He went online and made a video with Joe Buddens in which he clearly said “f@*k the Knicks”….let’s not forget he got to the draft late. What other lottery predicted player was late arriving to the draft? Can you recall anybody in the history of the game being late (not absent) to their own draft? I’m not saying he’s the next A Iverson but he does have tendencies. So far he’s been great on the court but we’re not even 10 games into the season lol.

Saw Isiah in the barber shop tonight. He kept telling us how we need to get down to Florida and enjoy the weather. It’s sad what he went through with the Knicks because he’s cool as $hit.

  • Bob

    no

  • Bob

tommy, why are you posting propaganda today? cuz people are just starting to realize how bad the KNICKS stink, and soon D’Antoni will be found.you are def working for james dolan pushing GALLO,pushing douglas now pushing a guy who doesnt play TRADE THEM ALL,FIRE D;ANTONI LYNCH DONNIE WALSH TURNING A BAD TEAM INTO A REAL BAD TEAM IS A REAL BAD PLAN.IF LEBRON IS VERY GULLIBLE,HE WILL SIGN WITH S

  • Mucha

The Knicks have to showcase Jeffries, that is obvious. But Jordan Hill needs to play, period… not to take long jumpers as soon as he steps on the floor though.

  • Mucha

I like comparisons when they are refined – but some comparisons are laughable (Morrison/Bird, Oden/Russell, Gallinari/Nowitzki, Evans/Hughes, Hill/Stoudemire).

    nbadraft.com comparisons are rarely accurate.

  • Sergio

If Jordan Hill hits the weights and works hard, he can develop into a Brian Grant/Antonio Davis/Udonis Haslem type PF. If he slacks off and keeps smiling after losses, he’ll be Mikki Moore/Chris Wilcox/Stromile Swift.

  • the oak

Yea comparisons are a joke. The sites especially nbadraft.net make over the top comparisons all the time. They have gotten a little better about it as of late though.

I’ve seen where they compared projected 2nd rounders to hall of famers. The one I like was they projected loius williams to go in the 2nd round and compared him to allen iverson. huh

And Espn has people brainwashed. People now a days take what espn says as gospel.

  • blackwood

DVJ….It sounds like the Walsh defense team has arrived! Your going to bad mouth Jennings now and water down what he is doing while saying Hill will prove to be a great pick (you think) based on what exactly? Yes Jennings said what he said because the whole time he wanted to play for us and felt insulted, he was passed on for a could be bust!! Jennings upside is WAY higher then Hills is or ever will be.

Protecting our over the hill GM who blew it on draft night by down playing the fact that Jennings is killing right now is pointless! The same way pretending the Gallo pick was not another blown pick, say what you want about Zeek but I would bet anyone he would of taken Jennings! While Zeek had management short comings he sure know how to make the most of the draft and knew talent when he saw it!!

Walsh saved us some money cool but as a GM he has been a bust!! We where better off bringing him in as a consultant and letting Zeek pick the drafts at least until 2010! Lets just call it how it is if it was Zeek who would have made these draft day loser picks he would be lynched but because its Walsh lets give him a break?? I dont want to believe that behavior is race based but it sure looks like it!!

where is the outrage that was there when the team was losing under Zeek?? Oh wait let me guess we will blame all Walsh short comings and poor drafting on Zeek while at the same time throwing Zeek under the bus for a draft pick he traded away believing his team would be much better then it ended up being! Yet not one person uses that same theory when Zeek had to step in for the man who really was the worst GM in Knicks history and who buried the knicks under huge contracts and trash over the hill or never that good players!! Scott Layden!!!! the same guy who traded Camby and the 7th pick for Mcdyess!! To quote the NY Times

“All the dreadful decisions have left the Knicks with a roster of virtually untradeable players, a payroll that is $40 million over the salary cap and a future that Layden should be glad he no longer has to worry about.”

Mind you they both have made mistakes (Zeek & Walsh) and both where handed a hard job but if your going to blame Zeek for all the Walsh mistakes then do the same when you bring up Zeek and pin it to Layden!

That being said you can make it all better Walsh if you could package Harrington,Duhon,Jeffries,Gallo & Nate for CP3 & Armstrong! That would be a great start towards proving me wrong!! =) CP3 will have Curry looking great (& up his trade value) & give us one star to pair up with another at the end of this season. So come on walsh there’s more then enough time to prove me wrong!!

  • Bob

    Sure there is …..He Stinks!

  • HaS

That’s an excuse. Big man have come out of high school and contributed right away. Moses Malone, Kevin Garnett, Amar’e Stoudemire, Tyson Chandler etc. if Hill is such a prospect (which I’m not denying) He. Should. Be. Playing.
