Gotta agree with itzy on this one, he’s not over rated and if we had the opportunity to draft him I’d do it in a heartbeat. Can’t find the link after some semi invested googling, but I remember a quote from James talkin about how wall is the real deal after seeing him play at LBJ skills camp…

Not to mention he IS the real deal (far as I can see anyways).

This is the most likely scenario in any deal for Tmac, and trading Jeffries is almost as good as trading Curry.

I highly doubt that Houston will take Curry even if we agree to ship Chandler, who doesn’t fit in their system.

Wow, really shortsighted. If the Knicks can offload Curry’s 2010 for the price of Harrington (and getting T-mac for the year), how is possible that signing AI even a consideration? Next year you don’t have AI (thank god) and no Curry (a miracle) and possible a top flight player along with two top 10 players. Doh.

The problem with believing any deal with Curry/T-Mac is that Houston is one of the best managed teams in all of professional sports. As such, they use a lot of advanced stats that would tell them that even at his peak, Curry was not that good.

Why would they want a player like him on the books for two years when T-Mac is gone at the end of the tear?

If Curry was actually a good player it might make some sense.

More likely might be Jeffries plus a few players for TMac. Even though Jeffies is almost useless as an every day player, he can be a useful role player in spots and his contract is not quite as bad.

I think we should wait for as long as possible to see if we can get rid of Curry’s contract without ditching Chandler.

The fact is, Curry still demands a double team in the post. Theres gotta be a team out there that could benefit from this.

I see this trade as a Curry salary dump. I’m not sold on T-Mac as an effective starter.

Possible Deal:
Curry 10.5M, Mobley 9.5M, Jeffries 6.5M=26.5M for
McGrady 23.2M, Barry 2.0M, and Dorsey 0.9M=26.1M

Positives:
Salaries close.

Houston gets a more traditional big to step-in for Yao; move Scola to 4. Curry and Andersen give better insurance policy in case Yao’s recovery is slow. Leaves Hayes, Anderson, Cook, etc. to fill more traditional backup 4 and 5 roles. Allows Houston to have greater frontcourt depth. Jeffries gives more depth and ability to guard 1s; Jeffries also an “intangible” guy that Houston likes. Expiring (in 2010) Jeffries and Curry may enable Houston to involve themselves in sign and trade for a guy like Bosh in offseason.

Knicks get rid of Jeffries and Curry, obviously. Barry can play three spots; Barry in final year of deal. Dorsey could be a poor man’s Oakley; very low cap figure; Dorsey, playing in D-League, overlaps with Hayes, Landry, so may be expendable in Houston’s mind.

Negatives:

Houston doesn’t get as much cap space in 2010 as hoped for. Putting Jeffries in may kill deal. Team salary in 2010 with Jeffries and Curry would put them in luxury tax zone. Curry may regress; Curry not a defensive guy, and Houston likes defensive guys.

Low probability of occurring. But possible, nonetheless.

Would Houston want Nate instead?

If Chandler HAS to go thats a bummer i think i’d rather trade Hill than Wilson.

Also for when draft time comes around :

John Wall is OVERRATTED

Trade Washington for there number 1st round pick Paul George is a stud in this system he would dominate.

I agree with you about Nate, what he does isn’t funny but plain stupid, and doesn’t it drive you nuts when he is all out on the court while he is on the bench during games, I love a player who cheers on his teammates but what is he doing standing in front of Dantoni. Cheer on your teammates as much as you can but respect the boundaries of the game. Nate’s antics are getting old and it hurts the fans even more that he has talent.
