New York (3-13)

PG- Chris Duhon

SG- Larry Hughes

SF- Wilson Chandler

PF- Danilo Galinari

Notes:

If there was a game to play Darko Milicic, tonight might be it.  Even he probably won’t be enough to stop Howard and the Magic.

Jason Williams, who Donnie Walsh claimed off waivers over the summer, has played well since the injury to Jameer Nelson.  I guess the reports of him being in game shape over the summer were true, right?

Anyway, tonight will be a tough one for the Knicks to handle.  I see the Magic as the class of the East and favorites to return to the finals (based on what I have seen thus far).

Let’s go Knicks.

Gallo needs to expands his game. If he starts pump faking and taking it to the hole i thnik he can be unstopable because if u play him close he’ll drive striaght pass u and lay off of him he’ll pop it right in ya eye

  • JASONHAYES

    LOL Hack-a-Howard!

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Five more fouls and Howard is out of there

  • LJohnson2k8

Knick 4 life I hope you was joking about Gallo. He hasn’t done nothing beside shoot 3s and 2 dunks. And as of late he has been invisible. I don’t know how we gonna win tonite with the defensive and offensive firepower Orlando has. Let’s hope Hill gets burn against Howard.

  • Boots

Three guys standing on the arc, not involved in the offense. It is great that Lee has nine points, but let us get some involved, bvut then again they have to wait for someone to pass the ball. It is not just Gallo standing out there doing nohing.
    fo
Great Clyde, the knicks are shooting well, but it has to be more than Lee shooting.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

And that play at the end of the 1st quarter is a microcosm of this season. These are our Knicks.

  • Boots

Sorry about the crap typing tonight.

  • Boots

I could live with that mistake from a rookie, but Nate has been in the league for how many years?

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

And that is part of the microcosm – we are not playing the rookies – yet we are still 3-13. I would rather have one of the young players learn something this season that will pay off in the coming seasons and lose – then have a few close games against Boston and Denver w/ the veterans such as Harrington and Hughes having a good game.

  • LJohnson2k8

Nate is gonna be Nate. If I was on the team I would be sayin why did they resign this immature asshole. Seems like Gallo is very self conscience about hurting his back which is understandable.

  • Showstopper232

gallo’s gotta get more touches, more drives to the basket i hope his back is fine!
will started off pretty good buts on the bench! go knicks!

  • bartnyk

    TMAC TMAC!!!

  • bartnyk

Duhon never hits guys on the lane cuts when hes at the top of the key thats 2pts or a foul high percentage shot either way.

  • Knick4life

yea i think gallo has a lot of potential just give him a little time to develop and you will see when i first saw him comming out the draft i said he would be a baby dirk and i said B. Jennings was a A.I so i hope im right on both.

  • bartnyk

Gallo0 doesnt drive to get fouled

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Still no Douglas or Hill (shaking head).

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

And there at the end of the 3rd quarter is another microcosm of the Knicks season – Lee fails to get the defensive rebound – no defensive stop – Magic back up by nine.

  • Mucha

Nate is playing incredibly well but where the hell is Gallinari?

    I guess 7 shots 15 points isn’t good enough.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Jefferies playing over Hill (scratching head still).

  • Mucha

    ROTFL

    The NBA.

    Where Jared Jeffries happens.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

And the Knicks foul the wrong guy – Lewis instead of Howard. Ugh. And Gallinari makes a rare 4th quarter late appearance.

  • Mucha

    Face palm.

  • kkwik2211

2 straight games with no minutes from Douglas or Hill… good coaching mike.
also great defense in the 4th quarter tonight…

  • Mucha

Gallinari gets in when the game is over.

    Thank you Mike.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Fail down the stretch – no way to sugar coat it – just a bad loss – and again none of the rookies developed at all. Maybe Nate’s performance looks good for a contender out there and we can piggy back Jefferies onto a deal – seriously doubt it. I will take trading Nate to a team that would have a pick in the 17-25 range in the lottery – doubt that happens.

  • Mucha

At least our lottery pick is playing.

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

    the coaching sucks
    an the players suck

    end of story period

the real question is which is worse the players or coach..

    i’ll say 55 coach 45 players
cuz danni boy plan to win games sucks..

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

I know – I know. And now here come the Suns. What – just around this time last week – we pass on AI – not getting into it – only with their reason – it would hinder the development of the young players. That statement does not make sense given D’s lack of willingness to play them.

I worry that they are still buying into their mantra – try to win but w/in the parameters of 2010. I guess that’s all they can do – but develop the kids – forget winning. I would rather Hill learn something here against the Magic that will pay off in game 17 next season than watch Jefferies, Harrington, Hughes, Lee, Nate, and all of them not named Douglas, Gallo, and Chandler.

3-14 (1-8 at MSG I believe) – and we cannot give a team playing it’s four game in five nights a better contest.

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

can’t play a guy with a bad back too much..

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Nice – lol. But also sad and true. 3-14!! (my exclamation points show more emotion than most of the players on this team right now)

  • bartnyk

His Back is still bothering him and they wont tell the media

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

    lmao..

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

    ofcourse they won’t

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

the net’s might be without a win
but they are in a better position than the knicks
    for rebuilding..

all the knicks got is the 2010 kool aid an some stupid*** fans..

  • LJohnson2k8

Agreed DawGawd you can’t player with a bad back too much. But then why draft him knowing this? Can Gallo do anything beside shoot 3′s? Nate was great gettin his in a losing effort while I guess the rest of the Knicks wanted to go home. Hearin John Andriese on the radio he was trying to understand why Mike D haven’t played the young guys much yet. His thinking was Mike D figured he could steal a win from a Magic team playing their 4th game in 5 nights with the vets. Well if that was the reason the young guys didn’t play tonite then call me Rip Van and wake me July 1st because that was the dumbest thinking I ever heard. We can’t beat anybody.

Gordon and Jennings combine for 55 points as Knicks hold off Magic.

NY DAILY NEWS, NOVEMBER 29, 2009

The Knicks’ dynamic backcourt of Eric Gordon and Brandon Jennings drove circles around the aging counterparts of the Magic – Vince Carter and Jason Williams – tonight at the Garden. Jennings continued his streak of seven straight games with 20 or more points, going for 27 points on 11 for 25 shooting. His partner in crime, Eric Gordon, did him one better, shooting a cool 28 points on an excellent 13 for 20 shooting line.

“We were just in the flow, feeding off each other,” Gordon, the 20 year old sharp shooting phenom said, after the win. A win that brought the Knicks’ young season to a surprising 7-8 start. The strong start has lessened the blow of the fear that the Knicks will lose a high lottery pick to the Utah Jazz come June.

Mike D’Antoni praised his young and promising backcourt. “They just know what to do. They anticipate it each other. They’re really fun to watch. I’m glad I get to coach them.”

Making the night at the Garden even more interesting was buzz that Lebron James apparently watched the Knicks’ dynamic duo play Carmelo Anthony’s Nuggets on Friday on the television set – according to sources close to his camp. LeBron apparently uttered, “Now that’s a backcourt.” Could Jennings be feeding LeBron next year? Could LeBron be dishing it out to Eric Gordon for his sweet stroke?

Also making the rounds was Dano Gallinari’s season ending back surgery for the L.A. Clippers. Gallinari – almost a Knick until cooler heads prevailed before the 2008 Draft Lottery – has been plagued by back problems throughout his career – only playing in 25 games last season, while sitting out five of the ten games already this year. We have it on good authority that Donnie Walsh was seen uttering, “Good thing I listened to Realist_Knick_Fan and did not take Gallinari or Jordan Hill. And good thing I took DeJuan Blair with the pick I acquired from the Lakers. He’s going to be our sixth man of the future.”

The Knicks play host to the Suns on Tuesday night at the Garden. Game time is at 7:00. Tickets are not available because the game is sold out.

Am I the only one who wanted Nate off the court in the 4th quarter? It’s great that he was having a stupendous individual performance, but I cant help but feel like his style of play stops the Knicks offense cold.

NATE SHOULD NOT BE HANDLING THE BALL. When the ball is in his hands I feel like there is a 5’9 Z-BO on the court. No ball movement. No discipline.

Again, I know he scored like 20 points in the 4th, but no one else got involved because he is not a floor leader. When Nate is on the floor the Knicks must have either Duhon (even though I hate nate and duhon at the same time for defensive reasons) or Larry Hughes along with him, to chaperone him.

Someone said earlier that they hope the knicks package him and jeffries for a 1st round draft pick… No one wants jeffries and no one is gonna give up a 1st round draft pick for him and half a season with nate robinson.

  • EQ1217

I don’t know why people are complaining, at least the vets were able to get there minutes. Isn’t that the most important thing?

Seriously, real Knick fans care about the future of Duhon, Hughes, AL

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

    nice fantasy news.

  • Dave the Rave

They have gelled and are playing as well as possible and no one sucks in that 8-man rotation except for Jeffries. They’d be close to a .500 team and everyone would look better if they had a great center. If….

    …..maybe next year.

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

    now that’s real talk

i heard the samething coming from donnie an danni boy
i guess u got an inside source like i do

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

I said I would doubt it – but if a contender needs scoring off the bench and is picking in that 20-28 range – you never know – but again I doubt it. Why must you crush my dreams???

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Reality is setting as this is the best that Duhon can do – sorry no one is winning w/ him as starting PG.

  • Mucha

Nate Robinson had a great 4th quarter, the Knicks just couldn’t get stops.

Ball movement is futile if it doesn’t allow you to get buckets, Nate was hot – why pass the ball if you can’t miss?

I’d trade him to dump Jeffries in a second though.

  • Mucha

*David Lee voice* I’m dubious about that!

Maybe Jordan Hill will play a couple minutes before 2012 though.

  • LJohnson2k8

Never been a Nate Robinson fan, he is the human black hole like Al Harrington. He scored while the Knicks were down double digits and all by himself took his teamates out of the game even tho the game was over. And as far as the vets like I said in the past comments its nice to look out for the future of the vets, but what is Mike D tryin to prove or gain is beyond me. Umm memo to Mike half the team won’t be here next year so what’s the point we are not goin to the playoffs and if it wasn’t for the Nets we would be in last place in our own division. By the way Chandler and Gallo I am not thrilled about in the least. Tommy says that Gallo would be a great 3rd option alongside 2 star players, then why didn’t we take Brook?

  • Mucha

Nate Robinson scores 20 points in the 4th quarter and he’s a black hole? He took “his teammates out of the game”? Who? Chris Duhon and Jared 4th quarter Jeffries?

Come on. The game wasn’t over, the Knicks just couldn’t get stops. I’m not a Nate Robinson apologist but he had a great 4th quarter, period.

  • Boots

I had to wonder/laugh tonight pre-game PR spin when they were touting the vets and talking about How Harrington was trying to be a leader, while in my head I’m hearing D’antoni’s comments about Gallo needing to assert himself and be more demanding on offense.

Meanwhile an esteemed blogger here said there is nothing wrong with the system, and I realized that he is right. There is nothing wrong with it if you are willing to break it. Harrington is being a leader by driving and never passing it back out even when triple-teamed., and Gallo can be more involved with the offense if he is willing hog the ball more, drive into a double/triple team and force up a bad shot. while three or four team-mates stand there not being involved.

If the system is the thing, win or lose, stick to the system. If guys aren’t sharing the ball, pitching it out, and swinging it around rather than going one on one as soon as they get it, sit them down, vet or rookie . Don’t say breaking the play is leadership; that a player has to break the play to be more involved.

Or, maybe it is time to modify it a touch to suit the players’ skills. The couple of times they have (unconsciously?) run a posting/cutting offensive set, they have looked effective.

By the way, Gallo finally got the ball once tonight on the move, on the wing. 3pts. Once, but only once.

  • LJohnson2k8

Mucha you call Nate scoring 20 with the game over and the Magic working the clock and we still lost by double digits with Rashard, Howard and Carter kickin our butts good? Johnny Hoops said it best Nate is scoring by himself while the Magic has 3 players over 20 pts. So what does it mean in the bigger scheme of things? Remember Nate had a wide open Gallo and shot the the ball anyway and missed. Black hole like I said.

  • Boots

Have to agree with that. The Magic were giving him that 15-17 footer by the elbow over and over He’s got to take it and it is a good shot. No problem there. Only a problem when he or Duhon come down on the fly and hoist trey after trey without a rebounder in sight. This system makes offensive rebounding hard enough without taking a trey in traffic with four trailers and 20 seconds still on the clock.

I do agree with many that he should be working just as hard on defense as he does on offense, and I just don’t see the same level of intensity on both ends of the court. It would make up for tons of bad decisions on offense if he would move his ass on defense and get the ball back.

  • bartnyk

    Nate is a beast!!!

  • LJohnson2k8

He may be a beast but let’s see if the Knicks or any other team want Nate at the end of the year.
