Via my buddy Brian Mahoney AP:
“…EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.(AP) Al Harrington and Danilo Gallinari each scored 17 points, and the New York Knicks kept the New Jersey Nets winless with a 98-91 victory Saturday.
David Lee added 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Wilson Chandler and Larry Hughes each finished with 13 points. The Knicks won their second straight and proved that worse basketball is played a mere 10 miles away.
The Nets fell to 0-13, inching closer to the NBA record of 17 straight losses to start a season, held by Miami and matched by the Los Angeles Clippers. They’ll try to avoid it during a difficult four-game trip out West that starts with back-to-back games at Denver and Portland, capped by a visit to the Lakers.
Chris Douglas-Roberts scored 24 points and Brook Lopez had 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Nets, who shot only 4 of 18 from 3-point range and barely broke 90 points against one of the NBA’s worst defensive teams.
Devin Harris was back for the Nets after missing 10 games with a strained right groin. He made a quick impact upon entering in the first quarter, driving for a layup and then throwing a lob on the break to Lopez for a basket. He finished with 12 points, while Terrence Williams had 17.
The loss could put more pressure on Nets coach Lawrence Frank, who won his first 13 games after he was promoted in January 2004 and now has a losing streak that matches it.
Things aren’t much better for the Knicks (3-9), but they’re better than the Nets. New York won all three preseason games between the local rivals.
According to STATS LLC, there hadn’t been an NBA game matching teams who had each played at least 11 games and combined to win so few of them since Dec. 3, 1994, when Minnesota was 2-13 as it hosted the 0-14 Clippers.
In the end, the Knicks held on after building a 14-point lead midway through the third quarter. The Nets cut it to one on a couple of occasions in the fourth and were only down two after Douglas-Roberts’ jumper with 1:57 to go, but Lee made a layup before Harrington’s 3-pointer put it away with a minute left…”more.

o shit the knicks won 2 straight an now has 3 wins in the season
damm this team is overarchieving.
they most def winning 50 games now
they don’t need Ai or any players they don’t even need next summer with this awesome roster.
i don’t know about u but i think the euro kid will go down as the greatest white kid to play the game
damm these knicks are good
what u guys got to say?
i say that kool aid taste great …
The same post in two different threads. cool.
I don’t get all you haters. Are you really a Knicks fan? We just won and all some fans can do is bash the knicks. We aren’t good but just enjoy a win. All some of you say is negative crap. We know we aren’t good this year but give it a rest.
What was the purpose of this post? And the same one you made in another thread.
Amen…a lot of people that would rather see the Knicks lose in order to say “I told you so” because they don’t like management. Instead just give the guys credit when they play together and win. It seems like there always HaS to be someone predicting the team will lose by 10 to the Nets jus to support their opinions…but it’s okay since real fans can be critical of the team while still supporting them and not hoping they will fail.
…and why even point out Gallo is white? The reverse racism is completely unnecessary. Why even separate any player based on race? Just immature in my opinion. I hope this thread doesn’t denigrate to where the DN thread did a couple years back.
Thanks for the shout out man. Good to know I’m on you guys’ minds.
To clarify, I don’t want the team to fail. I want the same thing everyone here (I hope) wants. The Knicks to be at the top of the league and not be the laughing stock/the punch line of countess jokes. Part of gaining some semblance of respectability is being the “smartest fans in the world” as is always proclaimed and challenging management to make the best moves possible. There is no perfect GM, but some can go on streaks of greatness, where everything they touch seems to turn to gold (hopefully trophy gold).
Walsh is not beyond dispute. He’s never won anything in this league and neither has _’antoni, so what makes them above reproach? They both have made mistakes, how do I know? They themselves have admitted as much, most of the missteps made I questioned at the time, but I’m not the one getting paid to get it right, they are.
Just because I’m not declaring “In Donnie We Trust” does not make me less of a fan, I would argue it makes me more of a fan. I’m not rooting for Walsh, _’antoni, Dolan Galinari, Toney, Hill or any individual. I’m rooting for that Orange and Blue, The New York Knickerbockers. Period.
If you notice I did proclaim that real fans should criticize also. I never said anything about “In Donnie We Trust” and I do beleive that Donnie has made mistakes, as well as a couple of things right.
At the same time as fans we should give the players credit when they do something right. They won tonight and the first thread I see from you after Gallo scored 17 and helped the team to a victory was a negative comment. It’s fine if you feel that way but at least temper the posts with credit when its due or it comes off looking as straight negativity.
My first words tonight were “Nice win.” I pointed out some negative, but also some positive. You can’t get too high or to low after a loss or a win.
It’s a long season and I’ve numbed myself in anticipation of lot of losses.
I hate to be negative but I like to keep it real. I am not going to be happy until David Lee is playing his natural position when we have a Curry or Milicic on the floor. You may think Eddy Curry did not do anything but if he did not draw the 2 fouls on Brook Lopez we could have lost the game. Lopez had 5 fouls in the 4th qtr and it showed because he was not aggressive on defense. I’m not happy that we have to hit threes late in games to win. I’m not happy that Duhon has to be threatened by Allen Iverson coming to take his job for him to have his first good game of the season. I am sorry fellas I am not impressed by this win. We beat a 0-12 team. The Nets were missing key players. We are healthy and we still struggled to beat this team. You don’t think Courtney Lee would not have made a difference. I want to see what starting line up that this so called coach is going to put up against the Celtics. I don’t want to see David Lee at center and Wilson chandler guarding Kevin Garnett. I am probably the only one who does not hate this roster. I just hate the way the roster is being managed by the coach. I have a problem with the coach asking the players to play out of there element.
Unreal some people are not happy unless they are negative. And I agree why does race have to be used “white kid” just isn’t necessary at all. We are all supposed to be knick fans in here there’s no need for that Bull…. In here!
the knicks got alot more to prove to me
donnie got 2010 summer
an danni boy will never be a good coach mayb offensively that’s it
when the knicks are 500 or 2 3 game under i’ll give them props
come on now yea i know they won but they almost lost it..
u don’t have to be a SHEEP like alot of people..
i aint racist i said greatest white boy i can’t say greatest of all time cuz i can’t see that but he could be better than BIRD RITE..ight..
b
e
z
That sounds even worse…you’re not helping yourself out.
lol.
ok buddy
does HARRINGTON ever pass the ball?
yea passes
after 10-15 touches..
I think he did one time with the Pacers, but that was because Reggie promised to pass it back. When Reggie shot the ball Harrington swore to himself he would never be fooled like that ever again.
thats funny
Knicks really should’ve won by alot more, D’Antoni kept Curry in way too long and only had enough sense to take him out after the 14-point lead shrunk to 1. The minute Curry sits, Knicks reel off 6 quick points. Coincidence?
Curry will eventually get back into playing shape but you have to monitor his minutes in situations where Knicks are winning in the 4th quarter of games. If he isn’t producing AND is getting exploited on D, he may need a quick hook like the one showed for Danilo (allowing a wide open 3) and Nate (D’Antoni hating).
I think we should give the new slimmer Curry a chance. Lets see if he really is a force down low and if he is keep and look for a shooting guard. The positions that are weak are center and point and sg. Hughes is doing a better job at defending and distributing. Let’s really see what this team has before we go into panic mode again. Yes its early in the season but there’s is still time to turn this thing around. We have PF and SF why can’t we platoon at center, if someone has to it has to be gone let it be JJ. The bait: JJ and nate maybe hughers or AL or lee.
Courtney Lee. Trade for him. Lets do a little Lee for Lee.
Funny how times change, you should have seen the reaction when I suggested a David Lee for Courtney Lee + a first-round draft pick last year. ..
I don’t know if it’s a fair deal talent-wise (David Lee’s seriously a good player) but at least the Knicks would have gotten something in return for D Lee.
I was proabably one of them but I have realized all D Lee is a Verejao that is better with his hands. C Lee could be our future 2 guard put him in our core lineup of Toney, Courtney, Gallo, J Hill I like where we are headed.
I really like Courtney. Big time role player in the last playoffs. The kind of player every team needs surrounding their stars. Great contract value too. That being said, why would the Nets want to trade him? They are not excactly looking like a team to make a push for the playoffs.
Anyway, why did he not play?
The Nets would want to trade him because CDR and Terrence Williams are playing excellent. Both of whom play 2 guard.
Well At least we won the Game we really needed it Badly. D’antoni did leave Curry too long and I’m happy he finally benched Nate, he hasn’t played good this whole season and is Way too immature hopefully we can trade him. As far as Lee for Lee I’m not sure I would trade David for Courtney I think we can a lot more for Him.
Terrence Williams is going to be a real solid player in this league, he really has talent and is so NBA ready, he already looks like a vet out there.
I think he would have also been a great pick for us, as he could have filled our
gap at the 2guard for years to come. Mark my words Terrence Williams will be a real good player in this league.
On the other hand Gallo is scaring me out there, yes he’s a good spot up shooter but he can’t shoot off the dribble and the rest of his game is awful, really awful. He can’t take it to the whole or play any D. I know he is young but am I the only one here who just doesn’t believe this guy will ever be a star like so many on this blog think, and let’s not forget his back which doesn’t look right to me.
I don’t think he’s going to be a star either.
Classic “Hater” Comment…I mean the kid just tied for the team lead in scoring in a game they just won and you have to dig at him?
Harrington scored the same number of points in the game but to you those 17 were probably somehow more important and valuable…I wonder why that is???
I didn’t say Harrington’s points were more valuable. What are you getting at?
I don’t think Harrington is going to be a star either.
it’s 2 late for AL anyways..lol.
i guess you had to watch the game…gallo hit 3 shots off the dribble and tried to dunk on brook lopez.
I never saw him as a no. 1 or no. 2 – not with our plans for 2010 and beyond. It has been – IMO – sign two key FAs to be one and two and then Gallo presents himself self as a no. 3 option to knock down somewhere between 3-5 threes a game and get 15-17 points out there on the wings. I’m okay with his progression.
The thing that gets frustrating is the development of Jordan Hill – I know he just started playing basketball late in HS – and he is a project – BUT it would be nice to see some more of him.
The thing I have liked a little bit about the past two games is the depth has shown and there appears to be new contributors each night i.e. Harrington both games, Curry in Indiana, Gallo today, Chandler nice games in both, Hughes in Indiana – continues to steal.
dont worry bout gallo,……..he’ll get into it
wtf are you talking about…wasn’t gallinari 3-4 off the dribble today…did he not go and almost throw it down on brook lopez….seriously what are you talking about …really going out on a ledge and predicting that a lottery pick will be a “solid nba player”….but hey we will mark your words in stating that the #11 overall pick will be good as if that wasn’t already expected
Good win.. Duhon finally with a good game. Isn’t a little funny we passed on AI how to develop our young guys and TD plays 9 min and Hill plays 0? Why isn’t Hill getting Jarred Dummies minutes? I know we critisize Duhon and Jeffries alot but what abou the play of Nate this year? He went from doin 17 a game to being nonexistent. I’m very dissapointed in his play and antics. Tough schedule coming up. Maybe we can steal a win or 2…
Yes your probably the only one here that thinks that about Gallo steiker.
Good win
DaGawd thinks we should’ve won by more, I think a win is a win lol.
If Boston beats us by 5 tomorrow are you going to say we should’ve lost by more?
about the photo, why does david lee have that god-awful ty hansbrough face on? ugh…
anyhow, nice to see us put 2 wins together; a win is a win.
agree about t-will, he’s going to be a solid wing for many years. athletic guys that can slash, defend, pass and rebound well are rare. if he just becomes an adequate player on offense, he’ll be an all-star someday. he just needs a consistent perimeter shot, which is probably why we didn’t pick him, that’s a strict requirement moving forward for this team.
give gallo some time. it’s still his first full season, although i’m worried about his back long-term. if he stays healthy, he’s going to be a very, very good player.
Didn’t get to see the game yet. From what I heard Chandler finally having an efficient game on both sides of the court and Harrington being kept in check for most of his minutes were key.
I’m still a little pissed when I look at the minutes of Douglas (10) and Hill (0). Not cool, Mike, not cool.
Hear you on the minutes to Hill and Douglas – Douglas just launches those shots from the corner – you cannot see him sometimes and swish – and I like his movement going towards the rim and he just lays it in after receiving a pass.
Wish we could see some more of Hill – even if it is just for 8-10 minutes – kind of like an energizer. Sure he may accumulate four fouls in 10 minutes – but he also might score 8-10 points and grab three offensive rebounds.
I think whats more important then how many minutes they are getting in game 13 of the season, is how many minutes they are getting in game 75 of the season.
By then, I would expect the plan is to have TD playing in about 15-20 min and Hill around 10-15.
gbaked – I hope so – I really do. I’m fine accepting that Hill is a project and will take time. But if it comes down to winning games this season v. giving minutes and in game experience to the rookies – I favor the development. It took me a while – but I finally have come to peace with that Utah has our first round draft choice and we just need to develop for the 2010 season – I just hope they know what they are doing with the development of Hill and Douglas as well as Gallo and Chandler.
dvj, why do you say i’m the only who thinks that about gallo when the first post after mine was another reader who agreed?
cragganmor, thanks for being with me on terrence williams you are def seeing
what i’m seeing. But even if Gallo stays healthy, which I’m sure you must doubt,
I really don’t see the “very, very good player” you see he can become.
What does he do that makes you think that, we all see the guy can really shoot but besides that?
because being able to shoot as well as he does is something very few players have.
Plus he has a good basketball frame. Is very young. Comes from a family of ballers (not to be undervalued) has been playing in a good learning environment for a long time and seems to be a very smart player.
Yes there are things he has to improve, and he may not be a #1 option… but I can see him growing into a Ginobili level star. A great perimeter player to go along with FA1 an 1A.
Because he’s effective on the floor and he doesn’t even play like he used to in Italy. How would his stats look if he tried (or if he had the opportunity) to drive and develop his midrange game? I think 20 points per game.
Basically I really want him to be good because I care about this team but
until Gallo puts the ball on the floor I’m not sold..
Agree with you on Gallo.
I’d love him to develop more of an inside game and show that he can drive to the basket with some sort of finesse or power, but you can see how he can end up being a very good player. Guys at his height can make a productive career just with the ability to nail the open jumper – think guys like Vlad Radmonovic, Brian Scalabrine, Roberty Horry. These guys on offense essentially roamed the three point line waiting for kick outs, and they have made careers out of it. Worst case, at 20 years old, Gallo is already a better shooter than all of them.
He shows flashes of the ability to go basket, he doesn’t seem absolutely overwhelmed all the time. More than once he’s successfully made his way to the post, and made a nice spin move into a mid-range jumper. He had three field goals that weren’t three pointers, so he is not getting all his points off threes like he once did.
The fact that he is 6′10 and can shoot opens up a lot of possibilities for mismatches, and D’Antoni’s system thrived on the mismatch. If you play at SF chances are he can shoot over the defender, if you play him at PF you draw out a big man and make it much easier to score in the paint.
There is a reason he was highly regarded coming out of Europe. He was not drafted as a favor. He’s a legitimate prospect.
Just remember this: Lots of teams stash players in Europe for two years before they ever see an NBA court. He could still be playing in Europe right now, we could be following his progress in Europe right now. He just put up 17 points against NBA talent at age 21. Give him a break.
Very good post, Jus.
” Vlad Radmonovic, Brian Scalabrine”?
Damn we’re setting the bar extremely low all of a sudden aren’t we?
yeah, and what about that one -legged guy who used to play with westchester community college? Gallo blew him out in a game of horse
All I said is that those guys made careers out of just shooting three pointers. Scalabrine gets like 5 million a year, Vlad is getting 7. Obviously, at some point, they had value. And I said is in a worst case scenario, Gallo is already better than them.
steiker9…It’s obvious that you didn/t see the game cause if you did you would’ve seen Gallo take it to the hole (not Whole!!!) and also create off the dribble. Are you a Knicks fan or just another one of many who use this to complain and moan about the Knicks??… Yea the record is bad and the mix isn’t right but the Knicks do have good players and Gallo is one of them.
Open your eyes steiker9 Gallo puts it on the floor. He himself said that he is working on taking it to the Hole cause teams are now starting to crowd his jumper. I don’t believe that you want him to be really good cause if you did you wouldn’t be so harsh. If your kid was learning something and wasn’t good at it yet would you be saying that you aren’t sold on him or her??
and one more thing steiker9 what do you see that makes you say that he’d not going to be good. THE KNICKS WON THE GAME and Gallo scores 17 with 4 rebounds in 23 minutes and all you can write is that he isn’t good!!!…Cmon!!!!
Manners there are going to be some people on this thread that no matter how well Gallo or (Lee for that matter) might do for the rest of his career will always be adverse to giving him any credit and it will only be for non basketball reasons. Those “fans” are making themselves more and more obvious post after post.
Dude, we know he puts the ball on the floor, but how often? Most of the time he takes that one dribble, pump fake, gets his man in the air and the shoots. People want him to be more aggresive. That’s the same knock on Chandler. Am I saying he isn’t playing well? No, you’re right, he’s knocking down some key shots…but just a little more assertiveness from Galo and people will feel more confident about Gallo.
I do hear what you’re saying though, Manners.
LOL I think I know where they are trying to take that conversation and I’m so not going there!
Happy for the win, but…we’ll see. Develop the youngsters, huh? They just didn’t want Iverson that’s all. I tell you as I saw Camby last night, Collins playing like a 10 year vet last, Nene all those associated with the Knicks, it had me shaking my head.
When you see Marty dribble the ball with confidence like that and you look at all the rookies who were short changed on bad knick teams like Ariza, Collins, Balkman, you just ask yourself if these guys would have gotten the opportunity to play often what type of important roles would they have on this team. I know, we’re talkin about Collins and Balkman. You have to remember the players Collins and Balkman were on the Knicks was nothing like they were in college. Balkman was a very good player in NC State and so was Marty at Temple. But they didn’t have the opportuny and confidence to be good on the Knicks. I’m just saying whenever we drafted or traded away someone they ended up being apart of good teams, lol. And We’re not going to even talk about Ariza last year and this year speaks for itself. This guy was good since I saw play against LeBron in a hs invitational tournament in Jersey. I think TD and Hill is on that same path.
I would hate to see the Knicks trade Chandler. Hate to see him three years down the line, lol.
Balkman went to college in South Carolina.
Scott, you’re right. I got those two mixed up,lol.
we’ll see tomorrow if it is true that the team is really improving about the shots selection and sharing the ball. Maybe Wilson is copying the great season of josh smith: no more 3point shots! maybe d’antoni has renounced to his up-tempo system and he finally realize duhon’s not nash! As for danilo…..well you know i am his biggest fan, still i don’t think we will see the true danilo before a couple of years: he has to adjust his body and spend many many endless days in a weight room. You see steiker, i definitely think he’ll be a star.
you’re right it’s gonna take a while to see the real Danilo…I feel ppl should really chill on their negative Gallo predictions for a while…he’s very young, he just came back from back surgery, it’s essentially his rookie year and he’s still proving to be a main factor and weapon for this team. Nitpick his game right now all you want, but he’s still learning and has a way to got but he’s holding his own and hitting shots…give the young man some due. You’re only as good as your last game and Gallo, Harrington and Lee were key in a Knicks win.
How is Gallo a better shooter than Robert Horry, are you kidding me?
Manners your comparison of Gallo who is an adult basketball player
to the way you treat a kid is laughable, sorry I talked about your lil baby gallo.
Last thing I never said Gallo would not be good read my posts again if you want I said I am not sold on people who say he will be a very, very good player.
Do you really think he will average more than 20 points a game for his career?
ummm….Danilo is a better shooter than Horry…stats back that up…
Horry’s first 2 years -
3pt %
92-93 25.5%
93-94 32.4%
Gallo first 2 years –
3pt%
08-09 44.4%
09-10 45.9% so far
Horry’s career 3pt% is only 34.1%…Horry over his career was just an above average outside shooter. Some remember him as more but thats only because he made some really clutch shots in the playoffs and finals. Horry was clutch but he is not a better pure shooter than Gallo.
Oh and Steiker as far as your question goes after only playing in 39 games Gallo’s stats already project out to 16pg if he played jus 36 minutes a game. Thats considering he played hurt last year and had back surgery in the offseason, which isn’t easy to come back from.
You do realize the kid is shooting 45%FG, 45% 3pt and 92% FT? If he stays healthy, gets stronger and gains experience and plays more minutes he will surpass 20pts a game.
I think it’s time us fans start realizing that Gallo has alot of potential to be a special player and that if healthy Gallo will prove that the Knicks didn’t blow last years draft. As much as we hear about Jennings I look at Gallo’s situation (bad back, surgery, limited minutes) and I look at his percentages and realize that what he’s doing is actually pretty impressive. Most shooters need minutes and significant attempts to have percentages not even as good as what Gallo’s doing right now. Gallo is the bright spot…stop the hate.
Every team needs a Steve Kerr to keep defenses honest, let’s hope Galinari gets his chance for this team once it gets some good players for him to feed off of.
Exactly…except Gallo as a 6′10″ Steve Kerr is harder to guard. Let’s say you have a Lebron, Wade, Bosh, or Carmelo type plaayer that can command the lane…that means if the defense collapses the lane the kick out to Gallo will be very effective. If the other teams stays with Gallo the lane opens up for that Alpha scorer, especially if the other team is forced to keep a big on Gallo. If the other team keeps a shorter 3 on him Gallo can shoot over the top even if they close out. Gallo gonna be a bigger draw for a top free agent then we might realize.
great post justin
you see, we the italians basket lovers are so proud that 3 italian guys can actually play at a good level in the nba. For us is just a dream come true. We can even stop of thinking soccer all the time!
Yeah great post Justin. Gallinari is really young and has not grown into his body yet. I agree with manners and steiker that he needs to put the ball on the floor more and show off some of his good passing, but the fact that he can score this well in the nba without really a full skill set yet is really impressive. We’ve all seen flashes, and he had a nice pullup today that hopefully he starts using more. The truth is he’s close to 7 feet and he’s already one of the better shooters in the league. He’s shooting 46% from 3, while taking a decent amount, which is again really impressive for basically a rookie coming off of back surgery. Give him some time to develop everything.
I was thinking of a couple deals Tommy, just curious to see what ya think.
1. Hughes(expiring), Darko(expiring), Mobley’s contract(expiring, covered my insurance) for T-Mac(expiring) and Brian Cook(expiring), rockets save money in this deal with Mobley’s money covered by insurance.
2. David Lee(expiring) and Eddy Curry for Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton(expiring), DJ Augustine seems like more of a Larry brown kind of PG then Felton is, Larry Brown gets the kind of 4 he needs in Lee and the kind of low post player Brown badly needs in Eddy Curry, Bobcats play a much slower pace in terms of a system then the Knicks do, Curry would better fit in. Knicks get a defensive C who maybe more athletic and may fit better in a running system, knicks also get a young PG that might fit in there running system. This trade could free up more playing time for Jordan Hill at the 4.
3. Jarred Jefferies for Mike James(expiring) knicks free up more cap room.
4. Chris Duhon to Orlando for Orlando’s trade exception.
1) No real point in swapping expirings with the Rockets.
2) Not sold on Tyson Chandler, but he has to be better than Curry.
3) Sign me up now.
4) The Magic would have to throw us a second round pick, or something like that. I am not sure that we can simply just give Duhon away without any compensation in return.
Tracy McGrady would be a good reason to do it. At least then there would be a player here to help recruit LeBron to come play, who better than a star in his own right? He could see how class of an organization it is (I think I threw up in my mouth a little, Dolan popped into my mind).
T-Mac (if healthy) and LeBron would cause major headaches. With no real point guard it would give the team 2 players capable of handling the rock, facilitating the offense and creating their own shot or easy scoring opportunities for teammates.
Think it’s curious that T-Mac wants to play and Houston won’t let him? I wonder if they’re holding him out for a trade?
McGrady is a FA after this season. His lure would be for the money to come off the books so you could go after a real running mate. Which is why you would need the trade to be for Curry… not Huges and Darko.
McGrady in not the answer. If they wanted to go aging star route, then AI was the better choice.
AI is 34, T-Mac isn’t even 30 yet. Not to mention he’s 6′10″ with a limitless skill set, Allen would not have been a better choice.
T-mac is 6′8″ not 6′10″
He is listed as 6′8″ but I’ve heard a lot of commentators/former players that he’s taller. They list Garnett at 6′11″ but most people say he’s at least 7′0″ or 7′1″ in person.
Anyway the point was Allen Iverson is barely 6′. T-Mac has a 7′2″ wingspan and can do anything with the basketball, score it, pass it, rebound it and when he puts his mind to it he’s an above average defender. He can play 2-3 positions on the court AND guard them as well. He would be a better choice hands down. NOT to mention he’s an expiring.
Yeah I guess you’re right. I take back what I said about that deal. I’d love to pawn off Curry on them though.
Seems like the plan. If not this month with Mobley, next month with Lee, IMO.
curry wasnt in that deal.
I think theres a good chance that curry can end up in dallas… they wont be in position to have cap space next year on in 2011 and then could use a dominate inside presence, hopefulyl eddy continues to work hard because no question the guys an offensive threat in the post if he can return to form. i can see marc cuban taking a gamble. im not sure though who we would take back.
Only Josh Howard is a realistic option financially.
Is Cuban crazy enough to trade Josh Howard for Eddy Curry? Maybe with Chandler?
this kool aid is the best..
Why will Gallinari be a really good player (a star in my opinion)?
14.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.
He’s 21 years old and he doesn’t even have the opportunity (health? coach?) to drive like he used to in Italy. Think about it, his numbers are pretty good (similar to the 2008-2009 Wilson Chandler) and his game isn’t even diverse.
His stats are respectable because he’s one of the best shooters in the league. Granted he has to develop his midrange game and his ability to drive to the basket… but if he did that his stats would actually look better. He’s 21 years old, he’ll find a way to do it.
Agreed, and like every young player he has areas to improve.
Also, we can’t underestimete the time Gallo missed last year and the surgery. How long does it take to come back complete from that kind of surgery? Not just the pain, but the mobility. When I had mine the mobility felt like it took forever.
The back effects more parts of your body than a knee and if the recovery is like an ACL we are not gonna see a complete Gallo until next season. He’s only 39 games into his career and his shooting numbers are impressive for the lack of games, lack of playing time and shooting opportunities.
I think it’s funny that after a 55 point game there were some that had Jennings jacket fitted for the hall of fame but at the same time in looking at what the Knicks have how many 6′10″ players have come into the league shooting a 45%-45%-92% not even a half season of games into their career??
FYI..those numbers are better than Ray Allen’s career percentages. I know it’s not fair to compare 39 games to a full career and I’m not saying Gallo’s better than Ray Allen but at the same time I think it shows that Gallo has a higher possible ceiling than we realize. If this current team wasn’t built with so many ball dominant players (Nate, Harrington, Hughes) and if they actually ran plays for him you would see an even better Gallo in my opinion. A better floor general or a scorer who commands the double team would be ideal for Danilo to be more productive.
what flavor kool aid they gave u?
Great post!
ya boy gillinari has a BACK PROB
if u can’t see this then what are u watching he would drive the ball here an there but he knows he can’t do that 2 much with this prob
so he just shoots 3’s can’t hurt ya back shooting from deep..
nnuff said.
mayb he’s scared to take to the rim
scared of gettin hit an injured..
DId you see him take it to the rim for a attempted dunk on the Nets center??. He got stuffed but also got fouled and went to the line
DaGawD_KnowLedge…. nuff said??? Gallo HAD a problem with his back that was corrected with surgery. Aside from the stiff back at Indiana Gallo has said that his back is much better and that he isn’t feeling any pain!!! Stiff back doesn’t equal his back issues coming back!!!!
ANd did you see him take it to the hole again the Nets center??? He got it block but he also got fouled and went to the line
Fellow Knick Fans. I am speaking for myself when I say nice win. Umm we beat the winless Nets and we had to fight to do it when we had a decent lead. We beat the Pacers when they forgot that Granger was putting on a show. Yes its great that everybody got involved Gallo drove two steps in front the 3 pt line and Al did the Steve Smith stake through the heart routine. But again wake me when we beat the Celtics tommorrow or the Lakers on the road or the Nuggets. Then we have something to talk about and have the youngsters play major minutes in the process. I mean thats the reason we didnt get A.I. am I right Mr. Walsh? To me its nothing wrong with negativity but there is something wrong when we as Knick fans set the bar so low that we should stand and cheer when we beat the Nets. The team that I and I am sure yall grew to love played great D, half court game was grind it out nothing pretty and they knew they was one of the best teams in the NBA and wins like this was ok but losses to teams like this was not acceptable. So I can understand the positive side of the coin but I can definitely understand the negative. If the Knicks lose 4 in a row and get blown out and embarrassed by the Celts and Lakers lose to the Kings somehow and get smoked by the Nuggets what are we supposed to do, say it was expected? But if we beat the elite it would be a great feeling but we know we aint going to the playoffs much less the Finals and more than anything it would be fools gold becuase I can guarantee that the youngsters dont see major minutes over these next couple of games to develop and the players who are gonna play those major minutes are not going to be on the team next year so what are we really rooting for here?
LJohnson2k8…..What are we rooting for?? we want to win as many games to keep the Jazz from getting the 1st overall pick!!!!! That’s why you don’t give major minutes to the young guys. YOU BRING THEM ALONG!!!!!.. I think Knicks fans are missing the point. FOR YEARS it was said that we would allow a rebuild so along comes a competent GM (Walsh) and he starts to rebuild and you complain!!!!.. Gallo drove more tan 2 steps. did you watch the game?? Knicks played Granger tougher in the 2nd half plus he was in foul trouble and eventually fouled out. A.I. isn’t what he use to be. No one has picked him up and he wasn’t a hot commodity during the off season. More games we win then the better opportunity to show the youong guys more playing time.
steiker9….. Tomorrow Gallo might get into foul trouble in minutes or miss all of his shots but my point is that you have to let young players and rookie players develop. Gallo has played what??,,,, 40 games in the NBA?? and those 40 he played he played them in pain and with restricted movement so this is basically his rookie year and he already is averaging 14ppg. Let him develop his game. Nowitski had a horrible rookie season. He wanted to go home after his rookie year and not come back. But would you say that he is one of the best players in the NBA now?? And yeah!! Gallo will average 20ppg
ONe more thing. Those quick to trade Eddy Curry should calm down because he is one of few centers in the NBA now who can score and demand double teams in the paint!! I might be starting a war here but I say keep Eddie and rebuild with him, Gallo, Hill, Douglas and Landry. What do you guys think????
“keep eddy and rebuild with him” yeah maybe we should give him an extension on his fat contract..GO BACK TO BED!!!
i have to admit that it crossed my mind a few times that we could keep Curry and he will play well. Then I wake up. in order to win in the playoffs, the Center has to protect the paint. Curry looks to be the same ol Curry on the defensive side of the ball. He still lacks passion. I like Curry but i still think he is a nice guy and nice guys like him don’t protect the paint. Can’t win giving up lay ups.
A) what is the point of complaining after a win? If you are that much of a hater stop reading the blog.
B) i missed this game, and i am shocked to come on here and see people saying that DUHON played well. My god, if only i was watching; i need to see what that looks like. All i have seen from duhon is a fat, apathetic, pathetic excuse for a PG who has no game at all. I can’t believe he played well while i wasn’t looking, what an asshole.
C) Is it just me or is gallinari becoming more physically active as the season progresses? I know there have been one or two games where he kind of gets lost in the corner, but other than that, it seems like he’s coming along physically. He still hasn’t filled out yet, i really think there is a chance he becomes an incredible player.
D) I’ll be at the celtics game today.
E) The knicks are +9 at home… that is a joke, but the sad thing is that if i had the capacity to bet on a knicks game i would be inclined to take the celtics here.
F) Curry is going to help us tremendously… i wonder if coach will put him next to Lee?
G) Lee is a matchup NIGHTMARE for us, night in and night out. His offensive efficiency is impressive at times but the roll he is forced to play for us results in negetive net benefits, every single game.
H) I wonder if i could get to Z.
If Gallinari played on a more intelligent team oriented club, you would see a more of an all around game from him.
I can’t wait to see him next season next to one or two all-stars!
And who would have thought that Larry Hughes would be the teams best two way player to this point of the season.
If he keeps playing at this level, he could be a very tradable commodity come February, for an expiring and a nice draft pick from a contending team that needs more depth.
Saying that you want to see Gallo develop a more balanced game doesn’t mean you are a “hater” or a non Knicks fan. It just means you are thinking more in depth than the average fan.
I missed the game yesterday but aside from that game I would like to see Gallo drive more, be more agressive grabbing rebounds in the lane (he is supposed to be a PF no) and defend much much better. Wasn’t he supposed to be some European defensive player of the year? He keeps getting beat back door and looks lost on the defensive side. I would also like to see him move more fluidly on the court on D’Antoni run some pick and rolls with him.
But I am def more excited about his game than I was last year when he was on IR for the majority of the season. I think he can improve on those things but until he does you Gallo fans need to Chill on the Dirk comparisons. Its like last year when some idiots were saying Lee was better than Dwight Howard and a top 5 PF in the league.
Knicks4Life like I said above some Knick fans have set the bar real low. Its not hating if someone says anything negative about the Knicks in a win. How many wins do we have again? So what now, we are going to go on a 10 game winning streak all of a sudden. We didnt beat anyone of substance. Gallo played well but lets be real I wanna see his game against the Celts, I wanna see Lee grab boards and defend against Sheed and Perkins, I am watching for Duhon to keep up with Rondo or Hughes defend Pierce or Allen. I am only focusing on this game today becuase its a tape measure game. And Manners I dont know what you are watching but how do you say keep Eddy? Ok so he plays decent and teams are interested and you say no and he gets hurt and is out for the year, umm Walsh would be stoned by the media and fans alike. And how do the youth develop on the bench I may add? A.I. is washed up ok so what we have excites you? Ok Lebron or Wade is saying I just got to play with Chandler or TD or Gallo. IMO I see the handwriting on the wall. Wade is staying in Miami and Bosh will join him. Amare is staying with Nash in PHX and Lebron may come to the Knicks but he would want a secondary player of his choosing. Now if its possible to sign another all star player or trade for one then we got him thats my guess.
I may be the only one to think this, but what exactly is Lebron looking at in Cleveland that’s so enticing for the future. Mo Williams, JJ Hickson, Daniel Gibson, and Anderson Varejeao. Is that really that much better than what the Knicks could put together? Your talking about an overpaid #2 option who failed Lebron miserably in the playoffs last year, 2 career role players at best, and Daniel Gibson(I made all my shots in my rookie year and since I have gotten an extension I can’t shoot the ball anymore. honestly i think the Knicks are much better set up for the future than the Cavs. And its importatn to remember that Lebron has an insanely large ego, and Im pretty sure he doesn’t care whos on the team because he thinks if hes there they are winning.
