Report: Grizzlies Talking To Tinsley
By Ben Kopelman - Nov 14, 2009 5:47 pm

Via ESPN:

“The Grizzlies have begun serious negotiations with free agent Jamaal Tinsley, and could sign the veteran as early as Saturday, The Commercial Appeal of Memphis has reported.

“Tinsley, who missed all of last season and much of 2007-08, was in Memphis on Saturday working toward terms for a contract, the newspaper reported.”

Would a guy like Tinsley be a suitable replacement for Duhon in the Knicks struggling backcourt?  I would think that DW has spoken to him or checked in with him at least indirectly given his ties to Indiana, so my guess is that the thinking around the team is “no.”

And I’m glad.  I think we all know it’s going to take a hell of a lot more than Jamaal Tinsley to get this team moving in the right direction…

Ahh who cares honestly? put toney douglas in there, just let the kids play and we’ll see what we have. This is all elevator music anyway.

The only thing we, and donnie, should be focused on is trading curry and jeffries and getting a first rounder. I’d have no problem packaging Chandler in these deals if it means getting a pick. Long term, if Lebrons on the team, and presumably Gallo is a contributor where does Chandler fit? Thats basically three SFs seeing as Gallo isnt a bruiser

here here…

add on to that list: hire a lawyer who can somehow show that utah doesnt actually have the rights to our pick…might be easier than trading curry…

I have begun to wonder what the hell Donnie was thinking with bringing lee and nate back. He couldn’t pull a sign and trade off for ANYTHING? A draft pick? I mean honestly, if he pulls off getting 1 or 2 big tick free agents there is no conceivable way he resigns lee or nate…. sooo what are they doing on this team?

DLee & Nate have earned those contracts so far, huh? It seems like Donnie is just going to sleep through this season. I know the Knicks weren’t supposed to be great, but I didn’t think they were going to be this awful either.

Nate & _avi_ won’t be getting those million dollar bonuses, contingent on the team making the playoffs.

If in shape (which I had heard he was in tremendous shape prior to the season), Tinsley would be an upgrade over Duhon and Douglas at point guard.

Exactly!! taking a year with Tinsley could not hurt at all in fact he could teach both Duhon and TD how a PG moves the ball and hits a team mate on the move or when open. he may not be many things but he has always been a pass first PG who knew how to run an offense.

Forget Tinsely … Howard Beck tweeted that the Hornets are talking to the Kings about an Okafor for Thomas trade … if the Hornets are going to start dumping salaries Donnie needs to get on the phone and do whatever’s necessary to pry CP3 from New Orleans!

I have to agree even if Tinsley doesnt work out giving him a one year contract and it doent bother anyone hell if he only make Duhon worried and got him to play better i would be happy because duhon isnt going to work harder when he knows his job is a lock.(Tinlsey may work man would that be bad lol i rather have him next year to if he works out at least we know he can be a starting PG and not a backup who got a job because of coach K)

Of course we didn’t want to talk Tinsley, remember? Because we’re that damn good! LOL.
