Game Thread: Spurs at Knicks

The Spurs have not been quite as good as I thought they would be this year, most likely because Richard Jefferson has not lived up to his bill.  That said, I still consider the Spurs a contender out West.

Young players like George Hill and Dajuan Blair are helping this team win, but the fate of that franchise rests in the same place it has for the better part of this decade.  That would be in the hands of their big three, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobli.

Just as an aside, I always thought that Eddy Curry would be a good fit on this Spurs team from an offensive standpoint.  A deal between the two teams is unlikely as the Spurs do not have pieces to match up with Curry’s contract.  Just a thought…

Enjoy the game.  Let’s go Knicks!

I hope Gallo and Chandler start to put the team on their back and be responsible for wins its their team they have to play like it.

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

go jets give the colts there first lost go jets

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

ima turn into the knicks game now

basketball is my first sport so u know..

  • ds2488

Gallo is flat out balling right now. Too bad he turned into Chris Dudley at the line. Al sucks, but at least he is trying to blend into the offense. Still, he plays no defense as evidenced by getting caught behind that screen and not even trying to fight over it.

  • bartnyk

Bender is a waste of space not a game changer at all.

  • NoVaCaInE

Chuck em up Larry is at it again!!!

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

    lmao

  • bartnyk

    Harrington for Ty Thomas

Lee Plays no defense, you cant block Tony Parker or even challenge a shot really?? jeez

  • Mucha

    lol Jared Jeffries

He can’t make lay-ups, he loses his man on a regular basis and takes a 3-pointer with 5 seconds left on the game clock… And I thought the Spurs could have been interested in Jeffries lol. Untradable.

Jonathan Bender is a waste of playing time – he’ll soon be out of the rotation. Well I hope so.

Danilo Gallinari, David Lee and Al Harrington are playing well though. The other players will have to be more aggressive because they can beat the Spurs tonight.

  • LJohnson2k8

Wow I have been busy lately didn’t get a chance to see this game but from what I hear it don’t sound too good. To me the Spurs are old, even Tim Duncan is looking old. We have had that youthful pep in our step as of late so if we are not playing well then that would be really suprising.

  • Mucha

Jared Jeffries 1-9 FGA – loses his man on the defensive end and then hits the bottom of the rim on the following possession lol.

You know there’s a problem when Jeffries takes more shots than Gallinari anyways.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Duncan is starting to wake up – have a feeling he is going to go fundamental on us in the 4th

  • bartnyk

Jared jefferies can play on my team anytime get Bum ass Bender outta NY.

  • NoVaCaInE

Hughes is bumin it out there. Nate should be in…

  • LJohnson2k8

Now now bartnyk Bender has been the incredible spark that we needed in a couple of our wins. In the time he played he showed the toughness of Oakley and the jumpshooting touch of B. King and he has bad knees like Bernard did. (Sarcasm) this is why I don’t get crazy about these wins because we really haven’t beaten any great teams. And when certain players play well I don’t go crazy either way because they are what they are. I even read and hear talk about D Lee being in consideration for the all star team. We have to put down the Kool Aid and fast.

  • NoVaCaInE

Gallo has been siting for a long time

  • Mucha

Gallinari hasn’t taken a shot in the 4th quarter.

He was the best player on the floor (along with David Lee) and he sits 7 minutes in the 4th and doesn’t get the ball down the stretch. Mind-boggling. Nate Robinson would help too. I know we’re playing against the Spurs but still.

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

    knicks lost again

if the knicks had a good guard s.g or point they would be a much better team

nate could help but danni boy doesn’t like him so
    the knicks suffer
    plus doug didn’t even play

    danni boy
is the best coach of all time
the scapegoat at that the players suck an don’t fit his system
    which is bull
he just isn’t a good coach plain an simple..

if the knicks lose 5 in a row i win a easy 100 an if they lose 10 straight it’s an easy 300 for me go knicks..

  • Mucha

And then he takes a bad one.

  • JASONHAYES

I HATE CHRIS DUHON!!!!! HE CAN’T MAKE A LAYUP TO SAVE HIS FREAKIN LIFE!!!!

  • bartnyk

I dont want anyone to say David Lee had a good game I don’t know of any guy that can 28pts and 10rebs and have NO impact on the game at all. Lee is a complete system player PERIOD I can’t wait until he gets traded he makes me sick shows NO effort on the defensive end but smiles when he scores disgusting.

  • JLS125

Hate to say it, but David Lee is our best player and our go to player. This offense revolves around him. I don’t like it, but it’s true.

  • Mucha

The Spurs are better than the Knicks and this loss was “acceptable” but Mike D’Antoni’s coaching in the 4th quarter was… bad.

Gallo – who was the best Knick on the floor (with D-Lee) – sat 7 fuck*n’ minutes in the 4th quarter. I mean why? Mike D’Antoni never calls time-outs when his team is slipping, Greg Poppovich outcoached him (as usual) down the stretch in my opinion. But his team is just more talented, it’s not even close.

Lee, Gallinari and Harrington played well tonight. They were aggressive. Duhon did a pretty good job offensively but he couldn’t make a lay-up to save his life and his defense was atrocious. Wilson Chandler is such a waste of talent, he should be more active… and Jonathan Bender and Jared Jeffries were (are) useless.

But Lee, Gallo and Harrington played well.

  • Mucha

    lol exact same thought

  • Mucha

Nah he played well tonight, he played good D but he was just outplayed in the 4th quarter. Duncan’s a two-time MVP man… Lee kept us in the game.

His smile doesn’t look good though lol.

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

yes he is an the knicks only big trade asset

  • JLS125

do you think we unload him by the trade deadline?

  • ds2488

I completely agree with the sentiment that this is an acceptable loss. Its good, they tried hard and just couldn’t make shots. Gallo is beginning to really look like a legitimate star, and I don’t care about the impact on the game or the defense, 28 points on 13 shots is damn impressive by David Lee. He continues to be great, and it was good to see Harrington back. The truth of the matter is that no matter how well Lee, Gallo, and Harrington play, the rest of the team just flat out sucks. Duhon and Jeffries have no business playing the minutes they do, and Dantoni continues to be so damn stubborn and unflexible with his rotation. If Hughes and Duhon are sucking, then play Nate or Douglas. If Jeffries and Bender are sucking, then play Jordan Hill. Its simple stuff, and Dantoni needs to begin to adapt to situations when his circle guys aren’t playing well. Again, tough to really blame him that much though. Does anyone think the Knicks have nearly as good a team as the Spurs or Heat. No they suck, and at least they are putting in the effort these past 2 games, just can’t hit shots.

  • Mal

I want to see Bender get Jeffries minutes and the ball given to him in the spots Jeffires gets the ball and doesnt finish in the paint, it gets soo old watching his weak ass attempt shots in the paint and not finish or get blocked or double pump at 6″11

Mike D is a terrible manager in player’s minutes

  • Mal

Duhon is garbage and needs to come off the bench but then he might start acting out, going to Duke games during Knick games, getting on the sauce prior to game etc

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

    for the rite price yes
but since he’s an expring i don’t think we going to get a good draft pick for him might get a good player with a big contract

    i like lee
    but for the rite price
but i think him an his agent will ask for 2much
