Nate had little to no value as a multi-year contract but as an expiring this year he probably would have had some. D’antoni putting Nate in the doghouse for that long neutralized this value. He should have given him his 10mins. to keep him on team radars.

I’m sure Wilson Chandler checks theknicksblog everynight… man Will is BALLIN I can’t front. He used to make MANY bonehead plays the first 20 games of the season but he’s really playing well these days. He’s aggressive but he’s playing well within his limitations a la David Lee which is always a good sign. I like the fact that he tries to get into the paint.

Finally Toney Douglas is getting some minutes but I can see why D’Antoni gets frustrated with him. He is not a good orchestrator of the offense and at one point ran into his own man and forced a turnover by Jeffries.

With the Bobcats without Wallace the Knicks can’t afford to lose this game. I love the way the Knicks are attacking the paint against that soft Bobcat front line. D’Antoni must have read my post earlier today.

Bender looks great. A big man that can shoot the three (which D’Antoni seems obsessed with) but protects the rim on defense. Will his knees hold up for 65+ games? Probably not, but it was a gamble worth taking.

Wil just needed to get healthy. He had offseason surgery and you could see he was settling for the outside shot because he didn’t trust his own explosivness.

When everyone here was bashing Chandler and saying we should trade him for anything I was saying be patient. If we ever get a real PG in here that can help sapce the floor and do more things than run the pick and roll with Lee I think you’ll be very pleased with WIl’s all around game. The problem was not only the fact that he was settling for jumpers, but he used to make bonehead plays : lackluster D, stupid turnovers, ridiculous charges on 3-on-1 fast-breaks (obviously his shot selection)… he was really not playing well.

Well Chandler doesn’t have the highest B-Ball IQ so yeah he needs to play with a good/great PG to minimize the mistakes you speak of. Typically a wing or big man shouldn’t be making those decisions on a fast break but I’d have to know which plays you are talking about. Also, they had Wil playing the 2 guard early in the season when he has no handle (D’Antoni’s fault). That may have accounted for some of the turnovers too.

But no excuses here. He needed to play better and hopefully this game is the start of him helping to become a factor next to Lee and Gallo, especially with Al struggling.

Knicks can’t afford to lose this one.

Earlier in the season he got called for two offensive fouls on 3-on-1 fastbreaks – he went right at the opposing defender with a trailer and a player on the wing waiting to get the ball.

I’m going to admit I was wrong about something. Gallo is a much better shot blocker than I thought. He still gets lost in transition on defense and I hate his defensive footwork but I’ve seen him either block or distract at least 4 or 5 shots tonight (one wdidn’t count because of a travel but still). He is putting the ball on the floor, still showing a good percentage from downtown. Very impressed with his all around game.

I’ve been saying it since Harrington arrived, Chandler just can’t play with Al. He defers to him, becomes static and generally becomes useless a weakside player.

He does play much better with Gallo. Much was made of Gallo’s drive to the hoop late in Friday’s game, but nobody really commented on how Chandler set a big time pick on Gallo’s defender. It’s the little things that make them a team.
