Official Deadline Thread

by Tommy Dee on February 18th, 2010 at 1:18 pm

Update 2:28-

High level source confirms Hill is in the deal the picks have level of protection and NO pick in return for Nate. Boston held firm knew that Nate and the Knicks were separated. It’s Nate and Marcus Landry for House, Giddens and Walker. No real info but Harrington is still in play…not sure if Walsh is done.

1:19- McGrady to the Knicks is done says Marc Stein…

“…T-Mac and Sergio Rodriguez to NYK; Kev Martin/Jared Jeffries/swap of 2011 first with Knicks and 2012 first from Knicks to Houston AND Kings get Carl Landry, Joey Dorsey and Larry Hughes‘ expiring contract . . . all just filed to ESPN.com. Link coming momentarily…Sources say Houston gets Kevin Martin, Jared Jeffries, right to swap first-round picks with NYK in 2011 and New York’s first-rounder in 2012

11:45- Nate- “This is a sad day for me as well but I have tears of joy I accomplished something no one has done, 3X slam dunk champion! Thanks to my fans…Love yall for the support over the years, since my rookie year my fans have made it EZ 4 me to LOVE NYC the best place on earth word aapp…”

RicBucher-Sources say Cha is likeliest destination for Bulls’ Ty Thomas right now, in exchange for expiring contracts. Flip Murray/Acie Law works.

10:51

Tellem also represents Gallo, he knows the Knicks need cap space. No official deal has been made in terms of Martin-Houston as we speak.

10:30

great point by Woj…Best chance T-Mac to Knicks happens? Pressure power agent Arn Tellem can/will put on Sac, sources say. He reps Tyreke, plus more on team..

9:00 am

After about 3 hours of sleep it’s time to get back after it.

The latest has the Celtics now possibly being involved..

“…Mcgrady deal could indirectly be linked to knicks-celtics deal. A player from kings could be headed to boston…”

At 4pm yesterday it appeared, from what I was told, that the Knicks had worked out the particulars to move Nate, and the team would receive a first round pick in return. With the deal now expanding that may have changed, but we shall see.

It’s going to be crazy from now until 3…and make no mistake, this is huge deal for this franchise any way you slice it.

  • NoVaCaInE

Now my head is spinning lol. Ima just leave my pc and come back on at 3/4 PM.

  • Jmerms

    Come on Donnie.

    Knicks get:
    T-Mac
    S-Rod

    Sac get:
    Jared Jeffries
    Hughes
    Hill and Picks

    Boston:
    Player to be named
    and a pick?

  • traps9

If we don’t clear cap, I’ll obviously be royally pissed, but……. This is fun.

  • http://www.reeltalkblog.com Shakespeare

HUH??? now i’m reallllly lost….lol….4-team trade???

i wonder who we’ll be losing out on…s-rod or giddens???

  • JASONHAYES

What the hell is going on? Donnie you need to do something! This is make or break day for you. What is the hold up? Forget the pick, let it go, if that’s what the hold up is. You’re planning on being a better team anyway, right? That’s what you been telling is fans for two years. So if that isthe case let o of the 2012 pick. Get things done!
    Nate deal isn’t done!
    Tmac deal isn’t done!

What are you doing? I’m hoping that you show us what you’re made of, and hopefully it’s greatness. But right now you look real shaky, and the garden maybe calling for you and D’antoni’s head real soon. Get it done!

  • bgstunna

Donnie, lets get it done. We need to clear this cap

  • BiggieSmalls

maybe K Mart winds up in Boston and Nate in sacto..

I want to walk away from today with JJ gone.. Hill gone.. Nate gone..Lee gone(wishful), Buckets gone, Hughes gone

and S Rod, McGrady, Ty Thomas in blue and orange…

    wake me up at 3pm

  • BiggieSmalls

Walsh better have balls that big (in the pic) and pull this all off.

  • NoVaCaInE

    +1

  • NoVaCaInE

    Pause! LMAO!!!

  • http://www.counterpunch.com/ krumbledkookie

Don’t trade Nate. Especially if it the trade is for Eddie House.

That would make NO sense at all.

The rush to acquire all these expiring contracts is gonna be funny, in retrospect, after the coming off-season is over and the Knicks don’t have Lebron, D-Wade, or Bosh, and are paying hot-dog vendors to get on the court.

  • flanz0

    krumbledkookie,

Why keep him? He’s going to be gone after this season anyway, so why not get a pick that we could use to get someone else? There’s no sense in keeping Nate unless you want to watch him thump his chest after hitting a 3 to pull the knicks within 16 points with 4 minutes left in the game.

  • BigDaddybluesman

this is huge deal for this franchise any way you slice it.

    You’re kidding right?

In what way? Like this really means anything. It would be nice to get rid of JJ and his contract and get a #1 for the Nate deal to use for a later trade.

But this team is so far away from being any good that anything done today is minor surgery.

  • theknicks120

    Knicks get
    S-rod
    T-mac

    Celtics get
    Nate

    Kings get
    Landry
    Dorsey
    hughes

    Rockets get
    Kevin Martin
    Jeffries
    1st round pick (celtics)

  • flanz0

It’s a huge deal because we’re one summer from being instant contenders (assuming things go to plan). Today goes a LONG way towards making that big summer shopping spree a reality.

  • JASONHAYES

    5 HOURS TO GO DONNIE!!!

  • gdaibes

ITS THE BIG DAY BOYS [Second biggest to summer 2010]. Hopefully when I get out of class today I can come home to a brand new roster with cap space. Lets go Donnie. MAKE MOVES.

“Let’s change the way we eat, let’s change the way we live
and let’s change the way we treat each other.
You see the old way wasn’t working so it’s on us to do
    what we gotta do” -2pac

  • giantg

Ha. You mean its a “procedure” and not surgery? I can definitely see your point, however the Knicks have had so few opportunities (outside of the draft – don’t want to go there) to make any beneficial changes recently that any deadline induced motivation for teams to talk trade with Donnie presents potential upside. Just the thought of getting a draft pick, dumping a salary, getting another point guard or moving disgruntled vets seems like Christmas.

  • fredweis

I’m guessing Walsh is trying to include the Nate trade since the BYC is a pain in the ass to match salaries with.

I was/am looking for to getting JR Giddens in a Nate trade. This kid can be a scorer.

IMO best scenario has us getting TMAC, Sergio Rodriguez, JR Giddens and Shelden Williams. Then swapping “Small” Al Harrington for Ty Thomas.

The big prize is we get a look at TMAC, and the cap relief.

But Sergio, Giddens, Williams and Thomas are all young players looking to prove their previous team(s) wrong. I like all of their potential, and they all bring different things to the table as far as skills.

  • jvnyk

If a four way along the lines described above were to be completed it would be a major coo by DW. Sounds a little too good to be true to me though.

  • josh108

    Changes…classic haha

but foreal let’s go Donnie, I really really hope I’m not gonna be pissed of come 3 pm…

On another note I really hope we get Ty Thomas to be a part of our future, I really like the guys style of play. He’s hi energy, shotblocking, running the floor, and is extremly atheletic.

  • http://www.counterpunch.com/ krumbledkookie

Well, I don’t want him gone after this season. He’s dynamic, and most importantly, fun to watch. Who else on the Knicks is fun to watch, besides Nate and David Lee? (Wilson Chandler is alright, I suppose.)

I just don’t care for the supposed fact that Lee and Nate won’t be around next year. They’re the only reason I’ve watched games over the last 3 years. All that time invested in watching these guys grow to be good players goes right down the drain, for what? To make a run at Lebron, that in my estimation, will end in failure.

  • fredweis

Donnie is so Godfather ghetto pimp in that picture. Do it Donnie!

  • Cheech

this seems most realistic. we give up nate to boston, who sends thier first rounder to houston. so its like trading nate instead of jordan hill. im cool with that.

if all we have to give up is hughes and nate to get rid of jeffries…donnie would be the man

  • DwaneT

Getting House is good because there is no guarantee that we’ll get Sergio yet, and McGrady won’t be ready for long minutes right away. At least this way we can have a guard who is a three point threat on the pick and roll to get practice in running that offensive set for whatever young players we keep. Even coming off the bench he’s better than Duhon. It’s still not too late to pad some more players stats for the summer trading season. 2010 – the beginning, not the end.

  • BiggieSmalls

remember that trading him doesnt mean he cant come back next year.

  • flanz0

I, for one, love watching Wilson Chandler 1000000x more than Nate. Chandler is a real basketball player. Nate is little and can dunk, how exciting! Yeah he’s charismatic and can fill it up, but he’s a bonehead. He doesn’t listen and does stupid things alllll the time. So if it takes moving Nate in order to get a pick that lets us dump Jeffries? Count me in. Even if we miss out on Bron, this move opens up a chain of events that let us bring in two big time FA’s (or keep Lee and bring in another).

  • flanz0

    Unfortunately, we’ll still have Duhon…

  • ds2488

Ok DW, today’s the day. We better come out of this with a changed team, preferrably with JJ’s Isiah contract gone. Lets wipe out the stink from Zeke’s glory days, although we will still have Curry on our roster. Well, I guess we will have Wilson too, one Isiahs only good moves ever. Thanks Zeke. DW, get this done without getting ripped off and I will forget all about you not getting a backup pg for 2 years. Please.

  • josh108

    Damn I’m kinda gettin impatient…

I really want the moment to come when I reload the knicksblog page and see a headline article reading “tmac to the knicks, jeffries gone, and al for Ty Thomas”…

    That make my week!

  • trenttucker

So, in two days, we will ahve gone from:

    leaving Knicks:
Nate, Jeffries, Hill, 2012 1st, 2011 swap, Hughes

    joining Knicks:
    T-Mac, Brian Cook, Joey Dorsey

    to

    leaving Knicks:
    Nate, Jeffries, Hughes

    joining Knicks:
    T-Mac, Sergio

    Keep dreaming, my friend.

  • young hova

    Hopefully it means he won’t

  • NoVaCaInE

DwayneT welcome. Now we have most of the Newsday crew here. (Hopefully you know who stays away)

I agree the House addition is good in a sense that it will add more outside shooting. Isn’t this move a little late though? If it was a salary dump to clear additional 2010 space I could see it, but moving Nate at this point in a lost season seems pointless to me. It’s obvious No D’Antoni forced Walsh’s hand.

  • belikmike23

The lack of news is killing me! Is no news good news??

  • NoVaCaInE

    *DwaneT

  • belikmike23

Chad Ford is saying that the Bulls-Bucks trade isn’t exactly clear. Not necessarily Kurt Thomas and Elson for Salmons, could be Warrick and Joe Alexander instead.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nba/news/story?id=4922618

  • belikmike23

Yes I know that had nothing to do with the Knicks. Helped take my mind off the Knicks for a minute though.

  • flanz0

If it nets us a first rounder we can use to dump Jeffries, that’s where you’ll find the point in the trade. If not, we traded a shoot-first small shooting guard for another shoot-first small shooting guard.

  • woohitter

    @Theknicks120

That trade makes no sense for the kings, the Knicks would still have to send a first to the kings in that deal and Eddie house would have to go to the Knicks.

ESPN and all the sites have said that the structure for the Knicks trade is so far done that it almost is sure to happen. I think that Hill is being kept in this scenario:

Rockets get the Celtics pick (along with K-Mart and the rest of the junk)

Kings get the 2012 lottery protected and the switch option next year

    Knicks get T-Mac and Sergio

Since the trade is already completed with the Rockets/Kings, the Knicks really aren’t going to give Houston anything except for what it would take to get Sergio (which honestly the Celtics late first round pick seems like more then enough)

Tracy Mcgrady is a buyout candidate for the Kings, he would eat into Tyreke Evans touches the same way Martin was. I think the Knicks would ship Duhon to the Kings to be the pass first PG to distribute and run the offense for the rest of the season along with jeffires and Hughes to whomever along with the 2012 maybe unprotected if it kept Hill.

    I am very interested

  • josh108

    That would be awsome!!!

  • rocky

lack of news likely means they are all too busy to leak info to
    the bloggers and shnoggers

  • flanz0

Um…How do the Knicks get T-mac without trading a single player other than Nate?

  • http://www.counterpunch.com/ krumbledkookie

I’ll sacrifice Nate if it means we can keep Lee, because you’re right, Nate does do dumb things all the time. I keep holding on to hope that he’ll mature a little bit, as he has (a bit) thus far, but the process seems to be goin a bit slow. What I’ve heard though, is that this is to get him out of D’Antoni’s hair, which is a huge fail to me.

It’s got to be about more than that, right?

  • bbaakk06

Tommy how about this…truly think it makes some sense for both sides:

Nate, Harrington, Jeffries, unprotected 2011 1st rounder

    FOR

    Ray Allen & Brian Scalabrine

i think Boston would seriously consider this. Run this by the authorities! thanks

  • belikmike23

Here’s a site with trade updates, like TKB. Not just dealing with Knicks, but the whole league. Also updated quite often. I’m not downplaying the great work done here on TKB or trying to turn anyone away from TKB, I just figured, much like I’m sure Tommy does, you may like to look at other places for info as well.

    http://sprungonsports.com/

  • BiggieSmalls

Nate and Lee are completely unrelated.. the numbers are very different for both obviously..

    And i dont want Lee!!

  • flanz0

I hope it’s more about getting that draft pick to sweeten a Jeffries poo-poo platter, but Nate’s antics drive D’Antoni insane, so I wouldn’t rule out him being traded just to relieve D’Antoni of his biggest headache.

  • trenttucker

Knicks can’t trade their 2011 since they traded their 2010.

    Oh, and…

Boston would never, ever, ever, ever, ever do that.

  • Kwayry

Kings were asking for a trade exception for Sergio a couple of days ago, no way he is worth a first round pick.
I am glad you are not the GM.

  • trenttucker

Nice one. Looks like Arn Tellem is our biggest asset right now.

  • Dave the Rave

3 hours and counting! Dump em Donnie! And throw in Eddie Curry while yer at it!

  • http://www.reeltalkblog.com Shakespeare

lol, u guys are funny….what’s good fellas…..he’s already starting to trash isola’s blog on the daily news website…lol….but hey u neva know how the chemistry will be w/ nate/al/hughes/jj out the locker room…we may go on a roll, we need a couple 3-5 game win streaks n we’ll be right back in the playoff hunt….ESPECIALLY W/ WADE HURTING N POSSIBLY MISSING A CPL GAMES…..

  • DatNewYorker

I agree BiggieSmalls I don’t want Lee either and he can take D’Antoni with him. Donnie’s job is not complete until he fires the coach. So take that, Tommy Dee or should I say The Educated Tommy Dee.

  • bbaakk06

you sure? boston has been intrigued by Nate for over a year now…switch the 2011 1st round picks and give em our 2012 first rounder…i think Boston would have an interesting offer…

  • DatNewYorker

Donnie should try to trade D’Antoni since he has been on a roll. He should trade Tommy Dee also while he is at it. HAAAAAAAAAA LOL

  • http://www.reeltalkblog.com Shakespeare

AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN’T GET ANY WORK DONE AT WORK, AND KEEPS REFRESHING EVERY SINGLE BLOG OUT THERE?????

  • NoVaCaInE

I’m not surprised. He was actually here for a short while but got pushed away lol.

Wade’s injury might hurt Miami’s chances but the Knicks still have to jump over 3 teams with 30 games to go. The Knicks have only one month over .500 this season.

  • BigDaddybluesman

Well cutting out a little tumor seems like surgery to me.

  • swtnes34

Here’s what is amazing to me…all the bitching and positioning by the Rockets with the draft picks for taking Jeffries then they turn around and backstab us to take on Martin’s ($9.5/4yrs.) and Niconi’s ($7.5/3yrs.) contracts, and no picks asked for (at least unaware of). Screw Morley! Explain that Tommy…if you can!

  • NoVaCaInE

You better hope your boss doesn’t have access to this blog lol.

  • DVJ

    Stay Patient My Friends

  • flanz0

It’s D’Antoni’s fault he’s stuck with a roster of uninterested & uninspired veterans coupled with young players not ready to step up and be stars? Yeah, BURN HIM AT THE STAKE!

  • josh108

    Haha lmao…

I’m in class a day and have two tests, I will most likely he failing both of them. Let’s hope a goes as planned…go knicks!!

    Get it done Donnie!!!!

  • DatNewYorker

Yeah, BURN HIM AT THE STAKE!

No I’ll take my D’Antoni flame broiled. This coach stinks and your evaluation of him stinks also.

  • http://www.reeltalkblog.com Shakespeare

OMFG, did u guys read this $hit????

    http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/64833/20100218/bulls_involved_in_houston_sacramento_talks/

if this goes thru, we’ll lose out on mcgrady, and tyrus thomas….. :(
n only end up w/ eddie house after today….fkn bulls, back the fk up bitches..lol…fall back, n let us get mcgrady, n we’ll be MORE than happy to take tyrus off yours….

  • http://www.reeltalkblog.com Shakespeare

lol, u ain’t eva lie….he actually does business w/ the knicks and john starks…lol, soo i hope not…..dbt he has the time to read all this ish…LIKE WE DO… :)

  • DatNewYorker

DAntoni hand picked Duhon and started him 48 games staight and counting. Trade coach D’Antoni Trade Tommy Dee, Trade Flanzo, Trade JJ, Trade Duhon andTrade the darn ball boy while you at it.

  • Jack D

all those articles with the Knicks “almost a done deal.” what crap. i’ve said it before, everything is pure speculation until something definite happens

  • young hova

    I’m hearing Thomas to Bobcats

    http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/view/11838893

  • young hova

Looks like the was before the deal was done, because the Salmons deal and the Martin/Landry swap kinds of ruin the Bulls getting involved

  • flanz0

I didn’t know a single sentence summary of the horrendous situation he’s in is an evaluation. Duhon is gone this year, D’Antoni clearly doesn’t want to play him, but does because his other option is……………

    ………….

    …………

    …………Oh, there isn’t one. That’s DW, not D’Antoni.

  • http://www.reeltalkblog.com Shakespeare

wow, if that’s tru, i’d be DEEPLY depressed, i actually want thomas more than mcgrady, he’ll fit in the system better, and possible can be a piece down the road…..IT SEEMS THIS DAY MAY END UP FKN BLOWING FOR US, n donnie will hit us w/ people were asking too much, blah blah, we didn’t want to give up future picks (THAT WILL END UP BUST NEWAY) n (a bum like) Hill, soo he can be the next coming of mikki moore…..GOOD FKN CALL… :(

  • DVJ

    Hey Shakespeare

Would you like us to make the deal with our picks unprotected?

  • Diego

Tommy, what about DARKO MILICIC to Minnesota? Is that true?

  • young hova

    further proof

    Woj says:
“Sources say that Knicks-Bulls talks on Tyrus Thomas trade have lost traction. “A long shot now,” one official says.”

  • vitony

This day is going from bad to worse. First I go to bed last night with things close to being done for McGrady to NY with Jeffries gone. I fully expected to land Thomas today and now not only are we not going to get the second max contract money we are not going to get an athletic stud who is 24 yrs old to help build around. We are about to get stuck with our dicks in hand thanks to a reluctance to not protect a pick 2 years from now when we should be a playoff team anyway if Donnie trusts his “plan”

  • young hova

Berman who I barely trust says:

“Arn Tellem tells me 3-way talks ongoing between Knicks-Rockets-Kings and could well be the same Knick players involved without the picks.”

I can’t believe that is possible

  • Jack D

    this is stupid

  • vitony

Ok if its the same players then Donnie needs to pull the trigger on the Bulls deal for Ty Thomas now before he goes to Charlotte. If we lose Hill and dont get back Thomas then it is a bust.

  • DinnerDog

I am nervous. Why would the Kings trade KMart for cap space and a young player and then trade that cap space immediately away for Jordan Hill? Who plays the same position as Carl Landry. Doesn’t make sense.

  • starksoakmase

“Forget the pick, let it go, if that’s what the hold up is. You’re planning on being a better team anyway, right?”

OMG, that is exactly what IT was saying when he traded for Marbury and Curry. Have you learned nothing?

The hold-up is that Donnie is not going to panic and make bad deals. Hopefully he has worked out a way to keep Hill and/or picks.

  • CircleLimit4

Could the Wizards take on Jeffries? Do they have interest in Hill/Douglas/picks?

  • http://www.reeltalkblog.com Shakespeare

I WOULD LOVEEEEEEEEE TOOOO……answer me this….Is hill or anyone we’d draft in what should be in the 20′s of the 2011 n 2012 drafts better than mcgrady or tyrus thomas???? UMMMMM YEA I THINK NOT……..need to fkn stop acting like the damn twolves n start thinkin like boston n la….FKA DRAFT PICK….

ARE WE PLANNING ON HAVING THE FIRST PICK NEXT YR OR 2012??? I FKN HOPE NOT…..this is the way dw is acting…..

GREAT NOW WE’RE GOING TO BE FKN STUCK W/ AL/HUGHES N FKN JEFFRIES….N ONLY HAVE EDDIE HOUSE TO SHOW FOR IT….

DONNIE SHOULD GO JUMP OFF THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE For THIS ONE….

I WILL FKN BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO THESE BUMS ANY FKN CHANCE I GET…….

OO YEA….N NOT TO MENTION NOW WE CAN’T AFFORD 2 STARS….FKN AWESOME MOVE DONNIE….gd call…

  • starksoakmase

I like ty too, but from what I hear from Chicago is that he takes games off. Doesnt always show the same effort. He needs a leader like LBJ to keep his energy up for every game.

  • vitony

Donnie needs to get Chicago to agree to the Al Harrington deal first. Even if we dont move Jordan Hill, oh well, then we have Ty Thomas and Jordan Hill, a starter and a backup.

This should have been the first thing Donnie did this morning once Salmons was dealt and the Bulls were out of T-Mac.

  • josh108

    I’m getting depressed…

Hopefully my mood changes by 3 o’clock

  • CircleLimit4

Yeah it also doesn’t make sense that Housotn would give up Landry AND Dorsey along with TMac only to take on KevMart’s contract. Geoff Petrie ftw on this one.

  • flanz0

    I second that.

  • Jack D

    +3

  • giantg

If Chicago, as is being reported, gets a future #1 pick from Charlotte for Tyrus Thomas, I hope Donnie gets a future #1 from Boston for Nate or things might not look too savory in tomorrow’s papers…the fan excitement pendulum keeps swinging…only yesterday Donnie was looking like he was going to be called a “hero” for being in the position of offering 2 max contracts this summer yet today with all the cheap dumping going on (LAC, Chicago) and the Knicks still seemingly without a dump deal…might Donnie, despite all his patience, connections, savvy and experience be getting the “goat” tag?

There is stil nearly 3 hrs to go but the trade deadline is starting to feel an awful lot like the 2009 draft – High hopes but when the dust settles, nothing looks half as good as you had hoped.

    Hope I am wrong…

  • JASONHAYES

Less than three hours left! Donnie I hope your working up something big, you are eerily quiet right now! You already lost T. Thomas!

  • vitony

According to Yahoo!.com the deal with Charlotte and Chi for Ty Thomas is done, with Chicago getting Acie Law and Flip Murray and a first round pick and Cha getting Ty Thomas.

  • http://www.reeltalkblog.com Shakespeare

    +4 :(

  • Knicks4life

Ty Thomas is not the answer.

Kid is a freak athletically but his work ethic, attitude, and approach to the game suck.

I would NOT want to build my team around Ty Thomas.

  • Knicks4life

    Aren’t the Wiz shedding salaries?

  • Knicks4life

    Great deal for Chicago.

They should also try to move Hinrich.

  • BiggieSmalls

    100%

no pick for Nate is unacceptable

  • BiggieSmalls

    strike one for Donnie..

Acie law and Flip Murray are going to help Chicago?

Really? more than Al Harrington? Most Chicago fans were supporting getting Al as they Need an offensive focused front court player ,

  • giantg

Gar Heard/Paxson dump a 2010 contract for free and get a #1 pick for Tyrus Thomas. Gotta give them an “A”

Dunleavy dumps two contracts 2010 worth 5+mm for free. Have to give him an “A” – Did I really just write that?

Micheal Jordan gives up a #1 pick for Tyrus Thomas, have to assume he is going to pay the 6.25 million q/o next year…Would give him a C- which could rise to a C if Thomas is a factor in the playoffs or a D if he isn’t. If he doesn’t keep him in 2010 it gets an F-

John Hammond gives contract relief to Chicago for Salmons but gets ZERO draft picks. Have to give him a C- here as well. Does he really think Salmons is the missing piece who is going to make them a contender this year or next? C’mon John if you are going to screw NY as least make Chicago pay the going rate…

    tick tick tick

  • trenttucker

Chicago didn’t want to help the Knicks in any way. They’re going after the same guys.

  • BiggieSmalls

    chicago is going after Wade.

we dont need their help.. they needed to clear Ty Thomas and get a player back who will help this year and work cheaper next

I dont think Acie law or Flip murray is that person.

So now that Sacto has McGrady Donnie should slam that door shut and NOT deal with Sacto.. they are going to cut him anyway..

  • BrooklynsFinest1

Wow T-Mac is in Sacramento and the Knicks are trying to get him from the Kings, but I just heard that the Kings want David Lee. Boy Has our dreams may come true lol

  • trenttucker

The Knicks weren’t going after Wade? Not even a little, if LeBron decides to stay put? I think Chicago wants Bosh as a fallback, too.

Sacto asked for Lee and the Knicks said there wasn’t enough time to get him to agree. Can you believe that they didn’t talk to him about the possibility before today? Talk about being unprepared. Ugh.

This is not looking good. One hour, five minutes left to move Jared Jeffries. Really, no one will take Jordan Hill and a 2nd rounder for JJ’s 1.5 years?

  • charlie

Well, they reported asked for David Lee and multiple picks to take Jeffries. Donnie isn’t going to do that if he wasn’t going to do it when it was Hughes instead of Lee.

  • BiggieSmalls

so John salmons can get moved but JJ is still a knick?

    what a frickin joke..

now Sacto wants to try to hold us up and make a JJ/Lee PLUS picks for Mcgrady..

See ya.. Send us picks for Lee… or let him walk in July.

Donnie is screwing the pooch right now.. can someone wake him up.

  • charlie

I guess getting a draft pick for Nate is nice. But, without opening additional cap room, this is a bust of a deadline.

I suppose Donnie could always trade Jeffries in the summer and then trade for a guy with a big contract?

  • BiggieSmalls

i think donnie outsmarted himself homie.

  • BrooklynsFinest1

If I could talk to Walsh I would ask him this, with all the double doubles Lee gets why we still get killed in games and we have the record that we do. Please stop overvaluing our players we are lucky somebody wants JJ.

  • BiggieSmalls

what are the final details on the Nate trade????

Jezzus.. we have to see Nate say good bye in tweets but cant get the details on what is coming back??

if it is Eddie House and no pick Im irate.

dont talk to me about JR Geddings.

Ty Thomas got the Bulls a pick.. WTF!!!

  • trenttucker

Apparently the Knicks a) don’t think they could convince him, and b) don’t want to lose him. Sadly.

  • BiggieSmalls

    via ESPN
Multiple sources say the Knicks have reached a tentative agreement on a deal with Boston sending Nate Robinson and a second player to the Celtics for Eddie House, J.R. Giddens and Bill Walker. The identity of the second New York player was not immediately clear.

    AWFUL.. JUST AWFUL!!!!!

  • trenttucker

    Word.

  • trenttucker

Looks like we also lose Marcus Landry, who I like more than any other guy in the deal. Just a terrible trade.

  • BiggieSmalls

yeah.. i really liked him for Next year.

    Donnie got fleeced by Ainge.

this does absolutely nothing 4 us.

please dont talk to me about eddie House.. Im sure he’ll be excited to be here for 30 games instead of the middle of a playoff push by the Celtics..

    In Donnie we Bust.

  • charlie

There is no reason to trade Nate if we don’t get a pick. Period. End of story.

  • BrooklynsFinest1

Biggie I feel u on Nate, but you gotta be realistic Nate and Mike do not get along so Donnie did what he could as fast as he could to get Nate out of NY. Now as far as Landry and Lee come on, you know what lets not make any trade and tell teams that hey you want JJ you gotta take him straight up becuase he is that good (sarcasm) becuase we want to keep all our picks and players and when free agency hits Lebron can see we got such a great mixture of players that he will be sooo excited to play with. (smh)

  • charlie

Woj says Kings trade T-Cap, er, T-Mac to Knicks…

  • charlie

    …and Sergio

    What have we given them…???

  • jho

You are obviously forgetting the premium we need to pay to clear jeffries’ salary.

  • jho

It might be hard for you to understand but Kevin Martin is an elite guard in this league. He’s injury prone, but when healthy he can be your primary scorer on a championship team. One of the hardest things that the Rockets struggle with is scoring points, so getting Martin was huge for them.

  • trenttucker

I hear that D’Antoni told Walsh to get Nate off the team at all costs after Nate f-bombed the coach in the Kings game.

And when I say “I hear”, I mean “I think.”

  • TobyKnight

    Yahoo!
    Got what we needed!!

Way to go Donnie. Now just sign LBJ and whomever he wants on this team and we are ready for the NY basketball Renaissance!!

  • bklyn ton

Thank you Donnie. A new day has come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL (Now I can get back to work)

  • TobyKnight

Can we trade Lee to the Celtics or Magic for someone?
We need the Celtics or Magic to beat Cleveland.

  • TobyKnight

Any word on a Harrington trade?
    For a PG perhaps?

  • jho

The main problem with lee is that he has power to veto any trade right now because of the one year deal the Knicks signed him as a RFA.

  • Donnie2010

Thank you Donnie…well played. If only Fat Eddy wasn’t such a POS and waste of life then we would really be sitting pretty. But, if you told me in 2008 that Donnie would be able to rid this team of every awful contract put in place by Isiah I’m not sure I would have believed it. I don’t even count Curry b/c he is so worthless that trying to trade him is probably a waste of time. Props to Donnie though, sticking to his guns and giving me hope on July 1st. Love him for this.

  • danisrob

    Saves Knicks about 2mill.

  • JASONHAYES

    IN DONNIE WE TRUST!!!!

  • belikmike23

Wait a minute… According to Marc Stein on ESPN.com, Hill was also traded… which is it? Do we have Hill still or not?!?

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4924836

  • trenttucker

    So, in sum?

We give up: Hughes, 2012 1st rd, 2011 swap, Jeffries

    For: T-Mac and Sergio’s ECs

Good/great deal for us. I don’t love giving up picks, but I’d rather keep Hill than the 2012 pick. Nice job of holding onto Hill.

    Now about that Nate trade…

  • Jeff C

I am still not a big fan of giving up hill without gettin t. thomas, although i guess i still support this trade.

But Yahoo and Hahn are reporting that we didn’t have to give up hill, while ESPN is reporting that we did. whats the truth??

  • bbm4646

we all as new yorkers commend you for what you have done donnie!

  • trenttucker

Ugh, we gave up Hill, too.

  • bob go knicks

getting rid of that idiot clown nate robinson,is the smartest thing that donnie has ever done.this will improve the teams I.Q.by 75

  • TobyKnight

OK- Just confirmed that S-Rod is in the deal to us.
This makes us much stronger for the remainder of the season.
A ton to give up, but worth it if we score big this summer.

Houston made out like a bandit.
    Not so sure about Sac.

    Knick Lineup:
    PG S-Rod
    SG T-Mac
    SF Chandler
    PF Gallo
    C Lee

    Bench
    Harrington
    House
    Giddens
    Douglas
    Landry
    Bender

Bummed about Thomas — would have been a great addition.

    Thursday, 1:21 p.m. — McGrady now a Knick

The New York Knicks, Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings have reached an agreement on a complicated three-team deal that will send Tracy McGrady to New York, two league sources with knowledge of the discussion told SI.com
The Kings will receive Carl Landry and Joey Dorsey from Houston and Larry Hughes from the Knicks. Houston will receive Kevin Martin, Jared Jeffries, the right to swap 2011 first-round picks with New York and a 2012 first round pick from the Knicks.
The Knicks will receive McGrady and point guard Sergio Rodriguez.

  • theknicks120

what about eddy curry why can’t we just buy him out or trade him and someone waive him like brian cardinal or big z in cle

  • bob go knicks

    YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH!

  • Jeff C

I’m going to go take a test which i obviously was unable to study for… I pray that i return to confirmation that Hill was not included.

And by the way, this whole plan has gone accordingly so far, so if it keeps going as such, there’s no reason to worry about a 2012 pick. It’s not like we’re giving it up for marbury or eddy curry, we’re giving it up for flexibility, a look at t-mac 9without commitment, and a look at a good young PG. So this is not the same as isiah’s moves, which i’m sure will be a theme on here today.

The 2011 swap could be 50-50,, and by 2012 we are supposed to be contenders, or at least close to it. If Hill was included also, than maybe this was a little bit of desperation (unless we get tyrus thomas as a replacement.) But either way, it just seems like this had to be done.

  • Dylan

Ridiculous… Donnie held out because the Rockets were asking for too much and then gave up everything they asked for!!!

  • Jeff C

And we have to keep in mind that we originally were not getting a PG, but now we are getting a very young, very cheap one, who could prove to be a HUGE upgrade over duhon.

And not having a PG has been the problem all along, has it not?

We now have eddie house, sergio, and mcgrady as guards, as apposed to nate, hughes, and duhon.

Plus, we got rid of Jeffries. I’m hppy

  • Jeff C

But we originally weren[t getting anything beisdes T-mac.

Now we’re also getting a good PG on his rookie contract? Does that not count for anything???

  • prettyToney

wow homerun donnie walsh. I dont have to see jeffries anymore and sergio rodriguez is at least a serviceable point guard , no more duhon!

  • Dylan

    BAD DEAL

  • flanz0

You know, aside from a PF lottery pick from last season (Jordan Hill) and after acquiring a first from Boston to lessen the blow of picks given to Houston.

Also remember, we should not suck in 2012, so our pick isn’t going to be a high pick like it’s been for the past decade.

    DONNIE WALSH….YOU SEXY SON’BITCH!!!

  • Dylan

  • TobyKnight

Couldn’t we have signed S-Rod this last offseason?

  • trenttucker

What are you talking about? We got an expiring contract — that’s all Sergio is. Why do you care who our guards are now? None of those guys have contracts past this year.

Our roster for next year is:

    Chandler
    Gallo
    Curry
    Douglas

That’s it. And we have a bad 2011 pick and no 2012 pick. If we don’t get two major FAs (not David Lee), this team will suck to high heaven.

  • Dylan

I agree! The Knicks gave into all of the Rockets demands.

  • TobyKnight

Sorry to see him go, but I would have still done it.

Would be nice to get and expiring and a 1st rd pic for Harrington to make up for the 2012 pick.

  • TobyKnight

That’s what happens when you have little leverage.
If that was the only way to get the deal done, you have to do it. The potential upside is too good to risk it not happening.

  • Eduardo15

Unless Donnie knows something we don’t (e.g. verbal “informal” commitments from LBJ and Bosh), I think this is a bad deal.

    A really bad one.

  • flanz0

Dayme. That does kind of suck.

  • Eduardo15

I’m not sorry to see him go, I hated him from day one. But I do think we payed too much for cap space in 2010.

  • http://www.reeltalkblog.com Shakespeare

YEA I’M NOT TOOOO THRILLED, I WAS FINE GIVING UP JORDAN HILL IF WE WERE TO GET TYRUS THOMAS IN RETURN….I GUESS LEE WILL B BACK NEXT YR IF WE CAN’T GET AMARE/BOSH/BOOZER…..

  • Mucha

Jordan Hill showed no heart whatsoever yesterday – he was pathetic. But you know he’ll become an All-Star with the Houston Rockets. It’s obvious. The Knicks better make a huge splash in the free agent market this summer, the fact that the Rockets will have the right to switch picks in 2011 reinforces the notion that it’s all about 2010. I hate Toney Douglas’ contract even more now.

Morey is a such GREAT GM by the way. McGrady = Kevin Martin, Jordan Hill and a 1st round draft pick? WOW.

Hopefully we’ll have a great team to root for next year.

  • trenttucker

Terrible deal. All we got was Sergio for a half season. They got everything else. We have four players under contract for next season (including Eddy Curry).

  • flanz0

I still don’t see how this is a bad deal. The Knicks will now have $30+ mil in cap space this summer. They still have Chandler and Gallo, who are the real pieces to build around, and if Sergio shows something he’s in the mix. Hill was a nice project with upside, but I would rather have the cap space.

  • knicksfan36

wow, terrible deal. donnie got schemed. oh well

  • trenttucker

Correct. That’s the only way it’s a good deal.

  • Assistant DA

For the Knicks to sign two max free agents, they also have to renounce David Lee’s bird rights.

  • trenttucker

Can we trade for Darryl Morey?

  • belikmike23

Haha, Kenny Thomas went from being traded finally to being back on the Kings.

  • theknicks120

what about eddy curry why can’t we just buy him out or trade him and someone waive him like brian cardinal or big z in cle

i want to see toney douglas get more playing time now he has shown sparks off the bench and enjoyed watching him earlier this year

  • flanz0

To add to my point, If Bron is brought in next season, Chandler is going to be moved to PF probably (assuming they have a person to play center), which I like. Gallo at SF, Chandler PF, Bron at Point Forward, Sergio/whoever? Just need a center and that’s a better starting 5 than anything Bron’s had to work with before. Come onnnnn now it’s a torturous wait until July…

  • joeyballz

Wow did you guys see the protections,,,we got f……on those

  • young hova

“Draft-pick protections for HOU from @chadfordinsider: Knicks’ pick in 2011 is Top-1 protected; In 2012, Knicks’ pick is Top-5 protected”

  • Eduardo15

    I second that.

  • BiggieSmalls

    top 1 protected?

    what a joke.

  • flanz0

Because he’s being a child and intentionally screwing the franchise by exercising his player option for next year (a nice $10 mil sum). I swear he’s doing it out of spite.

  • CircleLimit4

They already have like 33mil available this summer, how much more can they shed?

  • young hova

I agree, I don’t know why that couldn’t be at least top 3, because we are obviously going to end up getting the #2 pick and have to swap with Houston

  • flanz0

Both 2011 and 2012 shouldn’t be lottery picks anyway, big deal.

  • joeyballz

Lets hope Yao Ming stays injured…..Its all about this summer my man….BIG BIG BIG GAMBLE….Kick in the door wave in the 44

  • jg1170

If Morley had the garbage that DW has to deal with he’d do no better.

What do the Knicks have that he could’ve done a better job with?

  • CircleLimit4

    Ty Thomas > Nate

Nate is not good enough to yield a first alone.

  • Kwayry

If Bron does not sign here, do not blame Donnie. 80% of you supported the trade according to this blog.

  • Eduardo15

I guess if all things go wrong we’ll have to really stink in 2010 and prey to the lottery gods for the #1 pick.

That said, my greatest fear is:

    LBJ: NO

    DWade: NO

    Bosh: NO

All in for Stoudemire (injury prone) and J. Johnson (good player, not star though). And just like that we’ll have no more cap, and a team capable of going to the POs, without ever winning it all.

  • Eduardo15

    I hate his fat ass.

  • BiggieSmalls

a potential sixth man of the year isnt worth a first rounder but a wing player who hasnt done a thing is?

  • prettyToney

Face it the Jordan Hill pick was a disaster hes soft and has butterfingers, i dont mind giving up on him donnie walsh blew it passing up on jennings, now we can finally move on from that. The 2012 first isnt gonna be a lottery pick so we’ll live. We got the cap space now. And i personally like Sergio Rodriguez. Watch Gallinari start playing alot better with a decent point guard.

  • Randy B.

The trade does not work out on the ESPN trade machine. Kings are taking in much more than they are giving out. Woner what gives or who is missing out of the deal?

  • DVJ

    Your right K4L

If Donnie didn’t protect those picks, I don’t like the trade.
I’m more concerned with the 2012 pick than I am with the 2011 swap. At least we still have a pick in 2011.

    Still an hour left.

    We’ll see what happens

Also, per the Kings beat writer, the 2012 pick is protected up to 10.

  • Eduardo15

    I know I didn’t.

  • blackwood

Thats what I was saying yesterday donnie should of been in Lee’s ear for a month like “look david we like you and want you on the team but if a trade for the rest of year that upgrades the team please be open to it and during there off season we can work hards on a contract to bring u back” if that aint work its like screw it help us or ride the bench!! lol

I would of loved to have traded Lee to the kings for Thompson a way better guy for us to get Ty from the bulls!!

  • Randy B.

    “wonder”

  • Eduardo15

I like Rodriguez, but isn’t he another small 2 guard?

  • flanz0

Does anyone seriously think we’re going to be a lottery team in 2 years? Why is the 2012 pick a deciding factor for anyone?

  • Dylan

Only way this trade was a good one is if the Knicks get 2 max free agents this offseason.

  • JASONHAYES

Exactly my thoughts. Guys are stuck in the past! this team will not suck, so the picks are irrelevant. And stop acting like Lebron is god, get off his nuts!!!! There are other players we can get.

    Joe Johnson
    Rudy Gay
    CB4
Boozer (if miami cant get him)

We have money! and will be getting out of mediocrity. Sometimes you pay a price to get to where you wanna go!

  • Kwayry

He can’t play any D. Kings were asking for a trade exception for him a couple of days ago and Memphis passed. Now he is the starting pg on the Knicks. Typical.

  • TobyKnight

He is an asset next year because of his expiring.
We might be able to get a PG by trading his contract.

Hopefully he’ll get his fat ass into shape and give 10-15 minutes a decent play in the meantime.
    Not holding my breath

  • young hova

And yet I would have given a trade exception with Duhon (current startgin pg) to get him off our team (if there were possible which obviously its not)

  • BiggieSmalls

thats Rudy Fernandez.. Sergio Rodrigues is a PG..

third stringer in Sacto now our starter..

i like him and think he can help if the coach doesnt give him a green light to hoist threes

  • DwaneT

If the Chicago trade is not gonna happen, we still have an hour left. Maybe we can move Lee And Buckets for Amare. If LeBron was willing to play with him in Cleveland, then maybe he’ll see at least one major piece in place in NY. Nothing is guaranteed over the summer, so we should have at least one tier1/tier2 hybrid in place. That would also make up for the loss of Hill going into the future. Playing with Nash, Lee may average a triple double. Everybody wins.

  • prettyToney

I agree Lee is not a winning basketball player , it made me sick watching chandler who was playing great last night get in foul trouble and have to go to the bench because he had to pick up Lees defensive slack all night.

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

    no J HILL in trade..

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

for a minute sactown had interest in LEE but we all know lee said hell no

  • BiggieSmalls

good catch… Hahn recanted and said Hill is in the deal…

awful… we trade JJ, our # 8 pick, our best reserve guard, swap first rounders and give up a 2012 for no useful parts other than maybe a PG who couldnt crack the rotation in Sacto and a player who doesnt want to be here in House..

both picks should be lottery protected for 3-5 years.

But would we have enough to re-sign S-Rod?

    PG: S-Rod
    SG: LBJ
    SF: Chandler
    PF: Gallo
    C: Bosh

    Nice lineup!
LBJ would have to feel that this team could go all the way.

Maybe trade Curry’s contract at the trade deadline for a better PG.

  • joetheknick

Dumped JJ’s contract. Picked up Sergio. Congratulations Donnie Walsh. Good job.

  • Kid Tarheel

The plan was to get under the cap to get studs. No reason to think we can’t. When was the last time NY had cap space to spend?

  • BiggieSmalls

and tossed in two number one pics.. and swapped another.

  • DVJ

    From Berger

It cost the Knicks a premium price to clear Jeffries’ $6.9 million contract off the 2010-11 books. But doing so all but accomplished the goal team president Donnie Walsh set out to achieve when he came to New York — become a major player in the 2010 free-agent class, recognized by all involved as potentially the best in NBA history. By shedding Jeffries, Walsh will have only four players under contract for ’10-’11 — Eddy Curry, Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, and Toney Douglas. The Knicks are a Curry buyout away from having the space to sign two max players. If those free agents prefer the sign-and-trade route — which would get them more money and an extra year — the Knicks are positioned to accommodate that as well.

  • SilentJay

Nate was definitely enough to get a 1st round pick IMO. Playing on Boston’s desperation to get more scoring off the bench was the play here (not saying that DW didn’t play it like that, I have no idea).
Thomas is gone to the Cats, Al will be staying. Hill and JJ are most likely leaving. We lost size and D in those big men, including our 8th pick, whether it was the appropriate or not (not saying we lost scoring, please beware of that).
Don’t really know who our “big men” will be now.
    Wow.

  • Donnie2010

they’ve sucked to high heaven for almost 10 years now….so i’ll take my chances with the free agents.

  • blackwood

But I would take Jerry West since Morley is busy building a winner from scratch! lol

  • flanz0

Perfect! Just flop Gallo & Chandler (Chandler’s strength will make him a much better PF than Gallo).

  • Dylan

Looks like Knicks are going to hold onto Harrington. He will probably be their PF.

  • Kid Tarheel

Just saying… U know how good our team would be if we whiffed on the top 3 options and got stoudemire and joe johnson? teamed up with Gallo and Chandler + whomever we got to play the point? We’d be a playoff team with home court next season. so everyone should just breathe a HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF!!!

  • flanz0

PF might be the best for Chandler. He’s big enough & strong enough and would cause mismatches on the offensive end.

Our best reserve guard that doesn’t play? Our #8 pick that is going to take years to get it, if he ever does?

If the Knicks can’t sign Lebron this trade will be up there with the Curry and Marbury deals. Maybe not as bad, but pretty close.

  • trenttucker

    - Only four players under contract for next year (one of whom is Eddy Curry).

    - No 2012 1st.

    - A bad 2011 1st.

    - A lot of teams with more talent (Chicago, Clippers, Nets, Miami) competing with us for free agents.

I can’t see how this is a good situation.

  • SilentJay

Yup. It seems Hill is leaving (Houston looks like the big winner) as well with JJ and Al stays. No picks for N8.
That’s just wrong. Too much to give up I say. Who are our big men now?
Curry? Yeah, right. Lee? Plenty of D presence there.
You would’ve thought DW would try to keep his 8th pick. I’m not talking about admitting his mistake in the draft or getting more cap space, but I’m talking about the lack of me this team will have now.
    Nice…

  • trenttucker

Yes, in that it will have compromised the team for 1-2 years. The only way this is a good deal is if:

    - LeBron or Wade sign
    - Another good guy (Bosh/Johnson/Felton) signs (not Lee!)
    - AND T-Mac is pretty good and signs for supercheap for us

  • SilentJay

    LMFAO
Good to know we can still laugh at moments of utter desperation

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

they got bender or is he a S.G?

  • flanz0

I cannot wait until Houston doesn’t even switch picks next year because they have a worse record, and in 2012 we are giving up a 25th+ pick. Too bad we have to wait 2 years for people to realize those picks aren’t going to be lottery picks.

  • bob go knicks

they woulda had chandler and gallo even if they didnt make this dopey trade

  • fredweis

Donnie “Basketball” Walsh. Man of his word.

  • flanz0

Bender’s been on the team. He is god awful.

  • charlie

They already have the space for two max contracts – even with Curry on the squad. That was the point of the T-Cap trade.

  • NoVaCaInE

Hill is owed $2,669,520 in 2010. This is why he was included in the deal. Hill being included allows the Knicks to have $35,217,096 to spend this summer. After 2 Max contracts are signed we will still need to fill out the roster. Donnie should try to move Douglas(maybe with Lee or another expiring) and give us another $1,071,000 to play with. That would give us $36,288,096 to use this summer.

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

    top 10 protected

  • leecd

When will Tmac play? I have tix for Sat night

  • Eduardo15

Yeah, that would last a couple of years… then what?

I’d rather wait on CP3 or Carmello in that scenario.

  • bob go knicks

    its top 10 protected

  • Dylan

The Knicks could end up with a lineup of:

    PG: S Rod
    SG: Wade
    SF: Gallo
    PF: Chandler
    C: Bosh

How could you compare that to Curry and Marbury?

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

    any1 wants to predict t-macs number’s?

    i’ll say
    15-20pts
    3-6 assists
    3-6 rbs

thats if he doesn’t want a buyout..

  • giantg

    Gents, 2 quick points:

S Rod has a 2.8mm q/o next year. Look at it as J.Hill for S.Rod. Pf for pg.

For all intents and purposes the Knicks can now offer 2 max deals. Might take a Curry buyout, may not…either way if LeBron wants to come to NY he can choose who he wants to play with…

  • Dylan

Tim Grover, McGrady’s trainer: “Put him in a uniform and get him out there. He’s ready.”

    Should be fun to watch.

  • charlie

    Bingo.

  • young hova

    - That is what we wanted anyway so I don’t see the issue there

    - Yes that sucks and odds are due to the top 3 protection we will probably have to ship the 4th pick

-20th pick the latest which isn’t great but far from terrible. We aren’t talking about the Lakers here, and depending on how Yao comes back the Rockets aren’t a lock for the playoffs next year

-Yes but that was always going to be the issue, all we have is NY

-could be worse, we could no hope

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

most likely 2 -4 days from now..
but i heard he wants to play when curry returns..

  • Jack D

is eddy curry ever going to try and play this year… i never hear any updates about him..if we get rid of him than we have the best shot at getting lebron if lebron wants to leave…
-he wont go to miami cause wade will be their and he wants more rings than wade
-he wont go to clippers b/c their the clippers
-why go to chicago and be in the shadow of jordan?
-and the nets..only jay-z can bring him

He will be a sports icon in NY..and he know it!
Its either Cleveland or New York, period!

  • bob go knicks

if the knicks happen to have INJURIES,we will be a lotto pick and it will go to houston

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

donnie should ask LEE to name some teams he would like to be traded to
then call up those teams an ask what are they willing to give up for LEE

  • SilentJay

It seems he WAS included. Too bad, Morey and Ainge compeletely seized upon the smell of desperation for cap space that DW had (not getting a pick for Nate is ridiculous IMO). Morey is definitely the big winner here.
Seeing Gallo at the 4 will be painful. He’s not strong or fast enough to defend the post yet. That’s an injury waiting to happen on his first attempt at taking a charge and falling on his back. Good luck to him.
Glad that JJ is gone. Still think it was way too much and that Hill could’ve brough more to the table with time and patience.

  • belikmike23

So now Landry (who I like a lot) is officially off to Boston with Nate, while DJ Augustin is close to being traded to Indiana for TJ Ford… Not sure how I feel about today… Why not try for Augustin??

  • trenttucker

What’s the 8/9 man rotation that we are putting out there next year that makes us good? All we have now is Chandler, Curry, Gallo and Douglas. What five players can you get with $31-32m (our space after minimums to 3 other bench guys). Show me.

  • boomshanka

If Lebron signs then it was worth it , if Wade signs and those other things happen it was worth it. If they don’t sign either, and end up with two 2nd tier FA’s, we can expect another 4-5 years of mediocrity.

  • charlie

Or, he can trade Curry’s expiring deal for someone…

  • Assistant DA

The Knicks will need to renounce S. Rod as you call him to sign two max free agents…

  • ds2488

I like the trade, but it will all come down to this summer now. I say a chance to sign 2 max free agents is worth it, and I have been seeing some bad things from Hill lately. This trade could end up being a disaster tough…Hil becomes good player, we strike out in fa and be a lottery team, and no picks. Also could be a great trade though. Have to wait and see.

  • fredweis

I’d trade Hill for Sergio Rodriguez any day of the week.

ESPN’s John Hollinger put it best “(Rodriguez) is going to kill in D’Antoni’s system”.

I’ve been pulling for Spanish Chocolate to NY since the 2007 draft.

  • jho

This is inconsequential because David Lee is not going to be making anywhere near the max.

  • SilentJay

It seems there’s no pick for Nate. Remember that.

  • Eduardo15

    Tks

  • Knicks4life

Then why the hell did we draft him in the first place. WTF

  • boomshanka

I amended to include a possible scenario with Wade but it isn’t likely. Chicago has the cap space with better pieces in place.

  • flanz0

Have you seen some of the garbage squads Bron/Wade have brought to the playoffs? Take four of us commenters with Bron and we’re an 8 seed. Basically, I’m assuming we sign one or the other (and let’s face it, there’s no reason we shouldn’t) and then we’re instantly a good team with a SuperDuperstar (bron/wade) then a Tier 2 guy (Boozer/Johnson/Amare), 2 young studs (gallo/wilson), trade Curry’s expiring for a PG, douglas backs up and you have an awesome starting 5. Since you ahve to account for minimum salaries for roster spots before calculating cap space, fill the roster with guys who want to play for cheap and win titles.

  • trenttucker

Your lineup is not possible. Look at the numbers:

    PG: S Rod – $3.2m (he has a q offer)
    SG: Wade – $16.5m (max)
    SF: Gallo – $3.3m
    PF: Chandler – $2.1m
    C: Bosh – $16.5m

    Curry $11.3m
    Douglas $1.1m
That’s already $54+m — the cap is only going to be $53 AND we need to fill the team with 5 more players.

  • blackwood

Okay lets be real about all this…

    1) Wade has not and will not ever be an option! He will be second fiddle to nobody! A star in his own right and the only other team with a legit shot at Wade are his home town bulls where Rose can be the robin to his batman

2)The cav’s play the best Dee in the league! They have just upgraded with a trade that almost guaranteed there playing Kobe & them for the ring for the the next 2 years.

    3) With those to off the list your telling me screwing up 2 lottery picks trading away a few more to trade JJ was worth it for ether of the group of Bosh,Gaye,Boozer or the like? really??

It’s LBJ or this was all bull$h!t!!

  • Knicks4life

That team would barely be a playoff team with Joe Johnson, Amare, Gallo, and Chandler and no draft picks and no PG.

  • DVJ

If we can get rid of Harrington, that would be great.

Not sure who’s available but Harrington needs to go in my opinion.

  • trenttucker

Show me the math. And show me who will give up a good PG for Eddy Curry. Show me.

  • charlie

Let’s just see the official word on the picks. Some have said 2012 could be top-10 protected.

  • Knicks4life

Yeah that is because Tommy voted 264 times.

If you read the comments very few were supporting this trade as proposed.

  • Knicks4life

No way D’antoni benches duhon for Sergio.

He should, but no way he will.

  • flanz0

Obviously Bosh would have to make less $ in order to go after titles.

  • jho

DW should but I think Lee is the fallback plan if any of the big 3 doesn’t sign here.

  • DVJ

    what?

  • boomshanka

Uhh, all that is if Lebron or Wade sign. People are acting as though it’s a done deal. Hopefully it is, but if it isn’t we’re gonna suck.

  • Knicks4life

“We’re not a crap team next season or in 2012″

    And you know this because?

  • flanz0

Typical salty, negative Knicks fan. How about we talk about who is going to want $10 million coming off the books? *cough* NEW ORLEANS *cough*

  • http://www.reeltalkblog.com Shakespeare

“The Boston Celtics have reached a tentative agreement on a deal with the New York Knicks to send Eddie House, J.R. Giddens and Bill Walker to New York for Nate Robinson and a second player, according to multiple sources. The identity of the second New York player was not immediately clear. ”

WOW, BILL WALKER N JR GIDDENS??? YEA that’s equivalent to a late first rounder anyway……i’ll take that….both are athletic as fk…lol, should be fun to watch for the rest of the yr, if we play them of course….

I WONDER WHO’S THE SECOND PLAYER WE’RE SHIPPING TO BOSTON…i’ll assume either bender or landry…more than likely landry tho…

UMMMM NETHING ON TYRUS THOMAS YET…..is it confirmed him to char?? cause shittttttttttt we STILL NEED A PF…lol..

  • Knicks4life

Uh huh. Notice how you didn’t mention anything about the bench.

S-Rod is not a starting caliber PG, and Bosh is not a center.

My point is, we are going to try to lure Lebron here with no real supporting cast and no draft picks.

Man this is all or nothing.

  • NoVaCaInE

    Landry

  • Dylan

The Knicks could buyout Curry and save a couple mil. Plus that is what teams are preparing for, but the cap could be a little bit higher.

  • flanz0

    Um,

If Wade came here he’s the #1 guy, not sure where you get 2nd fiddle from.

They just upgraded with a guy who is almost 34 years old and plays PF, though he hates to rebound and play inside.

I wouldn’t say anyone is “off the list”

  • Knicks4life

So you want the Suns to become the worst defensive team in history?

  • flanz0

Bosh is a center in this system.

  • DVJ

Knicks 7.5 games out of 8 spot. I think S-Rod helps right away and if (IF!) T-Mac is ready to go…just saying, it’s possible.

    Via Twitter

  • Knicks4life

    Top 5

  • Dylan

And like the the guy above said, Wade and Bosh could both take a little less than max. They would make it up with endorsements anyway.

  • NoVaCaInE

“No real info but Harrington is still in play…not sure if Walsh is done.”

Have to get rid on another 2010 contract. Maybe Douglas? Get it done Donnie. Then buy out Eddy Curry for 9 million and save a few more mill(wishful thinking).

  • DVJ

    Via Wojo

Charlotte and Indiana is close, but sources say not done. FIve players for now, including Ford and Rush for Augustine, Henderson and Nazr.

How is Henderson getting just thrown around like this?

  • Eduardo15

“It’s LBJ or this was all bull$h!t!!”

That is my sentiment all along.

I don’t even like D-Wade that much (don’t kill me).

  • flanz0

We’re spending that money on somebody. They’re going to be good. Who it is? No idea. Are we going to be a playoff team? Yep.

  • Knicks4life

Lol @ Wade taking the less than the max

  • young hova

Mediocrity would be an improvement, though obviously i know what you are saying and agree

  • http://www.reeltalkblog.com Shakespeare

cmon mike, lol, i know ur not shedding a tear for landry now….lol…trust, walker and giddens are BOTH better than landry, and some of the most athletic guys in the nba….dnt b surprised if walker wins the slam dunk title next yr…lol..

  • flanz0

That trade won’t really be talked about, but that’s a good one.

  • Knicks4life

NO is going to trade Chris Paul for Eddie Curry? Are you joking. And we can’t even throw in a 1st round pick unitl 2014 because we traded them all . . .

  • http://www.reeltalkblog.com Shakespeare

lol, good looks caine, jus peeped that when i refreshed…lol.

  • flanz0

I’d rather hold onto Curry and trade his expiring than save just $1 mil by buying him out.

  • belikmike23

Walker vs. Nate for Slam Dunk Title?

  • Knicks4life

So then why did we draft Hill at all?

If the concern was the salary the 8th pick was making why did the knicks not just trade the pick this summer for a #1 in 2012.

That is a bullsh*t excuse for Donnie’s poor planning and drafting.

  • flanz0

I obviously don’t think that will happen. But Mr. Happy up there is getting all pissy and saying “show me show me show me” so i showed him an example of a team who would want to trade a big contract to save $. Do I think that’s even plausible? Of course not.

  • Knicks4life

    13 ppg

    4 ast

    5 reb

    32 % fg

  • Eduardo15

WTF indeed… thus my dislike for him and what he represents.

  • http://www.reeltalkblog.com Shakespeare

we should have looked into trading Lee, harrington n douglas for amare and barbosa….

  • trenttucker

Show me an example that is plausible.

  • flanz0

………because at the time they didn’t think they’d need to trade him to move Jeffries? What kind of point is that? Yes, hindsight is always 20/20.

  • Knicks4life

If you don’t know who it is, how do you know we will be a playoff team?

If it is Felton and Joe Johnson we are NOT making the playoffs.

If it is Johnson and Boozer we are NOT making the playoffs.

  • Knicks4life

    What system?

  • Knicks4life

    How is that hindsight?

They tried to trade Jeffries all of last year they knew the difficulty in trading him. They were willing to trade Hill because he was a bust.

  • blackwood

Okay flanz0 lets try this again, the idea that was being thrown around was to get lebron and pair him with another superstar from the FA class!! The only other superstar is Wade the rest are just stars! So the point is Wade would never play with Lebron and be 2nd fiddle in NYC.

Also if you want to talk about no LBJ and just getting Wade he has pretty much crapped on ever playing in NY in more then one interview. Your day daydreaming if you think Wade is coming here. He loves it in Miami and is trying to press the heat to upgrade the same way Kobe did the Lakers! The only other team he would play for is his hometown Bulls where Rose would be his pippen to his Jordan!

  • young hova

Saw somewhere that if Warriors stay desperate to get rid of Maggette in offseason him for Curry works nice and even saves us some money. Maggette though way overpaid would be a solid contributor to have as a complimentary to the hopeful stars we get

  • Knicks4life

    Why would PHX do that?

Amare is a much better player than Lee on both sides of the ball.

They are both free agents this summer too.

  • Knicks4life

Maggette is a ball hog. Think Harrington x10.

  • trenttucker

    From Bill Simmons’ twitter:

“Serious question for @dmorey – were you wearing a black ski mask and holding a gun when you made that Knicks trade?”

    I could not agree more.

  • blackwood

I ask again how do we do biz with the kings and not expanded it to get Thompson??? A 2mil legit post player we could of taken with us on the way out!! Geeez!

  • flanz0

Not sure you can label either player as better than the other on defense, seeing how neither of them actually play on that end.

  • trenttucker

Yes, but Maggette can actually play good D, when he wants to. Maggette is probably the type of contract we could get for Curry. The only players we can get for Curry will be the HUGE MISTAKE contracts. It’s not a pretty picture.

  • blackwood

lmaoooo I think he just waited for the alzheimer’s to kick in and then had his way with him!! lol

  • flanz0

No. The plan is to get Lebron. Let’s not talk around the subject. If they don’t get Lebron, anything else is a consolation prize. You get Bron and you pair him with a guy like Bosh/Joe Johnson/Amare/Boozer, guys who will take slightly less $ to play with the best player on earth and chase championships for a decade.

He loves it in Miami? Really!? He loves playing on crap teams year after year in front of a 1/2 filled stadium? Yeah, I just see the lovefest growing alllllll day long.

  • flanz0

Wow…a Boston grown Knick Hater hating on the Knicks following through with their plan (which has been the plan since DW got here). Shocking. Trent, I hear the Nets are looking for some fans, they can’t even fill 1/10th of their arena these days.

  • flanz0

I’ll go out on a limb and say it’s because the Kings weren’t getting anything that good to them other than cap relief? They’re going to trade their budding young stud down low for…………….Hughes?

  • trenttucker

You are the guy that said that New Orleans will trade Chris Paul for Eddy Curry this summer.

  • blackwood

They where trying to trade him earlier this season and there stud down low is there center who Thompson plays behind (Spencer Hawes)

  • Knicks4life

Amare is no D. Howard but he does get critical blocks.

I would take Amare on D over Lee anyday

  • blackwood

Please repost where I said that to prove you did not just make that crap up!! Cause I never said trade EC for CPR I said see if in a salary dump they would take Gallo,Hill,TD,JJ,EC & all the picks we are giving Houston for CP3 & Stojakovic!! Yea as in a feeler to see what reply you get seeing as the math is

    CP3 & Stojakovic= over 31mil
    while
JJ & EC=18mil for one more year that leaves them with over 10mil in the cash for the 2011 off season and gets us the PG we never had! So dont misquote me to attempt to sound smart!

  • trenttucker

Not you — Flanz0. I was responding to him, not you. If I was responding to you it would have shown as one indent, not two indents, in from your comment.

  • Kid Tarheel

K4L- we are on the cusp this year of a playoff spot. Add two all stars and we barely make it? come on son… you are brighter than that.
