As for D’Antoni system being brought here. I could surely live with that if it had attention to DEFENSE added with it.

That’s all many of us are saying. We like Offense but NOT at the expense of making defense an after thought. Besides we don’t have the b-ball IQ to run a pure D’Antoni system.

As for this year, I always saw this season as a 36-46 year. I didn’t expect the lousy start, but am surprised by their latest run. To be honest, the playoff talk annoys me because if I ran the show, I would be playing the rookies and young guys more. However, with that being said, there is the argument of putting a good product on the court for free-agent recruitment (and the fans).

Having watched the Knicks from the 80′s, I would die for a pure D’Antoni system here in NY. The fans would revolt since they cling to the defensive mindset of the 90′s, but the ball D’Antoni coached in Phoenix was amazing. Nevertheless, I understand his adjustments here in NY. He just doesn’t have the personal to run it like he did in Phoenix. Maybe next year. We’ll see.

You’re right that there is no one who enforces in the paint (although Gallo’s weakside D, as well as his ability to man up, ae underrated). Lee is not the long term solution at C, not if the Knicks don’t want guys like Raymond Felton torching them when it counts (two games and counting this year). But that’s not bad coaching. That’s just a lack of talent right now.

My definition of resurgence is different than your, so grow up and get over it. I have no rose colored glasses on when it comes to the Knicks. I don’t see this them as a playoff team, although since they are playing in the weak East, anything is possible. What I do see though is a different attitude throughout the organization. Teamwork on the court and off. I see this team lift out of its long term slump. I see optimism for the future. Simply put I see progress. To me that is a resurgence. Like it or not, I will acknowledge their improvement in the short term, but expect a lot lot more in the months and years to come.

He is just the wrong coach for New York. I would not have hired him and was asked who I would have considered if not him…

I offered a name that was probably not interviewed.. im not sure if Walsh took the time to interview anyone but D’Antoni and maybe Mark Jackson.. That is unacceptable.

Larry Hughes is not playing well enough to get minutes either. He’s a liability from a pure basketball standpoint, period.
