Ellis Commited to Warriors?

Via Real GM:

“…Warriors guard Monta Ellis says that he hadn’t been informed about a meeting between the team and his agent.

“I’ve realized that people are going to talk,” Ellis said. “With freedom of speech, they can say what they want to say, but I won’t let it get to me and I’m not feeding into it. …

“I’ve been saying since training camp, ‘I’m a Warrior.’ What else do you want me to do? They keep on printing (I might be traded), but I don’t pay attention to it.”

Agent Jeff Fried is expected to be in the Bay Area this week and will sit down with the Golden State organization.

“I don’t know what the meeting is about,” Ellis said. “Like I said, I play for the Warriors. Whatever they’re meeting about, they’re meeting about. There’s a possibility that we’re trying to move somebody in when you all think it’s about trying to move somebody out.”

Warriors general manager Larry Riley said, “It’s not out of the ordinary to meet with players’ representatives…”

Not buying this for a second. Classic PR. Is Nellie committed to the Warriors? Anyone who watched last night’s game against the Cavs knows what I’m talking about.

Ellis is a good player, a great athlete and hes young. and if we can get him by moving wilson and curry than its a no brainer.

but im not sold on him being a true pg. but maybe in this system u dont need one. there are certainly some attitude questions, but everyone in the NBA seems to have attitude issues. hes not a terrific 3 point shooter, and maybe thats a good thing, (considering that with the exception of dave lee, everyone else in the rotation takes as just about more 3s than 2s.)

he gets to the basket and draws fouls, which is huge. and considering he is so dyanmic getting to the basket he could open up things for danilo.

i personally think that if wilson doesnt get 30 minutes regularly and take 15 shots a game than he is pretty much useless on offense. hes not a very smart player. he has to drive more and shoot less 3s. and he really is a better shooter off the dribble. i kind of think we should trade him well he still has some value, bc in my eyes he is a second or thrid option on a bad team at this point. he is a sick athlete, but doesnt use it on offense and his handle is attrocious!

he has to get consistent looks on offense to be good, but hes not good enough to get consistent looks. in my opinion that makes him a good player for bad teams.

i think they should have tried to trade him to move up to take curry. but thats obviously past…

also, if we are not gonna push the ball (and God knows Duhon wont!) then just play curry and lee together…lets see how we do with a little more traditional team. at least down the stretch. im all for running and gunning. but not walking and chucking.

Why won’t the warriors just fire nellie???? He has bad relationships with his good, young players.

and what happened with nellie at last nights game?

  • Eduardo15

    “walking and chucking”

That should be the motto for the 09 Knicks.

  • Eduardo15

Why Nellie still has an Nba coaching job, should be the question.

All this guy do is antagonize with his talented players, as he did some 13 years ago with Chris Webber and still does every single season.

    Hey Jeffries wassup these days?

“Just walking and chucking, my man”.

Hey anybody think maybe the knicks could broaden this idea and maybe make a 3 team thing happen in which we dont get any of the talent in a trade we just dump a contract or 2 mix in some of our rooks and end up with some first RD draft picks? Just a thought.

  • HaS

1st Round picks to do what? Pick a couple more busts?

  • HaS

Ellis was picked 40th… FORTIETH!!!! I would have to imagine the Knicks could have drafted him themselves if they had any idea how to evaluate talent.

  • blackwood

lmaooo I hear you HaS but having a few first RD picks could be more attractive to the top free agents then what we have now lol or maybe use them together with our rooks on a CP3 move. Just trying to come up with ways to fix the donnie screw ups lol

I will give Isiah credit on that. He knows how to pick talent.
The funny thing is….as soon as Walsh trades Curry, all the Walsh bashers will have to be quiet for about a week lol.

I actually think an inside outside game with AI and Curry may be productive. One thing for sure…it’s an upgrade over the Duhon and Lee pick and roll. AI and Lee could also be a dangerous pick and roll for opponents.

    We’ll see

True Isiah was only good for one thing and that was drafting talented players. Look how good Trevor Ariza turned out. That would’ve been the only reason I would’ve kept Isiah around – scout!
