Breaking: Raja Bell Traded to Golden State in S-Jax Deal
By Tommy Dee - Nov 16, 2009 11:37 am

Via ESPN:

“…Disgruntled Golden State Warriors forward Stephen Jackson is about to make a fresh start with a new team.

The Warriors completed a deal Monday that sends Jackson and guard Acie Law to the Bobcats in exchange for veteran swingmen Raja Bell and Vladimir Radmanovic.

The trade will be announced Monday. The Cleveland Cavaliers had long been considered the favorites to land the Warriors’ former captain in the wake of Jackson’s trade demand late in the summer, when Jackson announced that he hoped to be dealt to the Cavaliers, New York Knicks or one of the three Texas teams.

But ESPN.com reported earlier this month that Charlotte had quietly registered serious interest in Jackson and could not be dismissed as a threat to acquire him.

Marc Stein is the senior NBA writer for ESPN.com…”

I wonder if Raja Bell was on the Knicks radar, or now that he’s in Golden State does he become easier to acquire. The fact that Chris Mullin isn’t there, my answer would be no.

DJ Augustin seems easier to acquire.

I’m kind of enjoying following the Warriors from a distance, wondering the whole while how Don Nelson has managed to con GMs out of their cash for at least a decade now. Nellie can’t even PRETEND to care.

Poor Golden State. After that brief playoff run I thought the Baron Davis-Steve Jackson-Al Harrington trio was going to be a force in the West. Davis left and the Warriors ran the other two out of town.

I know this team needs a Raja Bell type player, I am just hoping that throughout this year someone can explain to Larry Hughes that it needs to be him.

Sometimes it seems like he is the only guy playing defense out there. The problem is, he takes shots like he’s Kobe. He can nail threes – he just needs to limit his offense to hitting the open shot.

One of the few good things about this year is you can audition and try to mold your players for next year. I would put effort into seeing if Hughes could play this role, as I think he could be resigned at a bargain due to his reputation.

I think Larry can be a Raja type but DAntoni’s crazy sub rotation can have a player confused.

If I remember right Larry came in the league touted as a scorer so he has the scorer’s mentality even though his jumper is suspect. Isnt he currently #2 in the league in steals? He needs the playing time and if he can get a running mate to do the same, imagine the fast break possiblities which is most of the time non existant because of Duhon’s non-capablity to start one.

I wonder if G-state is gonna have a fire sale moving all of the long term deals and hand the team over to Curry, Randolph, Morrow, Bendris . Ellis is gonna be pissed Jax was his wingman this should be interesting.

Tommy
Dont we have the 14 mil to absorb Chris Paul’s salary and still make moves for 2010?

Surely a kid that ran the DAntoni offense in the Olympics and a kid that likes to play defense and a kid that will demand others play defense would be a wise DW move AND a kid that would be a great draw for the BIG FAs, Im sure LBJ wouldnt mind playing with CP3?

Send Duhon and Jeffries for CP and Peja, Peja on his last legs would still thrive in DAntoni’s system.

I heard rumor the owner is moving people(Emeka) when they just got him so maybe DW can work some things out.

Also do you think Mike will ask DW to try and get him Raja?

I know I know wishful thinking

I dont think NY would be able to trade for Paul until they get under the Cap because Paul is in a BYC contract.

Anthony Randolph is in the doghouse and now Radmanovic will get some minutes. Donnie Walsh should definitely monitor this situation.

Good trade for the Warriors btw.

Damn I really wanted the Knicks to trade Curry for Jackson and George/Law.

I think Jackson would definitely mess up 2010 money if we are gonna mess up that money let it be for CP3 a PG our glaring weakness position.

CP3 is destined for a bigger stage than New Orleans, Don Sterling told him that so cmon Dolan talk to DW and bring him to MSG get him out of the West so he can battle Rondo more than twice a year lol.

no i did the math. if we traded for jackson and deveon george, that would have cleared up close to 3 mil if we traded curry in the package.

unfortunately gs found a better expiring deal

Hey Tommy, since trading has begun, how does this proposal sound … I think it benefits both teams, meets cap guidelines, and dosn’t put DWon the hook for contracts beyond 2010:

JJ and Will (hate to see you got) to Portland – (Outlaw & Bantum are hurt)
Bayless and Martell Webster to NYK.

whadayathink?

The salaries match up, but I rather try to trade away a package of Jeffries with Lee first.

And I would only do that trade if I really felt Bayless is the answer for us at the pg position, which I’m not necessarily confident is the case. And I don’t like taking on Webster’s contract.

JJ and Chandler = not enough IMO.
