I think there is a subtle difference between athletic ability/talent/skill and playing smart/well.

I don't think Rondo is the most athletically gifted or skilled PG out there, but as far as I am concerned, despite his shortcomings from the outside and the FT line etc.. he's the most efficient PG in the east. Basically, he contributes more to his team winning than any PG other than CP3.

Having great players to pass to probably helps his assist total at the margin, but it holds down other stats because he's not a primary option on offense.

Well Rondo almost averaged a triple double WITHOUT KG / WITH A SLUMPING RAY ALLEN against the Chicago Bulls in the 1st round series.

Rondo is 6'1, he's not significantly better - physically - than other point guards (Derrick Rose is stronger/taller yet Rondo was dominant against him - if game 1 doesn't count), he's just more aggressive.

To each his own though.

PS I think Westbrook will be rich man's Rajon Rondo. In 1 or 2 years Westbrook > Rondo.

On a bad team, would you rather have Rose or Rondo? Jennings or Rondo? Harris or Rondo? I chose the former in all three cases...

Duhon or Rondo? I kid...

Arenas is the most overrated point guard in the league imo, he's respected because he's a Rick Kamla type of player but - in fact - he's just an average point guard in my opinion.

Rajon Rondo schooled Derrick Rose in the 1st round series last year, despite Rose's CLASSIC performance in game 1.

Right now, I think Rondo and Jennings are the best PG's in the Conference.

I just think that the combination of a good handle and great physical abilities will lead to amazing stats for a PG on a team filled with allstars, but as a pure PG i don't think his skills are there yet. I think the best way to judge a PG is how he can control and game and lead an offense. You see CP3 and Deron doing this, but rondo doesn't even really have the chance to because of his team. I think if he needs to develop a consistent mid-range shot to be considered elite on that level. At this point, i see him as an extremely strong, tall, agressive, long, defensive PG with a really good handle.

Mucha; Rondo might be the best PG in the east statistically, but i don't think he is really the best point guard in the east. His steel numbers are amazing, and so are his rebounds for a PG. But the truth is he doesn't really have a great offensive skill set. he roams around the paint in circles and only shoots when he has a wide open layup (which he can create better than many guards because of his speed, but my point remains none-the-less.)

You have to consider the fact that he is playing next to an unbelievably talented group of players and he keep passing them the ball until one of them scores; that is clearly the reason for his high assist totals. I don't see him as a brilliant executioner on the pick and roll or anything like that, he's just physically better than all other PG's and his hall of fame teamates make him a lot better.

Do you think he would be as big of a deal if he was the PG on a team like... i don't know, the knicks?

Everyone is on here giving constructive criticism to the coach and the team (even though they probably don't read it). there is no reason to come on here with the same sarcastic condescending remarks about the coach over and over again. We all get it; he isn't perfect and neither are any of the players on our team, but it's enough with the sarcastic negativity already; it's getting really annoying. I don't recall anyone coming on here claiming D'Antoni is the best coach in the world, so unless you actually have something meaningful to say maybe you can drop the whole act at least for the remainder of the season. Nobody was even argueing about how good or not good the coach is, so you aren't responding to anyone but yourself, and maybe an article that was posted on here months ago. No one cares.

Lee said after the game that they all knew they had a foul to give but didnt have a chance to get one off...

i know it doesnt make sense, but they def knew about it so blaming the coach doesnt seem right.
