Suns-Knicks Preview

Scoring has come easy for the Phoenix Suns with Steve Nash engineering the league’s most-prolific offense.

Considering its efficiency, the team shouldn’t have much trouble against the inept New York Knicks.

Nash looks to lead the high-powered Suns to a fifth straight win Tuesday night when they visit a slumping Knicks team trying to avoid losing its sixth in a row.

Phoenix (14-3) has raced to the best record in the NBA behind a potent offense that leads the league in both scoring (112.0 points per game) and field goal shooting (50.7 percent). The Suns shot 51.2 percent from the floor in Sunday’s 113-94 win over Toronto, and are averaging 119.0 points on 57.5 percent shooting during their four-game winning streak.

Phoenix now gets to take on New York (3-14), which ranks 28th in the league in defense, allowing an average of 109.2 points. The defense has been especially bad lately, yielding an average of 117.7 points on 50.8 percent shooting in the last three games.

This soft defense is a by-product of coach Mike D’Antoni up-tempo offense, which he has continued to implement in his second season with the Knicks after spending the previous five with Phoenix.

Under D’Antoni, Nash won two league MVP awards, but the 35-year-old point guard seems to be playing even better this season, averaging an NBA-high and career-best 12.1 assists.

“I wouldn’t trade him for any guard in the league, I really wouldn’t,” Suns coach Alvin Gentry said of Nash. “The way we play and what we want to do, he’s my guy. I wouldn’t trade him.” More…

  • pleasepleaseplease

Really looking forward to this game. I’m curious how this up-tempo offense is supposed to look like.

  • bartnyk

Eddy might be out again why don’t they get him a sweat suit like a fighter and put him in a sauna and get him down to 270 – 275 so his BAD knee doesn’t have to support so much weight.

  • JASONHAYES

If the sixers can resign A.I, can we let bygons be bygons and sign this guy back, I miss the guy already, he 10 times better than Duhon. Seems to have kept himself in shape too.

  • bockersORbriefs

oh I love it J-HAYES … and if Steph’s 10 times better than Du-NON now, he was 15 times better than him last year …. but D’Ant was the one who couldn’t let bygones be bygones & set the table for Steph going Taliban and eventually gulping vasoline …. B/T/W, watched some of GS-Pacer game last night and salivated at 4, count em, 4 PGs who are better than Du-NON …. Monta Ellis & Steph (no vasoline) Curry (we can’t get either of them) along with the initials boys – TJ Ford & CJ Watson … Donnie should look to grab one of them as FAs next summer … that is if he makes himself more familiar with them than he was with BJ3 !

  • bartnyk

Honestly Steph is a pass first guard that can score he fits Mike D should have made it work with him

  • HaS

LOL they ain’t ready for that. Sadly he’s more talented than anyone on the roster right now.

  • italian stallion

    Enjoyable video.

  • italian stallion

At least we’ll get to see how SSOL is supposed to be played. lol

  • Mal

I was on Hoopsworld and read this about OKC:

Don’t forget, Oklahoma City plays defense. The Thunder is fifth in points allowed at 94.23 per game.

I think that is awesome and it chaps my a$$ because that is a young team trying to get it done. What is our problem, defense is something you want to do and it comes from the coach on down. Scott Brooks gets it.

  • Showstopper232

Then the suns get detroyed by the Spurs, lakers, or nuggets! in the first round!

  • Mal

Maybe the Lakers, I think it would be good battles with the other 2 and maybe not so with San Antonio. Running teams have been giving San Antone problems this year. Then again I really dont care about those guys but I do monitor other teams to compare to my Knicks

  • bartnyk

can du du ever look to score jeeeeeezzz

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

    Classic Duhon turnover there.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Classic terrible foul there by Jared Jefferies on Steve Nash.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

On the flip side – good offensive rebound by Jefferies and pass to Harrington.

  • bartnyk

    yea

  • Mucha

    Dunks.

I thought they were illegal. I can’t believe what I’m seeing.

  • Mucha

Yes it was a great play.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

And a running dunk by Jared Jefferies – INCREASE THE TRADE VALUE.

  • bartnyk

Can we play the suns for the rest of the season

  • bartnyk

Hughes with 10 assist already WTF

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Suns mounting a little run and comeback – Dudley with aggressive rebounding there – Knicks standing around.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

bad bad bad – offensive foul by Al after he earlier let Dudley steal the rebound earlier – down 7 point lead

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Duhon should be fined by the organization for every 3 point attempt he takes and does not make.

  • bartnyk

    Suns announcer

    “This KNicks team will crumble”

    During commercial break

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

20 points by Gallo (secretly worried he disappears in the 2nd half). And the way Brandon Jennings is dishing to Gallo . . . oh wait.

  • bartnyk

Hughes should start he looks to score and pass

  • joeyballz

    Gallo

“I never play for myself. I play for my team and Mike”

Great great quote, his teammates should take heed and learn a lesson from this kid. He may not be the most athletic or the best defender but the kid has heart and he cares about the w’s and l’s rather than just padding his stats.

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

hughes runs the point better than any1 we have.

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

    bench duhon please

    send him to the d-league..

  • Showstopper232
  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

b.jennings is the new van exel

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

    word

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

    real talk

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Duhon should not be permitted shoot.

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

ellis been lighting it up since s.jax was traded

  • joeyballz

    Jeffries Rejuvenated

Can we please trade him during the Post Game Conference

  • Mucha

Hey Jeffries is actually playing REALLY well.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Donnie needs to compile a tape of Jefferies’ highlights from tonight and then send via e-mail to all the GMs in the league – at the very least Chris Wallace has to be foolish enough to buy into it.

  • joeyballz

Damn Gallo, showing FIRE, i cannot wait until we start centering the offense around this kid second half of the season

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

    Gallo w/ a dagger from deep – deep – deep – Knicks up 24.

  • joeyballz

Jared Jeffries second highest +/- on the Knicks at +23 only behind Hughes +29

  • Boots

Nice to see that the Knicks have varied their offense tonight. More cuts through the paint tonight than I seen all season combined.

  • joeyballz

Gallo is losing his legs, getting tired, he needs to come out

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Chandler had Gallo open on the wing.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Gallo with the rejection – Lee with the Dunk – Duhon w/ the drive and dish to Al – nice finish to the 3rd!!!!

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Still would like to see Douglas.

  • Mucha

    What a great performance.

Gallinari’s 3, the Lee-Duhon-Lee play and Harrington’s buzzer beater were BRILLIANT.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

    T-Doug w/ the THREE

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

There is a Jordan Hill sighting!!!

  • http://none knicks2win

I can’t believed the Knicks are winning.I hope they win this one.

  • JASONHAYES

D’antoni sitting there like ” Yeah im the guru of this system, you will not defeat me!”……lol

  • Jay2010

Why can’t we play like this every night? Were blowing out the best team in the league. This is crazy! Good game fella’s. Lets get the ball to Hill and c what he can do!

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Hill w/ the rejection – next to keep it inbounds and knock it to one of your guys – but love the athleticism.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

meant to say – next time keep it inbounds

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

    Great second effort by Hill.

  • jay zee

You guys talking about steph being better
    must be new fans.
    Steph was more disruptive then
    Clyde Frazier.

  • JASONHAYES

Just wanna know what you guys think, should Larry Hughes be part of the future? I think he’s proving so, don’t break the bank on him though.

  • KnickFaninMD

Nice all-around effort. The win capped off a series of tough opponents for which the Knicks played well.

  • Knicks4lyfe8

    HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

  • Bob go knicks

    ha ha ha

  • NoVaCaInE

With you 100% Steph should still be a Knick!
