TMac to Kings?

by Tommy Dee on February 18th, 2010 at 1:46 am

Update Via Woj:

Deal is agreed upon, via Yahoo, in principle…stay tuned.

“…If T-Mac gets buy out with Kings, he privately hopes to sign with Lakers or Cavaliers for the playoffs, source close to him tells Y!

Tommy Dee saysSo the Rockets want to take back Kevin Martin, who may have the WORST contract in the NBA seeing that he’s never played a full NBA season. And in return for getting zero toughness, they want to deal Carl Landry and Joey Dorsey to get back Hilton Armstrong?

Fishy, in my opinion. We’ll see.

UPDATE- DEAL NOT DONE…

Via ESPN:

“…It remains possible that the deal could be expanded into a three-way deal that lands McGrady with the New York Knicks before Thursday’s 3 p.m. trading deadline, after intense talks this month between the teams.

One source close to the situation confirmed to ESPN.com that landing McGrady with the Knicks before Thursday’s 3 p.m. trading deadline is the goal, but the Rockets and Kings have a deal in the event that terms can’t be reached that include New York…”

Woj”…This blockbuster can still turn into a three-way deal with New York, but much work to be done before 3 p.m. EST deadline, sources say…”

Via Ric Bucher

If Sac and Hou can pull Knicks into 3-team deal, Sergio Rodriguez + TMac would go to NY, a source says. Told Sac-Hou two-way deal not done.

Via Yahoo-

“…Two league sources tell Y! Sports that Kings are unsure whether they will keep T-Mac, or move him onto Knicks in a deal before deadline.

Via Yahoo-

…Sources: Houston has traded T-Mac to Kings for multi-player package including Kevin Martin: http://tinyurl.com/y85ezbc

Houston gave up on Knicks deal tonight, and decided to make T-Mac deal for player it most coveted: Sacramento’s Kevin Martin…

Sacramento management told Paul Westphal to pull Kevin Martin in the second half of loss to Warriors, once agreement was within reach.

Components of deal: Tracy McGrady, Carl Laundry and Joey Dorsey for Kevin Martin, Kenny Thomas, Hilton Armstrong and Sergio Rodriguez…

The players in Houston-Kings deal: T-Mac, Carl Landry and Joey Dorsey for Kevin Martin, Kenny Thomas, Hilton Armstrong and Sergio Rodriguez…”

Trying to confirm…

  • callamari

and there goes out 2 max players this summer.. im tired of this trust donnie nonsense, give me a break.. needed to make this deal happen, team relies on 2010 and nothing else come on

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge
  • belikmike23

Well so far both Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc Stein are saying it’s happening.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4923777

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

    man get monta
the warriors would luv for som1 to take monta contract

    they will take jeffries etc

  • belikmike23

It’s like the Rockets used the Knicks trade offer to better negotiate with the Kings. That way they could tell the Kings to take it or leave it because if anything the Rockets could turn to the Knicks. Seemed like a win-win for the Rockets.

  • harris

I guess tomorrow won’t be the biggest day in Knicks history since the Ewing sweepstakes afer all.

  • Mucha

    Deja Vu?

  • Mucha

    I hate Jared Jeffries.

No “LOL”, no “ROTFL” and no “LMAO”.

No disrespect to Jared Jeffries but I really hate him.

  • belikmike23

As of now, I’d sooner compare tomorrow to the day the Knicks drafted prized big man Frederic Weis.

  • harris

    Be patient my friends!

  • harris

The guy to really hate the idiot who gave him this ridiculous contract in the first place.

  • belikmike23

Ric Bucher is getting in on the fun now.

“If Sac and Hou can pull Knicks into 3-team deal, Sergio Rodriguez + TMac would go to NY, a source says. Told Sac-Hou two-way deal not done.”

    http://twitter.com/RicBucher/status/9273278146

  • Mucha

Now trade David Lee with Jared Jeffries and a first round draft pick (+ filler) for a Ray Allen or a Manu Ginobili.

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

    yup
    the league uses the knicks

    for everything

  • DVJ

““…Two league sources tell Y! Sports that Kings are unsure whether they will keep T-Mac, or move him onto Knicks in a deal before deadline.”

    Nice update Tommy.

This is where Tellem comes into play. (McGradys agent)

    Let’s see what happens.

    Stay Patient My Friends.

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

    lmao

  • Mucha

    I know.

Sometimes you just don’t want to put things into perspective though. I respect JJ – he plays hard – but I hate his inability to play NBA basketball.

  • blackwood

Now what?? this 2010 thing is falling apart right before donnie’s eyes! Will you guys now say “Well we will have tons of money for 2011″ C’mon if thats the case then donnie really did nothing at all but trade Z-Bo & Crawford for now reason blow to lottery picks and miss out on LBJ who anybody who is honest knows was the target all along for donnie!

  • barnaby8787

    A few days ago, I came up w/ this…

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yftwtqy

    Throw in our 2012 first

It makes sense for GS since they get rid of monta’s contract, they get youth in hill, a talent in lee who fits their system, and cuttino’s insurance money would more or less pay for JJ’s contract next year. Throw in the1st and maybe they would pull. Granted, azubuike is good, so idk.

  • Mucha

*Crosses fingers – prays to God”

  • barnaby8787

for the love of god, please

  • barnaby8787

    I want monta.

  • belikmike23

Well it’s making me feel slightly better seeing how Marc Stein, Woj and Bucher are saying Knicks are apparently supposed to be involved.

  • ds2488

Wow, it would be great if Knicks could pull both Tmac and Sergio from this. I can’t watch Suckhon much longer, it’s like he was cursed by some evil magician who thought it would be hilarious to have Suckhon constantly find ways to stick in the rotation, providing the fans with no respite from his awful play. Will DW work some magic of his own? I’m gonna say no since this franchise is so cursed(probably because of the lack of mitzvahs of its owner). Does Phil Jackson sell his zen master services to other teams?

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

i would try to sign A morrow also but most likely warriors match

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

    thats real talk

  • belikmike23

Jeffries is sabotaging the trade with his fake knee injury!!

  • barnaby8787

So hypothetically, we get involved and get sergio and tmac

Our team could look something like this

    PG-Duhon (d’antoni wont start sergio)
    SG- Tmac
    Sf- Gallo
    PF- Chandler
    C- Lee
    Bench
    Sergio
    T. Thomas (from a harrington trade)
    Eddie House (nate trade)
    JR Giddens (Nate trade)
    Ghostface
    Bender
    Landry

Anyone see a problem here (?)….we kind of have nobody who can play center except Lee. James isn’t getting minutes; neither is curry, so something else would HAVE to be done. Tyrus and Bender aren’t strong enough to play center.

  • Mucha

    lol

  • barnaby8787

Btw, I still want the knicks to inquire about mike conley…

  • barnaby8787

Maybe we’ll go after Drew Gooden? Idk otherwise…unless donnie has something up his sleeve somehow for boozer but extremely doubtful

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

if donnie was a good g.m he would trade for monta he got alot of expiring use some of them a get some talent DONNIE don’t bank everything on this summer

if monta was a free agent this summer he would be top 5 f.a

  • barnaby8787

“If T-Mac gets buy out with Kings, he privately hopes to sign with Lakers or Cavaliers for the playoffs, source close to him tells Y!”

LOL @ “I want to resurrect my career in NY”

  • belikmike23

Nah, Gooden is smart enough to sign with a playoff-bound team.

  • Mucha

Yeah let’s throw the whole plan out the window for a turnover machine who hasn’t led his team anywhere yet. I like Monta Ellis but you’re crazy lol – no offense.

  • jho

Damn Sergio and Tmac together would be sweet along with getting rid of Jeffries. Not sure how much the Knicks would have to give up. And Sergio is kind of useless on the Rockets, no role there.

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge
  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

atleast monta is for sure in a trade nothing else is

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge

    but donnie has this summer

if it’s 2011 then i’m going to to laughing so hard

but i’m pretty sure 2.0 versions of z-bo an craw are coming..

  • Assistant DA

    Tommy–

Would you include JHill in the deal with Sac to acquire CLandry?

  • barnaby8787

He actually prefers memphis or milwaukee….either way, my point is that our options are beyond limited…

  • DaGawD_KnowLedge
  • barnaby8787

Not happening and i’m not tommy, but that would be a no brainer; yes.

  • DVJ

    Tellem!!

    Tellem!!

    Tellem!!

  • barnaby8787

I would take monta, lbj, and camby….

  • Assistant DA

From David Aldridge– Source: still “decent” chance TMac winds up with Knicks by deadline Thursday, despite trade to Kings.

    http://twitter.com/daldridgetnt

  • DeBusscherescorner

Give me Tmac and Dorsey. SRod would be good, but I like Dosery’s toughness and athleticism.

  • barnaby8787

Dorsey over Sergio = epic fail

  • starksoakmase

what the hell are you talking about?

We can still get James and afford to keep Lee.

Plus use Curry and JJ contracts in a trade next season.

  • JLS125

Updated ESPN post says the plan is to send T-Mac and Rodriguez to the NYK, this is just a fallback if NYK can’t fulfill the parameters for a trade…

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4923777

  • barnaby8787

Random, but I kind of wonder why we haven’t explored acquiring amare…i mean honestly, not saying they would b/c they want the cap room, but conceivably, D-Lee, JJ, J. Hill and a 2012 first (with a trade exception included to get everything to work), would be a far superior deal to something like Z, hickson, and a first considering that hill prob has more upside than JJ, and although they get locked in to some cap, they get lee who they could re-sign, so Idk. Obviously good from our end. Don’t think it’s bad from there’s.

  • CircleLimit4

Throw in Nate, Hughes and Douglas and you might not need to give up a first.

  • CircleLimit4

    for Ray

  • JLS125

it’s probably going to have to be HUGHES AND JJ for TMAC and RODRIGUEZ to work…

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yh3rsg9

  • Assistant DA

From David Aldridge; If Kings move TMac to NY, it would be 4 same package Knicks were offering Houston: Jeffries, Hill, Hughes, picks.

    http://twitter.com/daldridgetnt

  • barnaby8787
  • DVJ

    This is wild….

Until the updates stop for an hour or so I don’t think I’ll be getting any sleep. I know Walsh is up so I have to stay up. I don’t want to miss anything.

  • bob go knicks

    yeah ,jerome james

  • DeBusscherescorner

    how do you know that?

  • bob go knicks

Walsh has been asleep since the 09 DRAFT!

  • DVJ

It’s not even 12:30 out in Sac town.

    Can’t miss this.

  • barnaby8787

We NEED sergio; we don’t need dorsey…

  • DVJ

    Via Twitter:

Sounding like McGrady goes to NY in morning. Third team involvement clouds final destinations.

  • DVJ

    Updated Twitter:

Sergio Rodriguez and Kenny Thomas have no idea where they’re going. Just talked to both. #nbakings

  • DeBusscherescorner

I agree about rodriguez., but Dorsey is a good young player to have. But Sergio does bring much needed passing and youthfulness to the knicks.

  • RandySW

Well it is still Very possible we can make a deal work that actually makes the Rockets a better team than just straight up trading with the Kings.

With Draft picks and Money put into the picture….this trade works in the ESPN Trade Machine…
And it fits the Goal that the Media says is trying to be met.

    Rockets Get:
    Kevin Martin (9.6 4 yrs)
    Jared Jeffries (6.,4, 2 yrs)
    Larry Hughes (13.6, 1 yr)
    Jordan Hill (2.4, 2 yrs)

    Kings Get:
    Carl Landry (3, 1 yr)
    Joey Dorsey (.881 K, 3 yrs)
    Kyle Lowry (2, 1 yr)
    Brian Cook (3.5, 1 yr)

    Knicks Get :
    Tracy Mcgrady (22.8, 1 yr)
    Sergio Rodriguez (1.5, 1 yr)

This clears cap space for both the Kings and the Knicks and also give the Rockets equal value for Mcgrady than just releasing him. They also get a guy in Jordan Hill who can help be a future player for them.

Now even though the numbers didnt match up, the Knicks have some cap room to bring in Sergio and Mcgrady while getting rid of Jeffries,Hughes and Hill….Which results in clearing up 8.8 Million dollars which helps sign 2 Max free agents and also gives them some money to consider bringing back David Lee.I always wondered if the Knicks could sign David Lee to another 1 year deal in hopes to resign him to an extension once Currys contract comes off the books.

  • DVJ

    Via Twitter:

Was told of McGrady going to New York: “They’ll deal with that component in the morning.”

  • x-man

WOW! T-Mac wants to go to a winning team and doesn’t wanna come here and add another year of not making the playoffs or getting past the 1st round in the playoffs to his storybook career?

I’m dumbfounded! What team or player would play on our Knicks affection like that!

It doesn’t matter anyway, it’s all about 2010-11!

Be patient and sit the gun down for a moment before putting it your head!

  • barnaby8787

    Who tweeted that?

  • x-man

lmao! Go to sleep DVJ, Grandpa Donnie will wake ya up with a story about the BIG one that got away so you can rely it to us.

  • bob go knicks

    elmer fudd

  • DVJ

Their all over it on Sacramento radio.

Everybody thinks the Kings will forward T-Mac to the Knicks.

Their even going over the Knicks players….Jeffries, Hill and Hughes.

  • DVJ
  • barnaby8787

If so, houston got so screwed that it’s funny….on espn, all of the rockets fan are irate at the thought of giving up all that cap room and landry for martin, LOL

  • DVJ

McGrady to New York is virtually a lock according to Sacramento radio.

    Still no word on S-Rod

  • barnaby8787

If we don’t get srod, I still want mike conley. Granted, I would take conley over s-rod.

  • DeBusscherescorner

    lol

  • DVJ

Wow, Sactown just had a Westchester caller.

    Incredible.

T-Mac will be in NY by the deadline tomorrow.

  • DVJ

Sacramento made out like a bandit in this.

When it’s all said and done, they’ll have Tyreke Evans, Casspi and Jordan Hill from this years draft.

Plus their shedding millions in salary even after taking on Jeffries contract.

    Not bad.

Initially I thought the Rockets made a good deal but that was before I realized they traded Landry. I thought they sent the same players they were offering us. Rockets fans have a right to be mad.

  • Jeff C

I am right there with everyone who is explaining why is it risky and irrsponsible to trade a young raw player like hill…. BUT…

If we are also getting T. Thomas, i think that makes up for it. He’s only 23, still on his rookie contract, and is probably the most prolific shot blocker in the league. Iif he were playing in an uptempo system he would wreak havoc. He is a BEAST; could become a very special player, if put in the right situation. Him and chandler would be quite a pair of forwards on both ends.

i look at this like we are trading hughes for t-mac , and hill for T thomas, jeffries for sergio… That trade is too good to be true, which is why we are going to include a future draft pick.

But that’s a damn good trade IMO.

We could have Sergio, T-Mac (who, even if he has lost a step, would be by far the best guard we have had all year), chandler, Thomas, and lee, with douglas, galo Landry, eddie house off the bench. I like the sound of that, for now and for the future; But now we would also have enough room for 2 max guys this summer.

I have been for this trade from the start and i still am.

  • blackwood

Yea and while your at it hate the old fart who has been in NBA management for almost 30 years and still has no idea that a basketball team needs a PG & Center! As well as gave us that all star Duhon at 6mil rather then get Jay William when he could or any upgrade at PG. Who drafted Hill in the lottery just to use him as trade bait rather then a building block because he is not one! Yea it will be JJ’s contract that will stop LBJ from becoming a Knick not the fact that the GM failed to build a team the right way in the draft so that there are not so many damn holes and much more talent on the team!!

Bottom line right now if donnie the mastermind would of did the right thing the team would look like…

PG) Jennings or any PG you like because he could of traded up.
    SG) Open
    SF) Chandler
    PF)Lee
    C) Lopez

this would be the team with the money this off season to sign Lebron!! But noooo donnie is right why would a superstar want that line up as a supporting cast!! LMAO yea live in the here and now buddy and blame whats going on now on who is in charge now and stop trying to pass the buck!! Story is he could of traded JJ last year whats up with that huh?? lol you guys kill me.

  • blackwood

    I would go for that!

  • blackwood

No the question is what the hell are you drinking?

Why in the hell would Lebron come here now when his team just upgraded in a way that there is no way there not playing Kobe for the ring this year and next!?!

Your right Lee is the key!! Lebron wants to come to a team with no center no PG that plays no Dee because he is sick of being on the team that is playing the best Dee in the league!

There it go’s the switch to 2011 slight of hand by the donnie bunch! Told you guys that would be the new story and spin!! lmao

For the record LBJ was the only target that is common sense! Wade was never an option he was and will never play on the Knicks and will damn sure never play second fiddle to LBJ he is a star in his own right and if he leaves its to go to his home town bulls and have his robin in Rose to his batman!

That leaves the other FA’s, I like Bosh but he was not the real target nether was Amare so who is left gaye? C’mon man!!! Wake up and put the cool-aid down!! lmaooo I refuse to let donnie or his cheerleaders off the hook if he trys to twist and spin this to some “oh well we will be swimming in money in 2011″crap, no damn way!

  • blackwood

lmaooooo that was funny and glad you can see through the BS at least with that statement lol

  • blackwood

If we make a trade with Sac why would we take TMac and not try to get Thompson?? screw Landry if we can get Thompson & Sergio!! Thats a real move that makes the team over all better rather then just looking to dump salary!! Geeez!

  • paulempson

Say good bye to Lebron now that he got Jamison.

    Wade is staying in Miami

Bosh and Amare are the 2 out there that are ?’s

    Big day today

  • http://www.KnicksFanaticsBlog.com IGMKNICKS

That piss poor deal surrendering draft picks and Jordan Hill was too close for comfort. This almost happened : Insider View of Morey-Walsh Negotiations Definitely not for the eyes of Walsh’ apologists.

  • danisrob

How do we add anything to the deal? Seems like Rockets/Kings deal alone is better for them.

  • k-hodge

    Agreed..Stay patient

  • k-hodge

    LMAO..Thats fckd up..LOL!

  • itzyung1

This may be asking for too much but I Just Hope Donnie is trying Memphis for OJ Mayo.
OJ is not getting along with Rudy (Chemistry Wise) and he is playing bad.
I think Wilson would fit in better with Memphis because he can play and because hes not that Ball Dominant.

  • Knicks4life

    Flip flop.
